The Ibiza is now equipped with the latest generation of driver assistance. Travel Assist makes sure your vehicle keeps up with traffic flow while Lane Assist takes the worry out of changing lanes.

Remove the key fob's battery compartment cover (A). By using a thumb nail or flat-head screwdriver to pull upwards on the cover. Replace the CR2025 battery.

Dead Coin Battery

If your key fob isn't working and you are unable to reprogram it the most likely reason is a dead battery. Replace replacement seat key and you'll be able to bring it back to life in no time - you can do it yourself in under 10 minutes.

Open the key first from the side without the rings made of metal. You can then open the clip-on cover using your nail. The old battery can be pulled out through the hole in the middle. Note: If you change the battery improperly or with a battery not suitable, it may cause damage to the remote. Replace the battery using the same size, voltage and specification as the original.

If your key fob was submerged in water, you may also need to clean the chip prior to replacing the battery. This is especially important when you drop it in the ocean or in soapy washing water. It is essential to take care of this immediately, as water can cause damage to the electronic chip of your key fob.

Worn Buttons

The most frequent reason that a Seat Ibiza replacement key fails to function is due to the battery in the key being dead. It's a simple fix that will take only some minutes. The key fob may cease to function if the buttons are worn. This is a simple fix, and requires you to swap out the old key shell for an entirely new one.

It's important to note that the button cell battery should be replaced properly or damage could be caused to the key fob. It's recommended to always make sure you use a new battery that has the same size, voltage, and specifications. It's also important that the polarity of the new battery is directed upwards.

The key fob is secured by rubber seals, which should keep water out. Submerging the keyfob in water could cause the seals on the keyfobs to break, which could damage the chip's electronic components. This is usually the case when the key fob is left in the rain or accidentally falls into the pool. If the key fob won't function after replacing or reprogramming it or replacing the receiver module, it could be in trouble.

Water Damage

The key fob's rubber seals to stop water getting to the chip inside. This doesn't stop occasional splash. If your pet survived a wash cycle, or a swim in the ocean it may have damaged the chip.

You can fix this issue by taking off the battery and cleaning the chip with isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner. Then, let it dry completely before putting it back. If the chip is fried and needs to be replaced, replace it with a brand new chip.

If your key fob doesn't work after changing the battery or reprogramming, there could be a problem with the receiver module. This is the part of the car that receives the signals from the keyfob and transmits the signals to the key ignition system. You can test it by trying the spare key fob if have one. This should make the ignition system light turn on and the central locking activate. If this does not happen and the receiver is not working, then it could be defective. This is a pricey fix, but it can be done by a professional at your local garage.

Radio Interference

If your car's stereo seems to be acting out of order or the key fob no longer working it could be caused by an interference issue with the receiver module that is in the key. It can be fixed by replacing the key with an entirely new receiver module from Seat parts.

To replace the battery, simply flip off the key piece and using your thumb nail or screwdriver with a flat-headed head, gently push upwards the key fob battery compartment cover. Remove the CR2025 that was in place and replace it with a brand new battery, ensuring that the polarity is correct. You can also use a standard key that has the transponder chip which was transferred from the worn or damaged key. It can be coded and cut to fit your car and, if required.

Faulty Receiver Module

The receiver module is the part inside the key fob which transmits the radio signals to the car. The module could be in trouble if the fob stops functioning. This can be determined with an OBDII scan tool or by contact with the dealer.

Other devices that utilize the same frequency may interfere with the remote keyless entry system. This could include mobile phones, electrical devices, and even household appliances.

If the key fob is in contact with clean tap water, it may be possible to clean the chip with paper towels and isopropyl alcohol. If the fob's key is submerged in soapy or salt water, or is sat on a wet floor for prolonged periods, this is likely to cause damage and will likely require replacement.

To replace the battery in your key fob you will need a thumb nail or a small screwdriver that has a flat head to break open the cover of the button cell battery compartment (B). Remove the battery that was in there and replace it with an CR2025 replacement battery, making sure the "+" polarity is directed upwards.
