Why No One Cares About Peugeot 3008 Key Fob
What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob
Peugeot Key Fob is a useful feature that allows drivers to start their vehicle from the distance. This is useful in cold or hot weather and allows drivers to warm the engine and the interior before getting inside the vehicle.
Dealerships can program new Peugeot keys however, only if they have the time. At KeyNOW, we can cut programming, cut and give new Peugeot keys to you, a lot quicker.
Keyless Entry
Along with opening and locking your car doors, some key fobs can also be used to start the engine. This is useful when you have to leave the vehicle on hot days, or if you're carrying large items in the trunk which make it difficult to open the door manually. Press the unlock button on the key fob a few times to unlock the vehicle. The door locks should close and the red LED light will start to flash. If this doesn't happen the battery in your key fob may be dead and needs to be replaced. Alternately RF interference caused by nearby buildings could affect your system.
Another cool feature is that some key fobs have a hidden physical key to unlock the car (often only for the door of the driver, but sometimes for the boot too). They can usually be accessed by opening the flap on the fob, or a button on the case. The key's physical part can slide out of a slot in the case to access the lock.
Key fobs are susceptible to being damaged by water - especially when the chips within them are exposed to salty or soapy water. In certain instances a chip that has been damaged could cause key fobs not to function. In this case, the key fob must be replaced by the dealer. However, locksmiths can often provide replacement keys faster than a dealership, and at a significantly lower cost.
Remote Start
If your key fob comes with the remote start feature it can turn on the engine without needing to hold the keys to your car in hands. This is particularly useful when it's hot outside and you want to cool down your car while doing on errands. But, there are a few things you should know before using this feature.
Certain key fobs have a remote engine start button that can be pressed to start your vehicle remotely (for example, Ford has a circular arrow moving clockwise on its key fob). Mazdas, for instance require you to lock the key first and then press the Start button.
There could be an insufficient or dead battery in your key fob if you're not able to start the car. The key fob's battery isn't powerful enough to send a signal to your car's system.
If this happens, you can either replace the batteries or re-program your key fob. The procedure differs for every car, but the instructions are generally found in the owner's manual. Our mobile technicians are also able to help you with this procedure. We have the specialist tools needed to cut and program the replacement Peugeot key at your home, office or even if you are stuck on the roadside.
Door Locks
The Peugeot 3008 remote allows you to lock or unlock your car by pressing a button on your key fob. Unlike the traditional key that has a physical key hole, this key fob stores an encrypted copy of the car keys inside.
In order to accomplish this, it relies on an exclusive radio signal that is only sent out when the key is within a certain distance of the vehicle. A solenoid inside the door lock converts the electronic signal into mechanical once the signal has been spotted. This is accomplished by moving a rod which opens the door lock as the physical key used to do.
If you notice that a Peugeot key fob isn't locking or unlocking the vehicle, there are many possible reasons for the issue. The most common cause is an unresponsive coin battery which is easily replaced in a matter of minutes. Other reasons include worn buttons, water damage signal interference or a defective electronic chip.
The key fobs of modern vehicles isn't an exception. G28CarKeys require extremely high level precision in order to operate. The key fob might be programmed incorrectly, or it could have a hardware defect that prevents the vehicle from responding to the signal sent by the key. A certified locksmith can reprogram your key fob to make sure it is compatible with the vehicle.
Immobiliser
Peugeot were one of the first car makers to incorporate an immobiliser chip in the key. This prevents the vehicle from starting if it detects an untrue signal being sent from the key to the car. In the beginning, this is great, but as they age the chips can get worn out and start causing problems. This usually begins with a message saying 'anti theft system active on the dashboard or a warning light is lit up stating 'immobiliser fault'.
Typically Peugeot dealerships must be called to create and programme replacement keys. Mobile locksmiths will use dealer-standard equipment in their van. This means they can design new Peugeot keys at your house or on the roadside faster than a dealership.
Generally Peugeot keys start to show problems when the blade wears out. This wear causes the mouth part of the key to stop entering the lock correctly and causing wear on the locks themselves. Sometimes, just swapping out the blade will help resolve the problem. It is also possible to have the teeth on the key cleaned so that they can operate more efficiently. This is something only a competent auto locksmith is able to do but it could help you avoid a lot of frustration and money in the end.
