Rio Bond episode 1
Rio: Sensei, are you present?
Sensei: Rio!?
Rio:Yes, it’s me. On another note, aren’t you a little surprised?
Sensei: Certainly didn’t expect to hear from you.
Rio: I should inform you in advance that I am using a secondary device for communication, so there’s no need to trouble yourself with registering contact details.
Sensei: Is your situation that serious?
R: Potentially. We could be tracked by others.
S: It’ll be trouble for communication companies too y’know…
R: ….I didn’t see it that way. But I still think this is for the best.
S: so what happened?
R: I went to the supermarket to buy lunch, but it’s temporarily closed… could you come over for a bit?
I went to the designated meeting point Rio sent.
Even if it was for safety reasons, the detour was quite long.
R: Did I keep you waiting?
R: Nevermind, we arrived as predicted. As expected from choosing a logical route.
S: just a question…
R: Have I been eating normal meals? I’ve been economically logical and only bought discounted bentos and frozen meals.
R:They’re half price at the supermarket, and the taste is excellent.
R:In particular, the fired chicken bento and the fried chicken don bowls are especially scrumptious.
R: But today’s a holiday… there’s usually high competition for such meals, but it’s inevitable given their high quality. Plus, frozen foods have long shelf lives and can be stored in large quantities.
R: As expected, a most logical choice of food.
S: You’ll ruin your health if you eat that way…/You could get more nutrition from delivery foods…
R: Delivery is out of the question. It’s illogical to risk the delivery person remembering your face or your location being tracked.
R: While you do get free gifts and discounts if you give a review… such reviews can be logged and increases risk of detection.
R: So I ruled it out from the beginning
R: I calculate that I’ll never find myself in a dilemma like this. It truly is a rational solution.
S: A hospital visit seems urgent…
R: Bentos and frozen meals tend to be high in fat and fried…
R: I know I need to take vitamins and fibre, but the former can be compensated with supplements. The latter… is not a problem at all.(confident smile)
S: There’s a big problem.
R: A lack of fibre is not as severe as a lack of vitamins, which can already be provided with by supplements.
R: But the truth is… cooking is not my specialty.
R: Perhaps inventing an Avant-Garde robot with cooking capabilities is a viable solution?
R: It would be…
S: Be…
R: Quite difficult.
S: It’s alright! We’ll go to the supermarket together
R: That’s an illogical decision. The supermarket only has small discounts today.
S: I’ll be serving you today, so don’t worry.
I held Rio’s hand and walked to the supermarket.
R: Sensei, what vegetable is that? It has a fractal structure(A fractal is a shape with never ending patterns in it.) I wonder if it’s Hausdorff dimension(a mathematical measure of roughness) is 2.7?
R: A cauliflower you say? Such a strange shape… it even tastes like potato when boiled.
R: Carrots, onions and tomatoes… even I can recognise those vegetables- wait, aren’t you buying too much meat?
S: I’m actually not an expert on cooking, so I’m using the internet to help.
S: I’ve bought all the ingredients for dinner.
R: I see, so the dish is focused on protein and vitamins, which lowers carbohydrate levels.
R: So, what next?
S: I cook you some food in Schale.
R: I never calculated that you’d be a good cook… ah, you copy recipes on the internet? Better than cooking with no guidance at all, certainly.
R: But is such a simple method really ok?
S: I’ll worry my students if I don’t eat properly myself…
After another detour back to Schale…
S: Rio. You rest here, I’ll make it.
R: V-very well.
R: Stew… I wonder if even I could make it?
R: Thank you, I’ll eat it right away.
Eat the stew in silence
R: It’s somewhat…
S: Somewhat…
R: It’s not bad, but neither is it uniquely tasteful either.
S: As expected….
R: But I wonder why… my heart feels much warmer from it.
Momotalk
R: Are you still awake?
S: What happened?
R: I completed the avant garde cooking machine.
S: Does it work?
R: Perfectly, but unlike your cooking… it’s taste has nothing unique to it.
S: I can cook the stew again, so make sure you eat properly until then.
R: Thank you. One bento every two days perhaps?
S: Three days or more would be preferable.
R: Alright.
