This is a post specifically about guest characters in Project Nortubel.
This is written in the case I'd get to work on certain characters made by friends, just to give them basic enough cameos in the game.
It's written way too soon but enough to have time to think about things and details.

Who is planned to be added?

If you're reading this, you might be one of the people mentioned on the list below.
If you're not anyone with a character and are just a stranger who stumbled upon this... I dunno.

So, here's the stuff about other people's character in Nortubel:

Sprites

Nortubel has a weird resolution that is why character sprites are the way they are.
Some details aren't shown, so I have to select some and see if they can still be visible.
Though plenty of 2D games already have this sort of "minimalism" in mind, I guess.
Plus, the AnimatedSprite node being at a size of like 0.72 behind the scenes (This goes for adult/regular characters, while short characters have their node at 0.64... why? Bunch of weird stuff behind the scenes).
It's also not a secret that I "draw" sprites using models posed in Blender just to get something quick and dirty.

States

Certain NPC's have more states besides one where they're just there with a basic line.
The 3 interactions to see the states are the attack/knife one, the "hug" one (Pressing F) and a "honk" one (Q + S).
Bonka for example simply stands in some place with a few lines and then you use the basic interactions to get new lines from her.
Some NPC's have different sprites but there's always cases where they don't change sprites.

Dialogue/lines

Basically, texts that need to fit the character, both in English and Portuguese
Even if it's like 4 texts based on different states (Idle, Hurt, Hug, Honk)
The creator of a guest character may want to think of how a character talks in regards to both the setting they're used in and who they react to the basic interactions
And because the characters do not originate from the settings, they obviously comment on the setting like Sarah comparing Krimb-Stone to Seaside City from her game.

Specific gimmick

Sarah had the ability to hurt the Player a second time after being attacked (But not reach 0 due to some bug I wanted to avoid).
Not sure if I'd have to come up with something for another character, due to my skills etc.

Additional art

Like the one from the Yellow Paintings in levels.
I drew the DOJD one with Carrie and Sarah talking about fish while Bonka is confused at Bonko (Who was specifically created to reference Nortubel in DOJD)
I wonder if some other crossover-ish art could involve certain characters of mine interacting with outside characters
Because if an artist were to draw for my game, they'd have to consider the weird resolution and all

Credits

Important because I recently added a credits button in the game's main menu, but the DOJD artwork in Krimb-Stone shows the name of the game.
Which makes me think that any potential illustration could show the name of someone's project or at least an artist's name (Even if the name has to be "not-so-stylish" enough so people can read it).
Or even a "lore text" with an artist's name so people know who made a certain character.

Who is added

Sarah from Dreams of Joy Departed
This has to do with Horbror once playing my game enough to eventually like it more and even doing a Bonka reference as a character in DOJD's third act.
And eventually, I played that game myself and liked it.

Faygo by Slapson.
She's a clown girl with stretchy limb powers.
She's planned for the third level of Brinkaedea.
Ideally, she promises to show you a cool magic trick if you find her balloons.
This means she has a "trade item" system like Ricotto (KrimbLevel2) and Karoline (MassagLevel1).
Finding and giving her the balloons reveals a moving platform that has one of her stretchy arms carrying it, as it moves up and down.
And for art, there's an illustration of her poking Bonka's nose with a stretched up arm.

Ganyah by Fairy God-Bomber.
She's a sorceress you can find in Nort part 3 level 3.
Destroy all targets (Instead of just 7) in the level to access her and her art.

Anna Fresser from Dreadhunter, by hemoglobinworld.
Massag-Coav level 2 has an area where you can find Anna swimming in water.
Using a valve lowers the water, so you can reach an area with health while Anna gets bothered by the fact you interrupted her swimming.
Her art involves showing tuna to McSherry.

Xemarokk by MarkerSlayer.
A giant warlord you'll find in Greklevel3.
Because he's huge, he acts as something solid you can collide with.
He blocks a certain path and comments on how puny everything around him is.
But with a pushable object, you can get above his shoulders and he's like "uh, maybe you're not as dumb as you look".
His art involves him facing off Yiegour.

Punch Monkey by ChillyGameDev.
Found on Brinkaedea level 2, you give him a banana and he punches a ceiling so you can get some things.
Kinda similar to Faygo in some ways.
Art has him having his skills tested by Barney.

Dirk the Adventurer by Madness_Inside
Herrko level 1.
An idea I can get away with is a "hide and seek" game.
You see Dirk normally but if you get close, he runs away and gets behind some rock.
Then you have this area where you have these tiles/props in front.
If you find Dirk, he gets up and says he needs to improve his stealth skills.
Art has him interact with Pebble like she's offering something while he also wonders if she's related to his game's goblins.

Batty Vamps by Frenchfriesguy
What I ended up with for Untotern level 1 is a basic minigame with a bat and Batty comments on how you'll never beat it.
If you do, she gets kinda surprise you did and a door opens revealing some art of her interacting with Kalub and Aliss.
