Buzzwords De-Buzzed: 10 Alternative Ways To Say Robot Vac

Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Look for one that offers an easy navigation, can sweep corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that requires emptying only periodically.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves This is an advantage essential for families with pets or children. A majority of the top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're excellent in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When robotic vacuum cleaner sale i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot via the app or via voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums with cords that are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households, but it also fits perfectly next to a coffee table or on the bookshelf, where you can move it around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It quickly converts from handheld to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.

The model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is an average and not a remarkable run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's still enough time to clean most of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to clean every spot (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to invest in a robot. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top selections and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often runs out of battery power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, as it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most popular mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and more. The app is easy to navigate and use similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tried, which might be a problem for some shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you check in on your children or pets when you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that's self-emptying, which helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They have an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This lets them clean the area for a longer period of time. They also include two side sweepers for cleaning along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which detects the presence of dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts its power level. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.

The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For example, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border, without notifying the edge. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
