Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's custom coachbuilding unit, has designed a unique keycase to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bentley brand. Made from Dark Stained Burr Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying 'B' paperweight, a set of keys, and a brochure with never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

This is a great method to welcome a brand new car owner.

Aesthetics

As a design-driven company, Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting and the use of leather made from leftovers from cattle and sustainable-managed forests, and the unique patterns of its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you drive by to show its sculptural beauty and power with carefully selected lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. The rear of the tonneau in the Continental GT, for instance, featured the biggest piece of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after car brand in the world because of its distinctive design and quality. The company continues to push boundaries by utilizing the most advanced technology and manufacturing techniques, such as the introduction of the digital instrument cluster and an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof, a custom-designed docking station for Apple iPads and electrochromic "smart" glass that can be changed from opaque to transparent by pressing a button.

A century after its inception, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership after years of fighting with BMW - celebrated its centenary in 2019. The marque planned a series of special events and launches to mark the milestone event before the pandemic was declared a priority.

Design

Bentley is a renowned brand for its extravagant and lavish cars and even the keys are designed to stand out. The Bentayga key is crafted from sterling silver and features an enormous 'B' design that tells everyone you're driving a Bentley. It also has the years 1919 and 2019, to commemorate the company's centenary.

The Mulsanne was redesigned and improved by Bentley Mulliner to be the ultimate Grand Touring car. The rear seats were designed to provide passengers with unparalleled comfort and privacy. They were inspired by the luxury private aircraft. The customized heating and ventilation as well as air conditioning system was designed to give every passenger the perfect temperature control.

The Mulsanne is equipped with twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that produces 560bhp and 479lb-ft torque. This amazing power is coupled by a new suspension system that offers Bentley's signature quiet ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a unique specification known as the Centenary Specification for vehicles built in 2019. https://www.thekeylab.co.uk/bentley-car-keys/ includes cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embossed in Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a personalized Bentley keycase to complete the Bentley experience.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key comes with two buttons: one that opens the trunk, and the second which starts the vehicle. It also has a switch to switch on the parking break. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors when parking in tight spots. This feature makes it easier to get in and out of your car.

The key is made from vegetable tanned leather. It takes more than two days to craft each one. The key is cut by hand, shaped, stitched, sealed, and then polished to create a high-end result. It is sturdy and compact, and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its style is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key, but it feels much heavier and has a more premium feel.

It also comes with Secure-A-Key which can help prevent theft of keys that are keyless. This device is put into the remote-control fob, and is disabled when the key has not been used for a short period of time. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can be used to unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's unique design reflects the firm's values of high-quality craftsmanship and engineering expertise as well as cutting-edge technology. Its headquarters in Crewe are home to more than 4,000 workers who are responsible for the design, development, and production of Bentley vehicles. They apply their skills that have been passed through generations to modern automotive technologies. This is British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division allows customers to design their own vehicle. The "mood station" lets guests pick images that inspire them. They can choose anything from stunning views to sporting events. Every time a choice is made, the pattern that emerges shows the model of the Bentley, as well as the color and style preferences for the personalized Bentley.

The guests receive keys made by hand and containing the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. Keys can be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the opening door with the owner's name or logo as they approach the car.

Bentley estimates that it requires 500 man-hours to construct and build the Mulsanne. The unwillingness to embrace modern technology is the main factor to this time-consuming effort. The Crewe factory workers do not employ a machine to place perfectly matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. Instead of using the car's built-in sensors to guide it to parallel and perpendicular parking spaces the drivers must perform the task by hand.

During the event, Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities using one particular example that was the Mulsanne W.O. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars are available in 100. one key that features a slice of the 1930 8 Liter's crankshaft.
