The Sightings of the Blue Ridge Parkway

Your grandmother has probably told you the wives tales that your a descendant of a Cherokee princess, i know mine did as did many others. Or mabye you do have Cherokee blood coursing through your veins but for the Cherokee that lived throughout the blue ridge mountains in 1700, they were more reserved then the open-armed clans are today. For example If a person didn’t have clan affiliation, they were labeled as a stranger who presented "ill-will" and were harshly judged and rejected. One has to wonder how they feel now as so many of these outsiders destroy and disregard the land they so strongly protected. How does the mountain feel? After all it is 1.1 billion years old and the spirits always remember. How do the spirits left in these woods feel? Spirits like the Spear-Finger or U'tlun'ta' the shapeshifter with the obsidian knifed forefinger whom still strolls the forests of the blue ridge mountains. The stories of Spear finger warn of wandering children who will be drawn in with the chilling chant "U'ta! U'ta! I'll just stick it in,".
The story of U'tlun'ta are especially terrifying after the stabbing of a 6 year old child that occurred in 2016. Unfortunately this wasn't the only fatality on the parkway as I remind you of the Colonial Parkway serial killer who is rumored to never been caught and still killing today. I live in the blue ridge region myself and just like U'tlun'ta Ive heard of and seen the brown lights; on a summers night in the sky above the school I attended as a child, lights that flare into the sky catching your eye before disappearing but noticeable enough to make you park on the side of the road and wonder. More mysteriously and shocking is the disappearance of Chad Austin who went missing on Memorial Day in 2019, his remains were only found a year later in the Panther Falls water. Murdered but by what?
