enjoy these cool sites
stallman.org
oldschool free and open source software enjoyer that has interesting views (some are true some are funny)
allsides.com
news and see the same news from other sides.
san.com
these guys say they arent biased, im a sheep, so i believe.
(i dont browse news sites when im on my computer machine, i use newsboat, unless i want to view media (im sure i can find a way to get shit to play using mpv, but im a sub 50 iq male))
budgetbytes.com
some of my peers spend around $100 USD on getting food delivered to their house, heres a cool recipe site for everyone. cooking n00b?
typa shit i been on

only OS's i run on my hardware
debian laptop OS
why? because i need my laptop to work, for a long long time. and flatpak exists
NixOS desktop OS
i was running arch for a while. but i was too stupid to keep an install for more than a year at a time. i tried out NixOS and at first it was an uphill battle, but after a few days of use, im a fan. only thing that sucks is rimpy (a mod manager for rimworld) doesnt play well with it. i still recommend arch(install) to users who can read, and still use it for VMs
ubuntu server server OS
tbh, i should be using debian/proxmox, but i was an alcoholic when i started self hosting stuff, and went with what i thought was the easiest server OS to get into. im kicking myself in the ass now because helper scripts exist.
i'll be putting a list together sometime soon of the things i have running on my server (jellyfin+'helper' stack, immich, copyparty, just to name a few)
what should you install?
probably cachyos. imagine endevoros, but you can get to gaymen after a few clicks and a restart. (updated 8/23/25)
###### nobara for you
"i am sick of using windows and just wanna goom (game)."
this shit runs right out the box and is ran by the same dude who handles Proton GE. simple as (some manual fixing needed every other update)
i am no longer suggesting nobara now because of bazzite
bazzite if you're scared.
if you dont want to lift a finger. and are SCARED of using linux
Universal Blue is a team of OG's that maintain this shit. 'backed' by fedora, who is backed by RHEL. no need to goom? aurora or bluefin
warning these are immutable systems. if you want to install weird programs then you will have to get into containerization, which is easy (preinstalled with bazzite) however you need to do a lil bit of work to install some things (like Mullvad VPN)
basically these distros are GREAT for end users who just want "use dey computer", and you dont them to have want ANY** issues.
(** i have had an issue with firefox going grapes-up 10 times a day, after an update there were no more issues. please remember these distros are made by guys in their spare time)
research use only
the link above is supposed to take you to a chinese basket weaving image board. if it takes you anywhere else, that is a genuine mistake
it stands for "placeholder"
