BYI !!
I'M SENSITIVEㅤI process things deeply, so certain interactions can stick with me more than intended. Tone can be tricky for me to read; tone tags aren’t required, but they do help a lot!!! (/gen, /j, /lh, etc.). I’m okay with jokes, but please try to avoid harsh or “mean” humor unless we’re already close... I tend to overthink messages that seem blunt or cold, so a little warmth goes a long way for me :,3 If I misunderstand you, I PROMISE I’m not trying to start anything y'all. Just ask for clarification kindly. GIVE ME TIME TO RESPOND SOMETIMES!! I need a moment to process what’s being said at times, especially if it’s emotional or confusing. Please avoid heavy topics without warning around me, unless you're close. I can handle serious conversations, but a heads-up helps me mentally prepare :-) Don't feel like you're walking on eggshells around me lol. I just value respectful, clear communication, and it helps me feel safe being myself.
I'M SOCIALLY AWKWARDㅤI don’t do well being thrown into new social situations; If you want to introduce me to your friends, please give me a heads-up first. If it’s sudden, I’ll probably stay silent the whole time. I need time to warm up to new people. I might be super shy at first, but I can open up if I feel safe and comfortable with you. I DISTANCE MYSELF SOMETIMES—it’s not personal, I just need breaks from interaction, even with close friends. I struggle with communication at times. I might overthink my words, respond slowly, or not know how to reply right away. I have a hard time maintaining friendships. My anxiety and low social energy make it hard to keep up with people regularly, even if I care about them a lot.
I’m overprotective of my favorite characters... if I strongly relate to a character (like Fluttershy), they basically become my emotional support blorbo. I’m not literally them, but I do project onto them… heavily!! If you say you’re their “#1 fan,” I will jokingly (but also kind of seriously, sorry) side-eye you because I am. It’s dumb, I know, but it’s just how my brain works. If I get "possessive" over a fictional character, it’s never meant to start drama. It’s just a mix of comfort, self-identification, and waaay too much emotional attachment.
I process things slowly seomtimes. My brain just works at its own pace. I’m not stupid, I promise. I just take longer to understand, respond, or process what’s going on.
I GET ATTACHED QUICKLYㅤThis is a big one for me, so it might be longer than the others!! I don’t have many friends (literally, like two very close ones... hi Danny and Sushi :D), and besides them, I’m pretty much alone. I don’t have a friend group, I don’t have family I talk to, and I don’t leave my room except for work on weekends. A lot of that is because I do online school and struggle badly with social anxiety, both in real life and online. Because of that, whenever someone new decides to be my friend, there’s a very high chance I’ll form an emotional attachment to them. It’s not in a smothering way. I won’t spam your DMs 24/7 or cling so tightly you can’t breathe. It’s more subtle than that. I just start to think of you as important really fast. I might talk about you fondly, get excited when you message me, or feel genuinely safe around you, even if we haven’t known each other long. If you’re kind to me, I will immediately go “oh my god, a friend!! latch onto them they’re one of my people!!” and I latch on quietly. I crave connection, but I struggle to maintain it. My shyness, social awkwardness, and tendency to isolate myself make it hard to maintain friendships. So if you stick around despite that, it means the world to me. At the end of the day, if we’re friends, you’ll probably get the “loyal puppy” side of me. I’ll root for you, listen to you, support you, and stick by you the best I can. All I ask is a little patience and understanding that when I attach, it’s genuine.
If I’m not distancing myself but I’m just feeling “off,” I might not be as energetic or talkative as usual. I’ll still engage, but it’ll mostly be through quick reactions or emojis (especially on Discord). If you’re in my inner circle, I’ll feel safe enough to just exist around you without forcing words out. Emojis or tiny replies = my way of saying “I’m still here, I just don’t have the energy to talk right now.” With regular friends, I usually push myself to talk more. Not because I’m faking, but because I don’t want them to think I dislike them or that I’m ignoring them. Me being quiet≠disinterested. It’s not me being bored; it’s just how I cope when my social battery is low, but I still want to be present. Sometimes, just existing in silence with someone, reacting with little emojis, feels better than trying to force a conversation.
