Use a shaker or a salt shaker to distribute the powder lightly and evenly over the printed design. Hold the shaker steadily at a height of 6 to 8 inches and oscillate it horizontally. Avoid pressing down or applying too much pressure, as this can cause clumping. A flawless application appears as a ghost-like dusting—no gaps, no mounds.
Give the powder time to release from non-adhered areas before handling. Gently tap the sides or corners of the film to shake off non-bonded residue. Never introduce external air sources, as they risk contaminating adjacent areas or creating uneven coverage.
Transfer the film to a preheated press calibrated between 160°C and 170°C. The ideal dwell time ranges from 10 to 15 seconds, tuned to your equipment and film thickness. The heat will melt the adhesive powder into a thin, clear film that bonds the ink to the fabric.
After pressing, allow the film to cool slightly before peeling. Peel slowly at a 180 degree angle while the film is still warm but not hot. This helps ensure the adhesive stays bonded to the fabric and not pulled back up with the film. If you peel too soon while it’s still very hot, the adhesive may not have fully set. If you wait too long, the film might stick too firmly and become difficult to remove cleanly.
Always make sure your workspace is clean and free of dust, as particles can interfere with the powder’s adhesion. Store your adhesive powder in a sealed container in a dry, cool place to prevent moisture from affecting its performance.
