the (you) soul being unwilling to control Racters body after seeing what the other soul made him do
until it becomes clear that Racter isn't even willing to take care of himself right now after what "he" did.
(you) drag Racter through his days, keeping him alive. At first you can feel his resentment, reminding you that while you aren't as bad as the other soul was, you too, robbed him of his choices. (you) try to give him back control repeatedly but at first he simply does nothing, forcing you to continue piloting him, keeping him from falling apart completely.
slowly, the echoes of his will from within the shared soul change. Resentment turns to acceptance, and then to begrudging appreciation, until eventually in those times you hand him back control he does something with it. At first it's little, choosing what he'll eat, where he'll go, before falling into the background again.
then one day you can't feel any disdain for you as a new feeling takes hold. You step back, allowing him to do this on his own, as he takes the dust from one of his friends he was forced to kill
and yet, the moment is like a brick wall. he's not strong enough to push through, to truly say goodbye and accept that they're gone.
he... trusts you for a moment. Little staggered steps as you each share control, he guides the way, while you provide the willpower to help him see it through, as you take him towards the favorite place of his best friend.
He can't bring himself to do it, to pour the dust, to truly bid farewell, but this you will not do, you can not grieve for him.
It feels like it takes ages, but eventually the dust rains over the chosen place of his own will, as Racter doubles over mourning his loss.
