The bottoms were scored and released.

In addition to the few wild bass, the pond was filled with another generation of female sea bass to help increase the sea bass population with the desired young female fish and to add a new class of recruitment. These new basses were also pit tagged to help identify them and track growth rates over the years.
Throughout the 2016 growing season, fish feed, as well as a high-quality plankton bloom, was used to help boost the forage base. Keeping the forage base well fed has played a key role in successful fishing.

The fishery appeared to be on the right track when another growing season came to an end. The pond had experienced minimal fishing pressure thus far, so during the summer of 2016 we weren't sure how good the bass was doing as we had no fishing reports.

That fall, the pond was electrofished and sampling effort revealed that the fishery was on track, with the seabass stocked with an average Wr of 119. In the process of assessing the fishery, another 19 wild bass were caught from upstream.

With things going on

Well, little needed to be done during the winter months to keep the fishery on track. The top item on the winter to-do list was to simply watch out for the otters' signals and catch them once they were present. With a little more time under our belt and four less otters in the world, it was early spring 2017 and the water temperature was beginning to rise. The mild winter left us anticipating slightly higher winter fish growth than we normally see.

Our spring 2017 electrofishing effort showed that the fishery was thriving. The bass were huddled in the shallow water, and they put on a thrilling acrobatic show as they tried to evade the electric field produced by the electric fishing boat. The young bass were remarkably robust and had vibrant colors.
In the process of recapturing 40 of the stored female seabass, we also removed another 12 seabass that came from upstream, which brought the two years
