Valentine's Day, he’d been looking forward to it all week. This was going to be Anon’s first Valentine’s Day together with Ceroba, but there was a problem at hand. Somehow, he forgot to charge his phone, and once again, he’s the last one out of bed. With a sigh, he groggily sat up, staring blankly for a moment at the light filtering in through the curtains. He smiled as he reached under the bed. He may have screwed up ‘breakfast in bed’, but it wasn’t going to be a wonderful day if that was all he had in mind! Anon’s smile faded as he got up to look under the bed.
The flowers.
Where are the flowers?

Anon had crawled halfway under the bed in disbelief that he could have forgotten something this important, when he heard Ceroba calling to him from across the house, “Honey! Could you come here for a moment?”

He dragged himself back out from under the bed and regained his composure the best he could. Today was still going to be magical, he just needed to do something, anything right. He yelled across the house that he’d be right there as he psyched himself up, pumping his fists in front of him. He’d walk right in there, give her a kiss that would sweep her right off her feet! Or so he thought. As he checked each room in the house, he baffled until finally, he checked the kitchen. The back window was open, and on the windowsill was the box of heart chocolates he had gotten for her. His heart sank as he crossed the kitchen. Did he really leave them out in plain sight?

Picking up the box, he found it completely empty. Anon hung his head defeatedly as now, plan C went up in smoke. That distant hope, the dream of Ceroba hand-feeding him chocolate, was quickly vanishing in his heart. Anon’s sulking was interrupted by a soft laughter out the window drawing his attention. Curiously, he leaned outside, where he was suddenly ambushed as Ceroba grabbed his face from below the window and pulled him in for a kiss, before grabbing the heart box out of his hands and vanishing around the corner of the house, shooting him a sly grin before she vanished.

Anon was dumbstruck for a moment before muttering to himself, “That sly fox.” He quickly rushed to the back door and swung it open to give chase. Whatever mischief she was up to, he’d be the one to make her swoon! As he swung the door open, he darted outside, immediately being caught by a bucket rigged to tilt over, pouring a dazzling storm of rose petals on him. From the midst of the roses, he spotted a card fluttering to the ground. Plucking it off the ground, he opened it, revealing his wife’s romantic audacity. ‘Catch me if you can, loverboy!”

He ran around the house, looking for any sign, but as he passed the front door, he heard the sound of locks clicking. He’d been had again, he bolted back towards the backyard just in time to see her scarlet eyes as she closed the door locking the door. His eyes darted to the window, but of course, she had already closed that as well. He was out of sorts, his disappointment at failing to make Valentines day memorable, now replaced with a flurry of emotion as he processed her tricks. Was this some kind of Kitsune tradition?

He walked around the house thinking up a solution when he spotted the bedroom window open. He smirked as he started climbing in, before realizing as he set foot in the room, that this window wasn’t open earlier. He looked around, scanning the room for signs of her next trick. Whatever she had planned, he’d be ready for it. He crept through the room, checking behind the dresser, under the bed, and in the closet. Nothing. He scratched his head as he stepped back into the hallway, scanning the rest of the house. He wanted to say with confidence that he was going to turn the tables on her and make her blush, but he had to find her first.

As he snuck through the house, the bedroom door suddenly slammed shut. Anon rushed back to the door with a dumb grin on his face, he’d show her just how much of a ‘loverboy’ he was. He swung the door open and was immediately flustered by the sight before him.

Ceroba was lying across the bed with her robe undone, loosely draped across her body, tracing the outline of her features. She held the now full box of chocolates in one hand, while beckoning with the other, her red eyes almost glowing in the dim light of the room as she fluttered her lashes at Anon.

Anon shuffled towards the bed, his overconfident grin replaced by the look of a fool in love. He set down the card as he sat on the bed next to her, taking her outstretched hand in his before falling into one last trap.

Ceroba pulled Anon back, practically throwing him onto the bed as she pinned him beneath her, making Anon gasp. As Ceroba straddled him, she slowly ground her hips into his as she plucked a chocolate from the box and placed it into Anon’s mouth. She then took Anon’s hands in hers and firmly pushed them into the mattress above his head. She leaned close enough so that Anon could feel her breath on his face as she spoke with almost fevered passion, “Happy Valentine's Day, loverboy.”

Maybe getting tricked by a fox wasn’t so bad.
