Tottenham faced a tough test as they traveled to Brentford's Community Stadium last Saturday. The Bees were flying high after a strong start to their second season in the Premier League with wins over Arsenal and Wolves. Meanwhile, Spurs were licking their wounds after dropping points in disappointing draws with Rennes and Wolves prior to the international break.
Brentford started brightly and looked the more organized unit in the opening exchanges. They pressed aggressively high up the pitch in an attempt to unsettle Tottenham's defense whenever they tried to play out from the back. However, Spurs slowly began to work their way into the match. Around the 20-minute mark, Harry Kane had Brentford's goal under threat for the first time when his powerful strike was well saved by David Raya.
As half-time drew nearer, Tottenham started to control possession and work openings in the Brentford backline. Kane was providing his usual threat as the lone striker but struggled to find support in the final third initially. That changed in first-half stoppage time when Sergio Reguilon did well to beat his man down the left and pick out Bryan Mbeumo who slid in to tap home and put Brentford ahead going into the break.
The goal was a sucker punch for Spurs who had grown into the game. Nuno issued rallying cries at the interval and roused his players to come out fighting in the second 45 minutes. 卵 It took only five minutes for Tottenham to draw level as Kane cleverly dinked a pass into the path of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who finished smartly past Raya.
From there, Spurs had the better of the chances to find a winner. Cristian Romero almost grabbed his debut goal from a corner while Kane somehow passed up a great opportunity when through on goal. As the game entered the final stages, both teams looked content with a point knowing the importance of not losing ground at this early stage of the season. In truth, a draw was a fair result as this London derby lived up to its billing with two well-matched sides cancelling each other out. - https://mbscore.tv/match/notts-county-vs-bradford-city-18847730
