The Captain had been unusually quiet as of late.

And that was saying something. Ask anybody to describe the Captain, and they'd likely mention her feats of legend, her incredible combat prowess, her piercing gaze and intimidating aura, or her (alleged) hygienic deficits. But only a choice few could claim to know the sound of her voice, and they'd tell you that she doesn't use it often.

After the N.S.S. saved the planet yet again, things had suddenly settled down. The senior members remained at their camp in Alterna, using it as a base as they charted out the remainder of the cavern, catalogued any information they found, and kept watch for any potential threats. The Captain sat supervising as most of the leg work was done by their newest recruit, and all that idle time allowed her the chance for reflection. It was this brooding that was the cause of her even-quieter-than-usual silence.

She thought about many things during this period- her promotion, her new responsibilities, the people around her, and the alarmingly fast passage of time. It seemed like such a short while ago that she first set out for Inkopolis. Back then she was the face of freshness, out on her own, boots on the ground, sharpening her skills as she adventured through the Valley and lived it up in the city. And in the blink of an eye, it was over. Before she knew it, she was hurtling straight into...adulthood. It hadn't fully sunk in yet- the concept felt odd and scary to her, and she hated feeling scared.

On one of these slow days, as she sat and brooded under the artificial sun, she finally came to the conclusion that had been knocking around in her head: She wasn't satisfied. She knew she should be. She knew all along that youth is fleeting, and that nothing lasts forever. She knew that she got to participate in some incredible escapades and meet extraordinary people. And she knew that as a good Captain she should accept her new position in life with grace and honor and help out the younger up-and-comers. But she just couldn't do it. She raised her head and glanced to her right, where Agents 1 and 2 were engaged in yet another banal conversation about the state of the modern music industry. She turned to her left to look at the great Craig Cuttlefish, whose shoes she was now supposed to be filling, taking his fourth nap of the morning. 'Is this really all that awaits me?' she thought to herself with a shudder. She lowered her head, but before she could return to sulking, her ears pricked at a shrill whistling sound. She knew what that meant- the New Agent 3 had arrived.

The younger girl flashed a grin at the older agents and waved, making the Captain bristle. If one thing was not helping her pre-quarterlife crisis, it was the continued presence of her replacement. She had no serious problems with the girl, and as far as being an agent goes, she couldn't ask for a more worthy successor to her title. She was skilled, tenacious, and brave, tackling whatever was thrown at her with zeal, much like the Captain did at her age. They would even look the same, the Captain thought, if the newbie wasn't doing that weird thing with her hair. It was precisely these similarities that rubbed the Captain the wrong way; it was as if she was being forced to look into a mirror at her younger self every day, which only worsened her inner turmoil, and planted the seeds of resentment in her mind. She couldn't help be be jealous as she watched the girl gallivant around the kettles and pop back and forth to a bustling city, as she once did. The Captain was glad that her resting bitch face was constant, because otherwise the others might have noticed her shooting a lot of glares at 3.

After her fellow agents waved back to her, 3 whistled for her buddy, gave the Captain a quick mock salute, and jumped away to another islet. The Captain blew breath through her nose. Maybe she'd been sulking for too long, but she swore that 3 was being extra peppy and cheeky in front of her specifically. All of her little gestures, her cocky grins, her sly victory poses, all of it was starting to seem intentional to the Captain. As if she knew exactly what the older inkling was going through and was reveling in it, dangling her youth in front of her and teasing her, taunting her. The Captain's malaise redirected itself as bitterness towards the upstart, and she balled her fists in her lap. There may have been a change in names, she thought, but part of her felt that she would always be the true Agent Three. The Hero. Notorious on and off of the turf. But when even was the last time she donned her ink tank? And then, an idea came to her. A possible reprieve from what was ailing her. A way to affirm herself and recapture what she was missing, and maybe get a little leg up on her successor in the process. If anything, it would sure as shell beat sitting around all day again. So, when the drone had been powered and everyone started departing for the evening, she cleared her throat as Agent 3 was walking by, and beckoned her over with a single finger.

"Is everything okay, Captain?" the New Agent 3 asked. She was curious as to why she was being spoken to directly- for some reason the Captain always preferred talking to her using somebody else as a mouthpiece.

"...I'm just fine," the Captain lied, "but I'm wondering how you're coming along, agent-wise. So I have an idea, if you're interested."

"Shoot."

"We should spar."

The younger girl's face lit up with interest. "Sparring?"

"You know, a one on one. We used to do them back where I came from. Keeps your skills sharp. The kettles are fine tests, but they don't compare to the real thing, you know."

Agent 3 put a hand on her hip and put on another smug face. "And I guess my outer space mech-battle didn't count?"

The Captain's eye twitched at her boast. "There's always more to learn. I know I can still teach you a few things."

"Really?" 3 asked, skeptically. "Well it sounds fun anyways. You're on! And I know the perfect place..."

And so the Captain found herself sweating under a piercing sun, fanning herself as she waited for 3 to arrive at their meeting place near the Crater. She had ditched her official garb in favor of a layered tee and some simple trainers. 'I shouldn't have agreed to meet her at high noon,' she thought to herself. At least it would ensure a fair bout, with the sun in neither squid's eyes. 'I at least could've brought a hat.'

Soon enough her ears noticed the sound of approaching footsteps, alongside the guttural squawks of a small salmonid. Agent 3 and her little buddy appeared soon after. The girl showed up dressed in a faded tee shirt riddled with tears and holes, some very short shorts, and a pair of sandals. The two ogled each other for moment, taking in the novel sight of each other in civilian dress. The Captain, cocking an eyebrow at 3's chosen gear, spoke up first.

"Do they not like wearing clothes in Splatsville?"

Agent 3 returned the Captain's stare, flaunting her outfit in a slight pose. "It's breathable."

"Just warning you... enemy ink stings a lot more on bare skin."

"Well," 3 retorted, another smirk finding its way to her face, "maybe I don't plan on getting hit."

The Captain clicked her tongue at the agent's words. The gall of this girl! While she liked to keep a low profile, the Captain was pretty sure that at least some stories must have made their way to 3. Here she was, the protege of the legendary Captain Cuttlefish himself, about to take time out of her day to personally mentor 3 on the art of turf war. The least she could do was display a crumb of gratitude, or humility, but the young agent was treating it all like a game. 3 was seriously starting to get on her nerves... even more than beforehand.

"Hmph... we'll see about that. Anyways, go ahead and lead me to this arena of yours before I cook."

"Aye aye, Captain!"

3 led the march through the desert, confidently stepping amongst the rubble and refuse. The Captain recalled, as they walked through rusted structures and dusty trails, that these badlands were 3's home turf. Was the time she spent here scrapping for survival the source of her self-assurance, she wondered? Or was her attitude the result of something more cultural? Apparently the Splatlandians were known to be a rowdier and more aggressive bunch overall. 'But nothing I can't handle,' the Captain assured herself.

After trudging for a few minutes more, 3 eventually led them to the edge of a low ridge, overlooking a number of derelict buildings.

"Right down there," 3 said, pointing. "Whaddya think?"

Her finger gestured towards the remains of an old loading bay. Chain link fences encircled the grounds, which contained a modestly sized area of sand and crumbling blacktop. The wrecked carapaces of cars lay strewn about the field, providing low cover, while a few shipping containers added a vertical dimension to the makeshift map. Coincidentally, the arrangement seemed to be symmetrical... more or less.

The Captain, strategic eyes already scanning the battlefield for avenues of attack, nodded.

"Yes... this will do. Nice find. Well, ready to get started?"

"You know it!"

The Captain strapped her portable ink tank to her back, the vessel soon filling with dark purple ink to contrast Agent 3's bright yellow. She, of course, brought along the trusty Splattershot. She watched 3, who was stooping behind a rock to retrieve the gear she had stashed there. She arose holding her ink tank in one hand and her Tri-Stringer in the other. The Captain couldn't help but cock an eyebrow again.

"Tri-Stringer?" she asked. "You sure about that? Seems... bulky. Not too maneuverable."

3 rolled her eyes at the older inkling. "Me and this baby have been through some tough times together. I'll be just fine."

The Captain merely folded her arms in response.

"So," 3 inquired, "what are the rules?"

"Rules? Well I thought I'd just have you come at me a few times, I give you some pointers, we practice some techniques..."

"But I thought you wanted to spar spar, ya know? Like a face-off? That seems more fun to me anyways."

"...We could do it that way," the Captain responded. She put on her most intimidating face and stared 3 down. "But if we do, I'll warn you... I won't hold back."

3 didn't shy away from the Captain's stern gaze. If anything, it emboldened her, a competitive fire lighting behind her eyes. "I wouldn't want you to hold back. First to three splats, then?"

The Captain chuckled to herself. "You really think you can beat me, don't you?" she muttered. The Captain was already planning to style on her successor a bit as they trained, but just a little bit- just enough to remind her of the weight that the name 'Agent Three' is supposed to carry. But it now sounded like the girl was practically begging for a true reality check. So be it. The Captain had no qualms giving it to her.

"Fine. First to three splats. And no specials- just skirmishing. Clear?"

"Crystal," said 3, grinning.

The Captain nodded, before dropping into swim form, and super jumping to one end of the abandoned yard. A yellow streak in the sky soon touched down on the other end, 3 having left her little buddy on the ridge to act as a silent referee.

"When I say go, we go!" The Captain shouted to the air. "You ready?"

"Always!" 3 shouted back, her voice filled with bravado.

A rare, wicked grin couldn't help but sprout on the Captain's lips. She would try not to enjoy breaking this girl's spirit.... too much.

"GO!"

The Captain leapt from her starting cover, dashing towards the middle of the lot, running and gunning to give her as much turf as possible. Although she was reasonably confident that a stringer vs. shooter match-up was a forgone conclusion, her battle-hardened mind kept her wary. She knew 3 had a huge range advantage. Her plan was to stay in cover and cut sightlines as much as possible as she closed the distance, using her superior ink output to box 3 into a corner, and secure the splat. Reaching the half crumbled kiosk in the middle of the yard, the Captain laid eyes on her opponent. 3 had been turfing her own territory, but wasn't able to cover as large of an area. She was in the process of inking the side of a shipping container, no doubt trying to gain a height advantage. The Captain watched 3 suddenly snap her head towards the kiosk, and there was barely enough time to duck her head back into cover before a trio of explosive bolts whizzed right past her ear. Too close. Time to stay low. After mentally plotting a route which would use the wrecked cars for cover, the Captain executed, swimming in a zig-zag as more bolts descended upon her. 3 arced her shots in an attempt to hit the purple blur, but the Captain was too fast, skillfully dodging, jumping, and juking until she heard 3 swim away in retreat. Emerging from her ink, the Captain quickly laid down enough turf behind her to prevent escape, before turning her attention to the corner of the yard she had successfully trapped 3 into. She didn't need to hunt for long before finding her quarry. 3 was in swim form, clinging onto the yellow-inked side of a container, but the ripples and splashes in the turf easily relayed her position to the Captain, who smirked. 'I can see you, dummy.' she thought. Shouldering her Splattershot, the Captain lined up her shot... before the shape beneath the ink suddenly shot up the container wall at a much higher speed than expected. The Captain could not adjust her aim in time to react, and she was helpless as 3's swim form backflipped off of the wall, sailed over the Captain's head, and shapeshifted, revealing a smiling Agent 3, bow pointed straight down at her superior.

'Oh. That's new.'

The Captain didn't have time for any more thoughts before exploding into a shower of bright yellow.

When she reformed, the Captain's first sight was 3, coyly looking down at her.

"What were you saying earlier Cap? About, 'maneuverability'?"

The Captain grinded her teeth, before standing up straight and raising a pointer finger.

"That was... an impressive move, I admit," she said in an instructive tone, "but don't get cocky. Rule of the battlefield: Overconfidence, is a slow and-"

But she was interrupted by 3, already superjumping back to her side of the yard. "Daylight's wasting, Cap!" She called behind her.

The Captain sighed in exasperation, before following suit.

"GO!"

Intending to press her advantage in the second round, Agent 3 played a bit more aggressively. And it paid off, for soon it was the Captain who found herself pinned down. 3 had pushed her opponent into hiding, and she used her stringer to cover most of the middle turf in yellow ink. Only two splotches of purple remained, one on her left, and one on her right. One of them contained 3's prize. 3 readied a flask of Toxic Mist, and lobbed it onto the patch to her left, eyes peeled for any disturbance. Nothing. Resolved, she leapt down from her vantage point, took aim at the last splash of purple to her right, and unleashed a furious volley of bolts. She had expended half of her ink reserve before she realized that her attack had revealed... nothing, again. She let out a confused "Huh?"

Then she heard a splashing sound right behind her. She whirled around and her eyes went wide- she saw the Captain, confidently trudging straight through the mist, directly towards her. Having built a considerable resistance to the mist over her combat career, the Captain had simply tanked the assault, waiting for the right moment to strike. Though her eyes were watery, her aim was true as she sent the final remaining shots in her ink tank straight at the unprepared agent.

"Rule of the battlefield," the Captain smugly spoke down at the newly reformed 3, "Never assume. Always make sure."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah..." 3 retorted. "It ain't over yet."

The sparring continued. Much to the Captain's annoyance, 3 proved to be far more formidable than she was expecting. The new agent seemed to have the same innate understanding of the battlefield that she did. 3 could shoot, dodge, attack, defend, and dance across the turf with the best of them. All of which made the Captain grumble. Was there anything worse than a pompous gloat... who actually did have the skill to back up their words? What was supposed to be an easy thrashing had turned into a prolonged push and pull, and it only piled onto the Captain's insecurity. Was she really this rusty? This washed up? Although she had been able to secure a second splat at one point with an artfully thrown splat bomb, 3 made her pay for it in the next round by landing an impossible mid-air stringer shot. All the while, 3 waged psychological war with a constant stream of quips and jeers. The Captain found herself tilted before the battle was even over, which threw her game off enough for 3 to get the upper hand in the very last round.

The veteran inkling was on the backfoot, frantically twisting and dodging a rain of explosive bolts. Whenever she tried to grab cover and regroup, 3, who was comfortably entrenched at the kiosk in the middle, sent another volley. Everywhere the Captain tried to step, a trio of yellow charges was awaiting her, and she was running out of usable turf fast. Desperate and enraged, the Captain decided to go for one last hail-mary: charging straight for 3, hopefully overwhelming her. The next time that 3 stopped firing to refill, the Captain did an abrupt 180, painted a purple path straight towards her, and made a beeline for the kiosk. 3 let out a gasp when she emerged from her ink. She was suddenly and unexpectedly face to face with the Captain, who was staring her down with the death glare that had haunted the nightmares of many an Octarian. All 3 could do was flinch as the Captain snapped her gun to her shoulder, squeezed the trigger, and-

click click click click click

In an instant the two inklings swapped expressions. The Captain's jaw dropped. 'I...I forgot to refill?!?' she realized with horror. Her twitching eyes darted back to 3, now wearing the biggest shit-eating grin of the day, already pulling her bowstring tight.

"Oh, Captain...." drawled Agent 3. "Not enough ink to finish the job? Rookie mistake~"

'No... no no NO NO!' The Captain thought. She couldn't lose! Especially not like this, not to... HER! The entire reason she suggested this sparring match was to prove that her time wasn't past, that she was still fresh. But now the exact opposite was about to be proven. Her successor had taken her rank and name, and now she was about to have her pride on top of it. What would happen when 3 inevitably paraded around word of her victory? Or that the once notorious hero had lost by running out of ink? It would all be over. She may as well go home and dehydrate herself that night. 'It can't end like this,' the Captain thought, beginning to shake with frustration. 'It just CAN'T...' There was a sudden sparkle in her eye, and creeping purple flames began to ensconce her head. Sounding a barbaric yawp, the Captain suddenly leaped high into the air, intending to put the entire affair to rest with a Splashdown.

3 just regarded the last resort with a blank expression, before reeling her arm back and hurling her Tri-Stringer directly at the Captain's face.

BONK

The bulky weapon struck true, unceremoniously knocking the Captain back down onto her rear.

"Hey, you're breaking your own rules! No specials, remember?" the younger girl spoke.

The Captain seethed as she rubbed the fresh welt on her temple, before standing up and raising another finger.

"I-I was just testing you!" she claimed, trying to save face. "You can't rely on your enemies to play fair. Rule of the battlefield: Expect the unexpected."

"That's carpshit."

"Okay, how about this one then?" spoke the Captain. With her ink tank now replenished, she swiftly shot at the ground around 3's discarded bow, surrounding it in a large field of purple. "Never, ever, lose your weapon." Turning to face 3 with murderous intent, she shouldered her Splattershot and let loose.

3 tried in vain to swim away, but with no way of producing her own turf, the tide shifted once again in the Captain's favor. Soon 3 had her back pressed against the fence, surrounded by purple turf. Like an advancing predator, the Captain slowly marched up to her, wickedly chuckling to herself.

"You are infuriating, you know that?" the Captain said as she advanced.

3 showed no fear in the face of the Captain. On the contrary, she struck another coy pose, sticking her tongue out at her superior. Then, she suddenly pressed her fingers into her lips, inhaled, and gave a long, shrill whistle. Realization dawned on the Captain's face, and she turned around just in time to be slapped with 5 pounds of flying, angry fish.

3's little buddy had sailed in to the rescue, crawling and nibbling all over a red-faced Captain, who shrieked in surprise.

"Get...off of...me... buddy!" shouted the Captain, flailing her arms and fumbling as she tried to remove the slippery smallfry. Not wanting to let go of her gun, it took some time before the Captain was able to get a firm one-handed grip on the creature chewing on her hair, pry him away, and fling him far over the fences. Freshly enraged, the Captain turned her head to find that, of course, 3 had vanished.

"Where could you be now?" The Captain whispered to herself. With her eyes scanning every remaining splash of yellow ink, she failed to notice 3 slowly tiptoe up behind her.

"Oomph!" The Captain was caught off guard when 3 tackled her from behind, knocking the two to the floor. 3 recovered first and dove for the Splattershot, but the Captain held her grip on her weapon. The two wrestled on the ground, the Captain trying to forcefully shove off 3, who was trying her best to disarm her. At one point the Captain attempted a headlock, but after a swift elbow to the gut 3 freed herself, and then hugged both of her arms around the weapon and pressed both feet into the Captain's side to wrench it free of her grip. When it was too much, the gun finally popped out of her hand, and the victorious 3 quickly took off running with it towards an uninked edge of the yard, laughing all the way. Operating on pure impulsive rage, the Captain dropped into swim form, focused her energy, and blasted off in a super jump- aimed directly at Agent 3.

Having stolen the Captain's shooter, 3 was not expecting to be struck in the back by a hundred-pound ink-seeking missile. She was doubly surprised when said missile transformed into the scowling form of the Captain, who pounced upon the younger girl, straddling and pinning her to the ground with her weight. Always a quick thinker, 3 tossed the Splattershot far away from her. The Captain watched it skitter across the desert floor, but did not take the bait, instead grabbing both of 3's hands and pinning them at her sides.

"No more tricks!" The Captain hissed. "Now I've got you... slippery little eel!" She pressed 3's body further into the sand to emphasize her point.

3 could not help but gulp as she took in the sight looming above her. Her behavior throughout the day had slowly been chipping away at the once stoic Captain, vexing and provoking her until she erupted into a display of raw fury.

"Captain", 3 spoke softly, "I've never seen you like this..."

The Captain, her face red and sweaty from the heat and exertion, continued holding 3 in her iron grip, her exhales coming out as growls.

"...It's seriously hot!"

"Wha-"

But all words left the Captain's lips when 3 suddenly pressed her own to meet them. The younger inkling kissed her Captain with gusto, an exaggerated puckering sound spilling from their mouths. The Captain, stunned, could only stare in wide-eyed bewilderment as her successor locked lips with her. After some seconds, 3 finally withdrew with a wet 'POP', licking her lips and giggling at the boggled Captain, whose mouth was opening and closing like a gasping bass.

"I...uh...what..." The Captain tried and failed to speak as her mind raced. 'Was this another trick?' she thought. 'Some weird strategy to knock me off guard?'

But unbeknownst to the Captain, 3's intentions were genuine. The young inkling had always been intrigued by her commander from the moment they met, but the day's events had accelerated matters. In the Splatlands, competition and aggression were connected with courtship. So as the Captain's anger and zeal grew over the course of their sparring, 3 found herself increasingly titillated. Where others may have backed down at the Captain's intimidating presence, the fiery Agent 3 rose to the challenge, and egged her on even further. And when the usually silent and brooding inkling had pounced onto her with bloodlust in her eyes, 3 couldn't help herself, and she pounced right back.

The Captain was still reeling as 3 got up to her knees and crawled over. She gingerly placed her arms around the Captain's shoulder, and began planting little kisses on the side of her neck, top to bottom. The sensation of 3's warm lips touching down on her collarbone finally snapped the Captain out of her stunlock, and she pushed 3 aside with a shove.

"S-stop that!" she exclaimed, her expression betraying a rarely seen nervousness. "W-we shouldn't... this is wrong." It had to be wrong, right?

3 giggled again. "What's so wrong about it Cap?" 3 said as she trailed her finger along the Captain's arm. "Nobody out here but us~"

The Captain blushed at the touch. "It's just not appropriate! T-there's probably.... power dynamics, and uhm... things... between us... I think we should call it a draw and go back home now, okay?" It was becoming increasingly hard for her to think as 3 continued her soft ministrations.

"But we can't quit now, Cap." cooed 3, as she slid behind the other girl and began a shoulder massage. She brought her beak to the Captain's ears and whispered, "Not when I'm about to win."

In the Captain's mind, a battle tougher than than the one she had just fought was playing out. Her stern, tactical brain kept trying to remind her of the proper course of action for the situation- brush this girl off, admonish her, go back home, and start trying to forget this entire incident. But there was a needier voice in her head. The same voice that had driven her to start this entire endeavor in the first place. 'Why not?' asked the voice. 'We have so many responsibilities, and expectations... why shouldn't we do as we please for once?' And much to the Captain's horror, this second voice was gaining mental turf the longer that 3's stroking hands worked their magic. The Captain began to quiver as her mind raged. Agent 3. That maddening girl. This was all her doing. All her fault...

3 paused her massage when the Captain's shaking became noticeable.

"You alright there Cap?" she asked.

The older inkling's eyes were clamped shut as she shook, and shook, before suddenly going still. She took a deep inhale, and breathed out through her nose. Then all at once, her eyes flew open, she whirled around, seized Agent 3 by the shoulders, and pinned her to the ground once again. The Captain slowly took in the form of the excited girl beneath her, looking up and down her body with narrowed eyes, before leaning in close, her breath caressing 3's skin.

"You little brat." she whispered.

3 bit her lip.

The Captain dove in. She hungrily made out with her apprentice, groaning as she kissed her. 3 pushed back with equal enthusiasm, purring in satisfaction at finally breaking through the Captain's guard. The make out session was obscenely passionate, both inklings stroking the other's skin and rolling around in the sand. Eventually, the Captain broke apart the embrace to leer at 3's athletic body, before sliding both of her arms under her threadbare shirt. 3 breathily moaned aloud as the Captain groped her chest. She wasn't gentle with her, firmly pawing and squeezing to make the younger girl squeal. But she was interrupted, freezing at a sudden sensation at her midriff. 3, aiming to return the favor, had snaked a free hand to the Captain's stomach, and was slowly trailing downwards-until the Captain swatted her hand away with a huff. 'No.' thought the Captain. She had grown tired of 3- tired of being outmatched, tired of her teasing, of how her entire presence drove her mad. She wanted to be in charge here. She still needed to be taught a serious lesson.

So the Captain used her strong arm to grab 3's wrists, and she firmly planted them to the ground above her head. 3 shivered in excitement at how exposed this vulnerable position left her, and with how predatory the Captain was currently staring at her. After some deliberation, the Captain brought her right knee up, and firmly planted it down into 3's groin.

"O-oh!" 3 cried out.

The Captain relished in her dominance, finally able to vent all of the day's stress right towards the source of her frustration. She viciously forced her knee deeper and deeper, causing 3 to wail. There was no other way to describe the scene than utter punishment, 3's eyes bulging out as her brain was overloaded with pain and pleasure. Once her knee could go no further, the Captain began moving it, scouring 3's shorts with tortuously slow but forceful circles. The corners of the Captain's lips tugged into a slight grin as she erased any composure 3 had, reducing her into a sputtering, quaking mess. The younger girl's toes curled, her legs flailed, and her tongue lolled out as she let her wanton screams echo into the empty desert air. None of it phased the Captain, using her superior physique to hold the girl steady while she plodded away like a relentless machine.

Minutes of the addictive agony passed before 3 could endure no more.

"P-please!" she managed to gulp out between labored breaths. "Please!"

It wasn't clear to the Captain if she was begging for less... or more. Either way, she didn't care. She only let out a mocking coo as she brought her face down close to Agent 3's. She parted her beak and drew 3's hanging tongue into it, suckling on her muscle for a bit before moving back in for another ravenous kiss. The Captain captured all of 3's hot, strained breaths in her mouth as she worked her lips, her kneework still going strong all the while. She soon paused the kiss to move her mouth beneath 3's eyes, a tongue darting out to savor the salted tears streaming from them. If the Captain still saw Agent 3 as a reflection of her younger self, then she treated her in this moment as her own personal fountain of youth. And she drank her up greedily.

The Captain never indulged in any kind of behavior like this in her life, and she was quite surprised at how hot and bothered it made her. She slithered her free left hand into her own leggings to give herself some pleasure, while she switched out the circles she had been drawing on 3's crotch with fast, rough thrusts. The change in rhythm made Agent 3 squeal, and she bucked her hips and yelped every time the Captain's kneecap pounded into her.

Eventually, it all proved too much. 3 wrapped her legs around the Captain's back, screaming out in ecstasy as she climaxed. The Captain soon followed her in relief, rolling her hips into her left hand as she tensed and let out a breathy "Haaahhh....." The two inklings collapsed, the Captain crushing the younger girl for a moment before rolling off of her, lying by her side as she panted and stared up at the cloudless blue sky. Next to her, 3 drew shaky breaths as she recovered from her thrashing.

"Holy shit, Captain." 3 stammered out between inhales.

Her voice snapped the Captain out of her brain fog, and a wave of post-coital clarity crashed into the older inkling like a tidal wave. 'Oh cod... what did I just do?' she thought. The romp had dissipated all of the anger and tension she had been feeling, and she balked at the memory of the last fifteen minutes. How could she lose control like that? It was so unlike her. And 3... she had been so rough with 3. Was she okay? Was she mad?

The sensation of 3's hand gently clasping her own put those thoughts to rest.

"I'd say you definitely won this one..." 3 spoke with a giggle. Then another one of her signature, cocky smirks returned. "But next time, I'll be ready for you!"

The Captain continued to lie next to her, ruminating. In a way, she had gotten exactly what she wanted out of this "sparring" session. Getting outside, hitting the turf again, feeling the heat of battle- it had been fun. Even the mounting rivalry she had with 3 was an excellent diversion from the existential crisis she was battling before. And as for the unexpected turn it took... she couldn't deny it. Her hearts were pounding, her spirit had been kindled, and in that instant she lay blushing and sweating under the hot Splatland sun feeling awake, alive, and fresh once again. Would this feeling last, she wondered? Where did her and Agent 3 stand now, exactly? Where would things go from here? What would happen next? She decided she didn't want to think about it yet. She had all the time in the world ahead of her to worry about it, didn't she?

The Captain squeezed 3's hand back, giving it an affectionate brush with her thumb. She snuggled into the warm sand and savored the heat on her skin.

Just for today, she'd live in the moment.
