STAR RUSH GP SUPER EARLY VERSION

Incomplete Rider section (Origin, Style, a few skills)

Where the best come to shine and crush the opposition — Welcome to Star Rush GP!

In the far future, or perhaps a long-forgotten past, humanity and several alien races struggled over control of the universe. Until one fateful day, where the mysterious Ringmaster, an entity beyond time and space, created the Star Rush Grand Prix! A series of races and arena battles designed to sate his love for all things that go vroom. There’s no actual tournament structure, and Contests seem to be organised almost at random as per the Ringmaster’s will, but rumors speak of the possibility that a Rider with enough prestige, passion, and wins under their belt, may ask for a wish from the Ringmaster himself!

Suffice to say, all belligerents entered a cold war — or rather, an arms race — to send their best and brightest Riders, and build their best Crafts, to have the highest chances of winning! Contests can include up to hundreds of hopeful Riders, but only one can win at a time.

And that brings us to YOU! Yes, you! You’re a new Rider, I can smell that fresh, minty hope all over you. Why don’t we try to find you a place in this vast universe?

RIDER SECTION

ORIGIN

Gaia Coalition

You are a human, making your home in one of the thousands of terraformed human planets that the Gaia Coalition includes in its borders. The greatest of which is the capital, Gaia. Human planets can be great hubs for technology and advancement, or horrific slums and hive worlds. Humans are highly tenacious creatures with incredible technology, but they lack a connection to the mystical forces of the cosmos. However, humans can also be augmented, mutated or genetically engineered. Humans tend to be very aggressive towards non-humans, but there are exceptions.

El’ Drin Empire

You are an El’Drin, a humanoid creature with sharp features, namely your otherworldly physique and long, pointy ears. The El’Drin were once related to humanity, and they split off thousands of years ago. They are decadent and elitist, and their society seems to resemble ancient humanity the most. Their most notable members are their nobility, and the “copperbloods” are mostly enslaved or otherwise oppressed. Despite their animosity with humanity, El’Drin have been known to collaborate with humans and other races before. Their technology is outdated, but they seem to be more in tune with mysticism. Their capital planet is Tran’tor.

Lil’ Guys

You are a lil’ guy! What does that mean? You are one of many non-descript alien races from the planet Stario, which is coincidentally shaped like a star, but it’s a planet anyway. Lil’ guys are usually small, cute and cuddly beings, with a love for food, racing, and battling! They are also very strong in the mystical aspects of the universe, but they can often be dim-witted when it comes to tech. Lil’ guys are usually sunshine and rainbows, but they can also be adorably psychopathic, so watch out!

The Krog

You are a member of the Krog, a coalition of many different alien races known for their brutality and their desire to pillage and subjugate others. Space pirates, smugglers, Quasar Syndicate affiliates and criminals of all kinds take refuge amongst them. The Krog include so many different beings under their banner that infighting is commonplace, but you’ll still have to answer to their authority if they’ve taken you in. They have hideouts all over the universe, with no “main” base.

Open Space

The Gaia Coalition, El’Drin Empire or Planet Stario aren’t the only places where you’ll find mostly peaceful civilisations. Races from all over the universe congregate in independent planets known as “open space”, away from the frontiers of any particular interstellar nation. Many humans, for example, defect from the Gaia Coalition to join open space, finding far more liberal, easygoing lifestyles in company with other races. However, the Gaia Coalition and El’Drin Empire still have animosity with open space, resenting any citizens they may lose to it.

STYLE

What makes you stand out from other Riders? Are you calm and collected, or are you a road warrior? Do you go wild on the track, or take only calculated risks? Here’s where you start forging your legend!

All-Rounder

You know the basics. You have everything under control, every discipline that a Rider could need is one you’ve learned well. You are a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Daredevil

Screw the safety belt! You love taking big risks and going for those dicey maneuvers. You’re all about glitz and glamour, and you’ll throw caution to the wind if it means getting a big win — or winning in a very flashy way.

Technician

You have studied all the variables of the Contest and have analysed every possible scenario. You know your Craft, you know your own limits, and you know what the others are up to. Information is your battlefield, and planning is your strong suit.

Brute

Why even look at the road? You’re all about taking out the competition in the most straightforward way possible. Ram your Craft into others, dump all your weapons into the guy that’s right in front of you. Take no prisoners on the way to the finish line!

Free-Flier

Far from excelling in research, brutality or technical ability, there’s a je-ne-sais-quoi about you. You have intuition: you ride into the unknown and let your faith and your willpower carry you forward. When you believe in yourself, you’ll find the path ahead when it counts.

SKILLS

Further setting you apart, choose the skills that will help you succeed in Contests!

Handling

Smooth Turning: You’ve got great reflexes, allowing you to go from a straight to a curve faster than most.

Opportunist: You know just when to pass by someone on a straight and take their spot, or when to hit the pedal on a curve. You still have to keep that momentum, though.

Work With What You Have: Big or small, you can drive almost any Craft. You won’t find yourself restricted by your vehicle in most situations, and you’ll find creative ways to get ahead.

Spin Master: In arenas, you can spin better than anyone! Use that circular battlefield to your advantage and stay on the move.

Dodge! :You can counter battering rams by swerving out of the way of an opponent just at the right time. This may put them ahead of you in a race, but it could save your ass. Or you could make them crash.

Technical

Strategic Thinking: You know how to plan ahead. Your strategies can take you from last place to 1st as long as you can execute your plans properly.

Master Plan (requires Strategic Thinking): Your strategies aren’t just run-of-the-mill mind work. You’re a genius of the trade, and you can achieve huge turnarounds at critical moments.

Knowing Is Half The Battle: You’ve done extensive research on your opponents, depending on how widely available that information is.

Weapons Expert: You know all about how your weapons and those of your enemy work, to an obsessive degree. You can get much more mileage out of your weapons than most.

Jury-Rig: You can quickly perform small repairs on-the-go on your Craft, if it’s ever damaged during a Contest. Just try not to get lasered while you work.

Engineer: You solve problems. You can find new ways to get mileage out of your Craft than most, maximising the output of your engine or reducing fuel usage with enough downtime to bring out the best of your Craft.

Combat

Sharpshooter: You have great aim when it comes to using hand-held weapons, or your Craft’s weapons systems. You’re unlikely to miss a shot, at least from a close distance.

Smart Smashing: You know just how to use your Craft’s size and weight to cause great damage to an enemy Craft while compromising the integrity of yours as least as possible in a collision.

Dark Side Of The Moon: Unbeknownst to your opponents, you have a crazy fear factor on the track. You may find yourself cornering your opponents with your sheer intimidation factor alone.

Tyrant On Wheels (requires DSOTM): Your aura is amplified. You may lose out on surprise factor, but whether it’s a race or an arena, no one wants to be on the other end of your assault.

Melee Fighter: You’re more dangerous off your Craft than on it. Your opponents should think twice about attempting a double crash, since you’ll come back with a vengeance. If you ride a hovercraft, or another Craft that doesn’t fully encase your body, you can fight at close quarters competently with handheld weapons.

Duelist: You don’t care about the rabble. You’re in it to get rid of one specific person — and while they’re in your sights, you’re unstoppable. You can choose one special target per Contest.

Other

Comeback Master: Somehow, you’re likely to start a Contest on a bad spot. But if you play your cards right, you have insane comeback potential. Lady Luck is on your side.

Bluff: You don’t just have bravado, you have calculated bravado. You’ve got the asteroids to stand up to the meanest SOB on the track or the arena, to the point where others may back down from targeting you. But can you back that up, if your bluff gets called?
