If you need encompass sound you'll have to activate 'Dolby plus', and this is a setting hidden away on the tools menu (navigate to it at the highest right of the amazon house page. The menu button on the distant is for Flixy Brand choosing things like subtitles whereas taking part in. My solely problem is a very loud clunk by way of the speakers once i pause and unpause while taking part in a film with Dolby surround sound. That is with my own settup which uses and OPPO BDP-103 as surround decoder, and have had related issues when pausing my Humax field into this, so I believe that the problem could not arise on different encompass decoders/AV amps. A useful characteristic on the remote is the power to step ahead or again 10 secs by a single press on the fast-wind buttons on Amazon programmes (a bit 10s icon appears as you do this), while urgent and holding units quick wind going.

It's a pity this gadget wants a power supply plugged into it, however I assume that's the worth of getting such a powerful processor in it (it takes 1A 5V). There is no such thing as a OFF button on the remote, so I questioned how to depart it. Just altering to a different input on the Tv or AV unit appears to stop it (essential as otherwise it is going to use up your broadband knowledge allowance with out you realizing!) Note that whenever you then select the unit once more nothing appears till you press the main button, Flixy Smart Stick after which the image seems in a number of seconds. I used to be dissatisfied to search out that there was no surround sound on 'Jooles Later' from BBC i-player, a programme I do know was broadcast with surround. From Googling it would appear that there is no encompass on i-participant (shame on you BBC). Amazon material works nicely with encompass, but I have never tried different apps.

The sound degree from Fire Stick seems to be around 10dB increased than on different sources, and I don't perceive how this may be, given that the sound is digital and can't really go louder than every other source over HDMI suggesting worryingly that it is dynamic range has been compressed at supply (in the standard 'loudness struggle') or that it might clip on loud moments (though neither is obvious to me). Having to show the level down is a bit annoying. Picture quality from Fire Flixy Smart Stick, seen on a sixty five inch 4k Tv by way of an OPPO BDP-103 with wonderful 4k upscaling is excellent, and I feel generally better when it comes to sharpness and movement artifacts than Freesat broadcasts, which is surprising but pleasing. The Fire TV stick is of course a great way to give your outdated Tv a brand new lease of life, for use in another room perhaps, and, considerably, with out the necessity for any aerial.
