A—somewhat—tall fox lady walked into the debriefing room where you were held. She was just in a sports bra and sweatpants, along with a suit jacket that was only being attempted to be worn. It was off her shoulders and just on her arms, anyways. She held a cup of coffee and a metal clipboard. Bright red eyes squinted at you.
"You're the new recruit, right?" She yawned. "Either that, or you're from another department or agency and need an introduction. Same difference, since I'm Director Rho, and this is the Sympathetics Department. That I direct."
Director Rho squinted, then slowly blinked, and brought the mug of coffee to her lips, taking a long drink of the stuff. "Fuck, I love how they made my tongue unburnable. Finally something good out of R&D." She opened her eyes, still muttering.
"Why can't they get Tag to do this?"
The fox's eyes moved to you. "Yeah, this clipboard doesn't have anything about you. It's for kicking ass and taking names. Well, kicking ass because of taken names. And I mostly get those from the SIGINT and HUMINT guys."
She paused to think. "I have compelled people to divulge their allies' names, and it's not the clipboard that does the ass-kicking, either."
Director Rho set the mug down on a file cabinet. She rolled her shoulders and telekinetically held the clipboard a few centimeters above her palm. She mimed throwing a few times. "Well, it is solid metal—a little bit of TK and, fuck, right into the orbital. Daaamn."
Dir. Rho brought the mug back to her hand.
"I've been trying for years make it mandatory for everyone in the Agency to learn telekinetic magic. Useful in and out of combat. What, some civvy scientist or clerical whatever working here isn't gonna have a gun, and if they did, they'd treat it like it's some venomous snake they're holding. In the meantime, their brain could get scattered across the room, or some dipshit unlicensed mage could turn their torso to slag. Even if they aren't gonna fling file cabinets or chunks of floor at such problems, they could make a barrier, or something. Ya know?"
She took another long sip from her coffee. "Well, this is gonna be a short tour-troduction, because I've got a nap at 1500 hours calling my name."
