Qipao Tomoe Bond story 3
T: Sensei.
T: Are you busy right now?
S: Free as a bird, did you need something?
T: If you don't mind, I'd like to have lunch with you.
T: If you're alright with it of course.
S: Well, I do know some good Chinese restaurants!
S: Well, hopefully ones you haven't heard of.
T: I have done my research before coming here.
T: But if you could introduce me to some
T: I'd be happy to oblige.
S: I'm a little worried if I can meet your standards or not...
T: I assure you.
T: I won't mind.
T: You'll be with me, after all.
T: To recommend me a restaurant and even treat me to a meal...
T: It feels like I'm always in some sort of debt to you.
S: You don't have to worry about it./I know a lot about Shanhaijing after all!
T: In that case, I shall take you up on your offer.
T: Thank you, Sensei.
T: Excuse me, may I have a menu?
Manager: ...Ah, of course. Here you go.
T: ...?
T: (...There's something strange happening.)
T: (His voice sounds weak, and he's pale...)
T: (Now that I think about it, it's lunchtime, but there's hardly any customers.)
S: Tomoe? Have you decided what to order?
T: Ah yes, they all look delicious, so it's a bit hard to choose.

S: Phew, can't eat another bite.
T: Fufu.
T: You look full.
T: I ate a bit too much as well.
S: Excuse me, can I have the bill?
Manager: Of course. How was the meal?
T: It's been on my mind for a while now...
T: But is everything alright? You seem rather unsettled.
Manager: Oh, oh no, there's nothing to worry about, my apologies for the trouble. If you enjoyed your time, that's good enough.
T: If you wouldn't mind, may I hear your worries?
Manager: well...
Manager: As of late, our customers have decreased drastically.
T: Would you perhaps know why?
Manager: ...Yes, it's because of the nonsense they broadcast on TV. You can see the show I'm talking about right now.
Health Channel Host: This is the health channel's corner! Did you all know?
Health Channel Host: Have any of you felt a bit heavy after eating? Like your heart's on fire?
Health Channel Host: We certainly have, and we went to find out why!
Health Channel Host: And... surprisingly, Chinese food was the culprit!
Health Channel Host: This is because Chinese foods contain lard, salt and a lot of spices.
Health Channel Host: This is just a theory, but if you eat too much Chinese food, fat accumulates in your blood vessels, which may lead to muscle pain and fatigue!
Health Channel Host: Furthermore, families and even society may colla-

TV turns off

Manager: My apologies.
Manager: I can't bear to watch it anymore...
Manager: It's been trendy of late to say Chinese food is bad for one's health.
T: I see, that explains your difficulties. The people coming to this store was noticeably small.
S: Let's check how the rest of the city is doing.
T: As expected, it's almost empty.
T: It should be busier during lunchtime.
T: ...
T: I've decided, Sensei.
S: Decided on what?
T: I was resolved to being passive in regards to issues in other academies, but...
T: As I've been treated to Chinese cuisine so many times...
T: I cannot possibly overlook this.
T: Yes...
T: First, let us head to the square.
S: Well, we're in the square./But what's the plan?
T: Well, you see...
T: It shall be a public speech!
S: A public speech...!?
T: Indeed, if I tell the [Truth] to everyone...
T: The negative image of Chinese food will surely change.
T: Now then, let us start right away!

(Tomoe began her speech in the middle of the square)

T: To the students of Shanhaijing, it is a wonderful afternoon isn't it? Have you all had a fulfilling lunch?
T: Today, I am here with a dire truth to tell.
T: As of late, there has a been rumor spreading around the school, saying that Chinese food is bad for your health.
T: They say it makes one feel sick, that you may start feeling your heart beat faster.
T: Are you all alright with such slander? Such statements are clearly hoaxes!
Shanhaijing Student A: But isn't lard objectively bad for you?
Shanhaijing Student B: I've also heard that it can accelerate arteriosclerosis...
T: Certainly, I can understand your worries, but please listen!
T: First, lard is actually a great source of vitamins and minerals! What's more, it contains unsaturated fatty acids not found in beef or lamb, which can keep you healthy!
T: Despite only possessing 1/3rd of the cholesterol found in butter, it serves many purposes in cooking!
T: Mooncakes are well known here, are they not? In our own school in Red Winter, we eat salted lard sandwiches, which helps us against the cold!
T: Please think rationally. Have any of you truly suffered issues due to consuming lard?

(Tomoe gave a thorough explanation about why lard isn't bad for you.)

T: The current bad reputation of chinese food is a rumor caused by a television show!
T: What do you believe? That the show was trying to warn us about Chinese food, or a malicious source trying to exploit your emotions for profit?
Shanhaijing Student A: To think Chinese food had so many benefits...
Shanhaijing Student B: We've been tricked...
Shanhaijing Student A: Actually, haven't we been eating Chinese food for a while now?
Shanhaijing Student B: That's true! Something should have happened by now!
Shanhaijing Student A: Now that you mention it, I haven't had some in a while.
Shanhaijing Student B: Let's get some!
S: O-oh wow!/Everyone's rushing to the restaurants in droves.
T: It seems I have yet to lose my touch.
S: It did seem like you pivoted it towards promoting Chinese food halfway through though...
T: Fufu.
T: To drown out lies with even more elaborate lies is propaganda 101.

Since then, nearby Chinese restaurants achieved record profits.
The word spread even futher, and there ended up being a small Chinese food craze all over Kivotos.
