Opening

Ren Hana is easily the best written character in BTD/TPOF history and the best character Gatobob has ever written.

Why, you may ask, and my asnwer is how well executed and amazing abuse is told through him. He's basically a PERFECT representation for abuse and Stockholm.

Unrelatadly Ren Hana is the only character that appears in EVERY game in the series.
which is amazing for how his character development is shown.
1st game{Boyfriend to Death}, he's Strade's captive
2nd game{BTD: Fresh Blood}, he's now the kidnapper
3rd game{The Price of Flesh}, he's the announcer / seller.

Chapter 1: is Ren actually a good person? or was it in his fate?

About TPOF, one thing about Ren (who's called "The Fox" for basically dark web privacy reasons in TPOF, it's like his streaming persona there.) that he's in DENIAL of his trauma. because in TPOF he becomes way worse than Strade himself. but in his words, he states that even if he never met Strade this is how he always would've turned out. but BT2/Fresh Blood proves this WRONG. because i  bt2fb, Ren is shown to MIMIC Strade; literally wearing his clothes, using the same weaponds as him, the ".. anything?" dialogue.....
Ren literally just simply doesn't like the possibility of being anything like his abuser.

FURTHERMORE, there is an ending where mc (or y/n, whatever you want to call it)
comforts Ren and realty checks him, leading to Ren letting mc go, realising his mistakes and giving mc his number. This ending shows us that Ren is overall secretly a good person.

Ren being a good person literally shows through the entirety of BTD2, the way he only tries to hurt mc if he thinks it's necessary like when MC tries to run or fight. Ren lets MC roam in the house, gives MC proper meals, etc.
Moreover; beimg killed in Ren's route is harder than surviving, while in Strades route its EXTREMELY HARD TO SURVIVE.

Ren basically doesn't enjoy what he's doing. he just thinks it's what he's supposed to do, and believes that's the only form of love that can be shown, because he was never shown any other kind  of "love".
He doesn't just like what he's doing but he just feels entitled to do it and believes that's what mc's going to like, because his former "love" enjoyed these.
as a victim of abuse and grooming I think this is EXTREMELY relatable and accurate to reality, doing bad things just because you think it's what you have to do it and simply believing it's love is exactly what abuse CAN do to someone. (speaking from experience 😭/nav)

Also Ren isn't actually a cannibal, he's a demon

CHAPTER 2: Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm syndrome is something else that's extremely well executed in BTD/2. The way Ren gets all defensive and aggressive when MC tells him what Strade did to him wasn't love. The way he looks at Strade dying in BTD1 shows care. it shows that Ren truly loves Strade, just that stare alone.

Ren generally always believes that Strade loved him. he DEFENDS Strade with all his might.

CHAPTER 3: Lawrance.

Lawrance and Ren was a hopeless love story. If in Ren's route Lawrence never died, they were going to be the unhealiesy couple EVER. Now, Lawrence respects boundaries etc. , Ren also does, and they both love eachother and don't mean HARM. but both are unreasonably and incredibly obsessive and unhealthy for eachother. No matter how they both care, they both wanted to love eachother to death, literally.

LITERALLY they both met up to kidnap eachother, especially Ren.. 😭.
And I think what they both did to MC tells more than enough.

CHAPTER 4: what I DIDN'T like about Ren.

I think Gato should've payed more attention to Ren's religious trauma... does he even have any? He canonically escaped a cult. which gets forgotten a LOT. His mom was in a cult, which associates him with the cult, which was canonically the reason he ran away from Japan. Maybe we could've seen some religious trauma like aspects in his character, I just don't think he acts lile a cult survivor at all. or we could've atleast seen something related to his mother issues... like if there's no character traits related, why were we told by Gato that his mom was in a cut and he ran away from her in the first place?

CONCLUSION.

I think Ren is an AMAZING representation of PTSD, Stockholm Syndrome, S/A / Abuse and the affects of it and grooming. Would appreciate if Gato payed attention to his cult related past. Lawrance and Ren would've never ended well. I hate Strade !!

Ren is my absolutely favourite way to execute "abused becomes abuser" and "cannibalism as a metaphor for love " tropes as well omg.

..........................................................
And yeah I think this is the end, this was Ren Hana explained ny a psychology nerd, grooming / abuse victim who's suspecting Stockholm Syndrome 😭, as well as having a fictive of him

I love Ren Hana
