Raid Farm Designs

Notes

  • In Minecraft 1.18 some raid mechanics were slightly changed, which affect most stacking raid farms designed for versions up through 1.17.x. Ianxofour's farm was designed specifically for 1.18 but some pre-1.18 farms have patches / fixes available through technical minecraft discord servers. Ian's video has a great segment about game mechanics of raids which are the same as they have been in 1.17. From my understanding, the change in 1.18 was a small change to 1 or 2 lines of code that change how quickly bannermen are recruited into raids (there is now 1gt additional delay), which is only important for the tick-level timings important for these farms and doesn't affect the broader mechanics of villages / workstations / raid shifting.
  • More details on changes (from TMA discord and from Ianxofour's discord ):

The "Simplest" designs

Ianxofour: Practical Stacking Raid Farm

  • Easiest design

Rates

  • Total: 128k/hr
  • 56k emeralds
  • 43k (total) witch drops
  • 5300 redstone / hr
  • 5300 gunpowder / hr

In general in the witch loot table they have 12.5% chance to drop redstone, likewise for gunpowder & glowstone.

  • I believe this design was used in the Scicraft 4x4 chunk challenge where they built this farm in the End, although I don't think the 4x4 challenge was done in 1.18, and I'm not sure if the 1.18-compatible version (or the build from the 4x4 series) differ from the world download in the description.

Here's a link to Ilmango's video (Feb 2022) where they run it.

Rates:

  • 60k emeralds / hr

Chronos

  • Super clean design, really neat wiring. I built this design in a 1.17 survival world and am happy with it. There is a 1.18 fix available but no official youtube video about it yet (update: possibly coming soon?). I made an extension to the drop chute that can toggle a platform to stop mobs falling + opens a door to the side where I can siphon out mobs until I get a bannerman, then I stored bannermen in minecarts in a conga line for future use.
  • Relatively easy to build
  • Requires 10 wither skulls for hitbox magic, can probably be replaced by player heads
  • no vex suppressors or headless pistons
  • Its highly recommended to use carpet /player <name> attack interval <xx> to get the attack timing right.

Rates (1.17 version):

  • 353k total items / hr
  • 186k emeralds / hr
  • 106k witch drops / hr (so 13.5k redstone)
  • Rates are 10-20% less using the 1.18 fix Actually I'm not super clear on how fast the "fixed" version is.

Changes for 1.18

  • There's been 1 fix version out for a while now, available on TMA discord. The discord post says rates are 80-90% of original (which is still very good) however reading through some older messages in the Chronos discord I'm not sure the numbers are totally accurate.
  • They are apparently planning to release an official 1.18 fix soon, possibly within a week or so
  • Technical Minecraft Archive Discord: https://discord.gg/Bh7Kasf
  • Fix for chronos farm 1.18 (from Technical Minecraft Archive): https://discord.com/channels/594920796867133446/594921997150978058/925965190875447296
  • For 1.18 instructions change to "attack every 20gt" instead of 11gt in 1.17.
  • Chronos discord: https://discord.gg/VvPucVAjUS
  • Tips:
    • When I first built this farm I accidentally used a nitwit villager which obviously didn't work
    • Sword must have sweeping edge 3 / sharpness 5, must not have fire aspect or knockback
