What Kind of Research Happens in Your Field?

Aresty maintains a database of PRIOR research opportunities posted by our professors for undergraduate students. Applications for new projects will open in Spring, and all Rutgers students receive an email with a deadline and instructions for how to apply (see main page for more information).

Search Tutorial

We've included an annotated image of how to use the database below:

To search for projects:

  1. Enter terms to search for (we recommend leaving this blank at first — start with the next step about searching by "subject").
  2. Choose a subject to search for (tip: on a computer, if you type a letter, it will bring you to all subjects which start with that letter).
  3. Press "Search" to find projects.

Each research project will have the following information:

  1. Title,
  2. Description,
  3. Primary Advisor/Professor,
  4. Department(s)/Field(s).

You can click on a project to see more information, such as student responsibilities, plans/timelines, suggested skills/coursework/GPA, etc. — you need to sign in with your NetID to see all information.

How Can I Use This Information?

Various forms of "research" can look completely different, even within a single sub-field — use this database to get a better idea of what type of work is available for students at Rutgers, what professors are looking for in applicants, as well as what kind of research interests and inspires YOU!

As a tip, if a professor's work catches your eye, write it down and see if you can take courses with them in the future.
