His Tactics for Scamming

  1. Find an Easy Target by Testing Their Boundary

I lent him 20k back in Summer of 2020 for a deal he was having with my (ex) bulk buyer, and it was meant to return to me after that deal was done, but then he decided to test my boundary and said he wasn’t able to give them back to me on time because that deal went awry and he got into some serious legal trouble with the Feds, meanwhile maintaining none of his guys knew the merchandise was stolen. My reaction was a very straightforward “You can use that 20k for your lawyer fee and return to me later on.” That’s how he found out that I was an easy target. Aim for the long scam once you've found the easy target for maximum profit.

There is also the fact that I generally am okay with letting trusted people use my money as long as they return them as promised, because I am not doing anything with the money anyways, why not let others use it if it can help them? I'm just not a fan of hoarding resources. That's why I lent him 20k to begin with. I did not gain anything at all from doing so; it was just an act of kindness since I wasn't gonna use the 20k anytime soon anyways, and I trusted him enough for it.

  1. Find Trusted People Each Other Know

I wasn’t really paying attention to him at all until one day he asked about what bulk buyer I was selling to, and it turned out that he actually had been doing deals with my (ex) main bulk buyer regularly and was, in fact, currently doing a 250k deal as verified by my (ex) main bulk buyer as well. An admin in a group that I was in for years knows him well too. Later, they (the said admin and MagicMouse) asked me if I can make him an admin in my group chat for buying refunded Apple electronics and I agreed to it.

  1. Talk about How Difficult his life is to Earn Sympathy

More specifically about how his expenses lately are through the roof due to his lawyer fee, his newborn baby and his wife’s lavish lifestyle. He kept talking about how retention fee alone for a lawyer is 10k, how expensive baby is, and how his wife bought a new 2020 Tesla, which he seemingly disapproved. He seemed very stressed about not having enough money to cover it all and made it all look like it is all out of his control. I lent him 20k for his lawyer fees and subsequently for him to use to refund Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Costco.

  1. Talk About How Long He’s Been in the Business

Sometimes he vented about missing out on all the potential deals because of his baby taking up all his time and that most people deal with him and him only. He also talked about how big some of the deals were (millions worth) and that one of his buddies' amazon store netting 150k a month and another buddy owns 2000 BTC, so on and so forth.

  1. Maintain His Vouched Status

This refers to all the vouches that he’s been getting from all my customers who have been selling to him successfully. He has a dedicated vouch channel and posted a lot of vouches on there back in the days; the vouch channel was later purged by him.

  1. Be Open with His life

He wasn’t shy about sharing photos of him and his family, where he lives and what his real name is, etc. My friend has even been to his house to sell him items and all went well.

It won't be an issue for him since pulling off a successful scam of 66 BTC means that he can afford to buy another house to move into.

  1. Build up Trust, Little by Little

He claimed to know next to nothing about bitcoins except how volatile it is but due to the recent bull run, some of the guys he’s been doing business with started to ask for payment in BTC, and thus he began to ask if he can borrow like 0.5 BTC for his deal and he will exchange the exact BTC amount back to me, saying his buddy who owns 2000 BTC does exchange. It started slow and with low amount 0.5 BTC and in no time he’s been asking to borrow amounts like 5 to 10 BTC regularly. He’s kept his promises and sent them back, and occasionally (not always) with a little extra on top.

Note: He had returned the 20k he owed by then, but unbeknownst to me, the 20k was meant for my customer’s items. He told his buyer to pay me for the items my customer sent him, and that customer didn’t let me know about her getting scammed until it’s too late.

  1. Play the Victim’s Card

I refused to lend him anymore BTC after already lending him 35 BTC two days prior, and he started to freak out, saying how important those deals are, how it could finally turn his life around for him, and how he doesn’t understand why I would refuse when he’s been sending them back for the past few months.

  1. State His Deals Are All Legal

I was concerned about him needing so much BTC in such short period of time, but he’d hinted many times in the past about getting a weed selling permit and that those BTC are for weed deals. And all BTC will be converted back to me via bank wire etc.

  1. Find Common Interests

He tried talking about gaming but we shared no common interest.

  1. Distance Your Target from Their Friends

The said admin in point 2 who has been dealing with both me and him once cautioned me to not lend money to magic that recklessly, and MagicMouse was quick to talk shit about him, in an attempt to distance me from that person.
