Chapter XXXIV: The Northern Rising
April 6th, 1112 VTE, the Schwanenpalast, Grünewald, Markgraf of Grünewald, Kingdom of Pomerania
Count Pomeralius-Karl was eagerly awaiting the news of Pomerlane's crossing into Pomerania for the past few days. The Gefürsteter Graf (Princely Count) had along with the Markgraf of Grünewald, Landgraf of Leuchtenberg, the Fürst of Jascke, and the Counts of Rodenbach and Ratzeburg-Schwerin, formed what became known as the "Albingian League" 6 years previously to represent the interests of the Princes within the Albingian Peninsula as a counterweight to the Salzwedels, Hudtwalckers and Pomura factions that dominated Pomerania politics.

Glückstadt himself, despite not being the most powerful of the lords in the league was the popular choice amongst his fellow lords to be its leader considering his reputation as a wise and noble Prince. He was 52 years old and had been ruling his County for 16 years now, overseeing great civil projects and generally staying out of wars unless called upon by the King. He hated the ruling powers in Pomerania for the crimes they had committed against other princes, including against a personal friend of his, Pomerlane's father.
He himself had tried to convince the other league members without success the previous year, but with the success of their rivals in Eliria had become worrisome so when a League Council was called in March to discuss this, Glückstadt along with the Empress herself managed to convince the league to commit itself to the Imperial cause. They would raise their armies and gather at the city of Grünewald. Glückstadt, as league leader, would be in command of this army of 18,000. All that was left now was for the word to arrive from the South.
As Glückstadt was eating lunch with his fellow nobles, a messenger came in bearing the news they had been waiting for
"Your Majesty, I have a letter for you and the other Noble lords here from Pomerlane."
The messenger hands Glückstadt the letter, which he goes over before looking up "Comrades, it is time for the backs of our rivals to be broken by the noble Prince of Greifswald. To arms!"
The room erupts in cheers and the men quickly head to get ready to depart that evening. Events in Pomerania were heating up rapidly and a noose was closing around Pomulius' neck that he would be hard pressed to escape without some bold actions of his own.
