So it has been bought to my attention is that Microsoft has entirely rebranded Office, yet again. Now, the original rebrand? Dumb. The rebrand that they're currently doing? Abysmal.

Turns out they entirely rebranded Office to become "Microsoft 365 Copilot". Now, originally Microsoft 365 was meant to be the name for this consolidated family of apps across multiple platforms across the cloud, that had apps like Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook as well as the Office Suite, meaning Office was rebranded to Office 365. (yes 365 and Office 365 are indeed completely different from each other despite the fact that they basically aren't)

Office afaik was then rebranded into 365's Copilot app, despite the fact Copilot has multiple standalone apps for every platform with Microsoft apps, as well as a web version.

Now, if you don't know me, I do not like AI, I infamously hate AI, and if I had my own class of students, I would have it so that AI is banned. Assuming all this is true, that means the thing that we've using to.. let's say.. make documents has been rebranded with AI slop. i get that people think AI is the future, but forcing people to go with the times, making people have to use AI or else.. this is just one road to a dystopian future where nothing good can happen.

I don't like it, and if Microsoft continues doing this, I will not be afraid to switch to Linux.
