Prerequisites
You need 3 things, a brain, and hands.. and preferably a laptop / PC for editing. If you don't have one you can still use this guide, but you'll be playing on veteran difficulty.
Websites / Apps:
Photopea
Photopea is probably the best free editor, even better is that it's online so you don't even need to download anything. You'll want to start by making an account at https://www.photopea.com, once there you wanna hit "Open from computer" where you'll be taken to a canvas screen. Here is where you'll edit your image. But we'll have to put that on hold.
Perchance
Perchance is the hypothetical Jelly of you peanut butter and jelly sandwich (I've never eaten one, I'm European) You can't use Photopea without Perchance, It's a FREE, yes, FREE. AI image generator, NO coins, NO bs tokens, etc. Unlike CivitAI you can generate as much as you want, and you also don't even have to sign in. This'll be your way of generating your waifu's or whatever the hell you're trying to make.
NOTE: You read the next section as this, with the relevant text over the image, not below it.

Demonstrations
Perchance
- Perchance is probably the best when it comes to making photos, and It's quite simple, so I won't use images for this one.
https://perchance.org/ai-text-to-image-generator
- The link above takes you to the tool, above is the prompt, you know, the text box. Below it are 2 boxes that say "add style" and "add effect", these are practically useless but simply add an extra sentence to the prompt, for example if I click "Your Name" (Great movie by the way, watch it) it will simply add " Your Name art style" to the prompt.
- Below those 2 boxes we have the ACTUALLY useful ones, that being the Anti-Description, the Art Style, the Picture Shape, and "How many"
And of course the "generate" button, I ain't explaining that.
"Anti Description"
- Self explanatory, the AI will try not to add what is stated in the anti-description, useful if you're sick of seeing AI messing up hands. Just add "hands" to the prompt and it will stop showing up.
"Art Style"
- Also very self explanatory, and if you were seriously expecting me to explain that then get out. Anyway, the art styles I'd recommend are "Soft Anime" and "Waifu", But you can really go with whatever you want.
"Shape"
- 3rd time using "self explanatory" now, It's getting pretty old.. This determines the shape of your image, for JanitorAI I can only recommend the default "Square" shape, aka, don't touch it.
"How Many?"
- I am NOT saying it a 4th time, this of course determines how many images you'll generate at a time. I recommend 6, it tends to be the most effective for me.
Extra Tips:
- When an image is generated and you don't want it, there's a little refresh button on it's bottom left when you hover over it, hit it and the image will be atomized and a new image will start generating.
- Add well known online artist names to make the images less "AI", you what I mean right? That typical AI art style, I hate it.. And you probably do too, the AI almost definitely not create art that looks like that artist so don't worry about copying. It just helps give it a nicer look and helps prevenent that generic, sloppy art style.
- Prompts I like: simple art style, full body in view, smugly smiling
Photopea
- Time to move on to the actual editing, on the main Photopea screen, hit the "File" button on the top left, then open the image you've just edited.
- I'll be using this image I used in a previous bot, so why don't I demonstrate what I do?
- This is our main canvas screen, where you will be doing all those funky ahh edits
AI Touch Up Tool
- So I'll start with the one is use first which WOULD'VE been Microsoft Photos until I find out Photopea has a better version of the ai remove tool.
- All you want to do is either hit 'J' on your keyboard or click the sparkly plaster icon on the left bar, then make sure you have the right layer selected in the right panel and scrub away!
Adjustments
- This is if you want to make it more vibrant (saturation), darker / brighter (Black and White*), Photo filter, etc
-
- Great games, but the sequels are better
- To access these go to the top bar- Image- Adjustments, and then pick whatever you need, I added some saturation
How To Add A White Border
- You may notice in some of my bots that the characters have a white outline, that's known as a Stroke, This part will guide you on how to make that.
- Start by right clicking "Background" and clicking "Duplicate Layer"
- You should now be left with "Background" and "Layer 1":
- From here click 'W' on your keyboard or the magic wand icon on the left side bar to bring up the "magic wand" screen.
- Make sure "Layer 1" is selected and click "Select Subject", you have to watch an ad for it, but that's the price of free (see what I did there?)
- Your character should now be outlined, now click the "Add Raster Mask Icon" (The one with big, obvious red arrow pointing at it)
- From here right click "Layer 1" again, and in the list click "Blending Options" at the top
- In the new menu, click "Stroke"
- From here you can choose how thick you want to outline to be, I recommend 3 pixels. As well as what color the border should be, I always use white. But it's up to you.
- When you're done just hit "OK", and tada! White outline!
- Then hit CTRL+S or click "file" in the top left then "Save" to save the image!
Fancy Fonts / Good Word Placement
- So you've finally made it here, I hope ya didn't spend too long on the first Photopea part. Anyway it's time to move on to fonts and fancy word placement.
- To start click the "Tt" icon on the right. This'll bring up the font menu where you can adjust the font size, color, font, etc. I only use the size settings, the color setting, and the font chooser.
- So these are my settings that I'll be using, let's go
- Start by clicking 'T' on your keyboard to bring up the text menu, then just click to start typing. If you're making a character name I advise to write the letters separately. So I won't be focusing on sentences for this part.
- When typing your letters hit the 'tick' icon on the top bar to confirm then click the image again to start typing again if need be.
- As you can see here I wrote the name very sloppily and the words are behind the character. And for some people the words might not be visible, I'll explain what to do about that.
- Hold shift and click the letters (Or if it's a text box ignore that), and then drag them to the top. If you want the letters to be behind the character then put it between Layer 1 and Background.
- Now for the centring, you can put the letters horizontally or vertically, whatever you want. I'll be using black letters for this but you can use whatever color you want in that menu I told you about a minute ago. Press 'H' on your keyboard to whip out the 'Hand' tool, which lets you move around.
- Hit 'V' on your keyboard to bring up the "Move" tool, on the top bar you can align the letters automatically for vertical alignment use 'Align left edges' and 'Align right edges', for horizontally use 'Align bottom edges' and 'Align top edges'.
- Once that's done, turn on the 'Distances' option on the top bar. Don't forget to shift click your letters in the side panel to move them all at once!
- So they way I space my letters is by checking how many pixels they're spaced apart by I prefer to have mine spaced out by 70, 50 or 30 pixels depending on how long the name is.
- I moved my letters to let you guys see it better, as you can see the distances tool is on, but the letters aren't spaced properly, let's fix that. Make sure you DON'T have all the letters selected and only one at a time!
- And there we go, I spaced out the letters evenly, now time to put them in a nice spot, so I'll turn off my distances tool because I don't need it now. And again, make sure ALL the letters are selected now.
- So here is my result, and I want to put it behind the character. But I think the font is too small, so let's adjust it.
- I'm going to go back into the text menu ('Tt' if you forgot), and adjust the size where it says... 'Size'.. I'll change it from 110 px to 150 px
- Now the text is bigger.. but now the spacing looks worse, so I'll do the spacing process again.
- And Tada! That's the it done, hit CTRL + S and you'll save the image!
