What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?

Transponder Codes

The last six digits of the VIN code are a unique serial number that is unique to the vehicle or truck. The final digit is also the check digit and the remaining numbers are transliterated to numbers. For example, the first digit gets a value of eight; then every subsequent digit grows by one until it reaches nine at seventh digit, and then transforms into two. Then, the entire VIN is converted back to its original form by multiplying each digit's weight by 11. If the result is the identical to the check digit then the VIN will be valid.
