Another frequent issue is paper feed failures. These can happen due to using paper that is too thick, or stored in unsuitable humidity. Always use paper that is recommended by the press manufacturer and keep it in a temperature- and humidity-regulated environment to avoid warping. When preparing media, check for curl or static and fan the stack gently to prevent double feeds. If jams recur, inspect the paper path for debris and install new rollers or guides.

Faint duplicates or repeated faint patterns on the print can be caused by a dirty or worn transfer belt. Maintain the imaging unit according to the service manual using only approved cleaning solutions. If cleaning does not resolve the issue, the transfer unit requires servicing. Also check that the fuser temperature is set correctly as erratic thermal output can cause ink to fail to fuse, leading to incomplete images.

If the press is producing vertical bands across the page, the problem may be with the toner supply unit. Agitate the toner container to rebalance the toner particles, or replace it if it is low or expired. Also inspect the developer unit and toner scraper for debris accumulation. In some cases, a dirty corona wire can cause uneven charging, leading to banding, so use a specialized corona cleaning tool if exposed.

With dedicated maintenance, digital presses can remain operational for a decade or more.
