Notes

On Infantry

Each Infantry Brigade consists of three Regiments, which in turn have two Battalions in them.

Each Infantry Battalion is made up on paper of 820 men, but all of the battalions are understrength, roughly having about 400 to 600 men in them. These Battalions were subdivided into 8 Companies of 100 men on paper, with a Grenadier Company of 120 men.

Grenadier Companies were often detached to form ad-hoc Grenadier Regiments in Battle to serve as shock units. Grenadiers were the tallest and strongest men in a battalion. By this point, the grenade was out of fashion because they were heavy to carry into battle, had a short range and the process of lighting and throwing one under fire often wasn't forth it. Imagine a Grenadier being killed in a volley after just lighting a fuse and the grenade going off on your own ranks.

Both sides do not have dedicated light infantry companies yet but use irregulars for this purpose in smaller numbers.

On Cavalry

Cavalry Brigades are organized into three Regiments with two Battalions in them

Each Cavalry Battalion is made up of 660 men on paper, but like infantry, they are understrength as well, with about 400 to 550 men on average.
These Battalions are divided into 6 Squadrons, which on paper have 110 troopers.

Cavalry Regiments, unlike their infantry counterparts have specialized roles.
-Hussars and Lancers (Uhlans) performed the role of light cavalry, which was screening, scouting and skirmishing. They were also able be just as powerful as their heavier cousins if unleashed on unready enemies. Both have their differences as well, mainly in weapon of choice.
-Carabiniers, Cuirassiers, and Dragoons perform the role of Heavy Shock Cavalry that when used properly can turn the tide of battle with their sheer force and weight of attack. Dragoons are the lighter of the three and can dismount to fight as infantry with their carbines. Cuirassiers are the contemporary version of medieval knights and are rightfully feared for their ability to break enemy lines. Carabiniers, while there are many versions including light cavalry versions, in this instance are a mix of Dragoons and Cuirassiers. They can fire their carbines on horseback as skirmishers and wear the armor of the Cuirassiers.
-Cavalry Brigades are usually organized based upon these distinctions.

On Divisions

Each Division deploys its brigades into line formation, in which each regiment in a brigade has one battalion in the first line and the second behind it in the second line.

Each Division has a company of Divisional Artillery attached to it.

Cavalry Divisions, because of the nature of the composition of Cavalry do not follow the same rules or use the same formation.

The "Garde Division" is unique in that it has an infantry and cavalry brigade in it.

Campaign Notes

Prince Lichtenstein was sent with his two cavalry brigades from the Black Army to reinforce Quedlinburg when Pomulius' move was realized. His force has been integrated into an overall Cavalry Corps under Lichtenstein's Command. This corps is divided into two divisions, Gückelsberg's Cavalry Division is Lichtenstein's former division and Lagercrantz's Cavalry Division from the Archducal Army.
