Preface: This is intended to be a well-meaning, kind, gentle and respectful response to people who think it is a contradiction to call oneself a Christian furry; whoever is reading this, I hope it offers a deeper understanding for you, regardless of your view on the topic. Those who support Christian furries, please read the first two paragraphs of my response with awareness that those paragraphs are for people who are disapproving, with the rest being relevant to all (of course, "I have no ill will toward you," "I love you with Christian love," and "I bless and do not curse you" still apply!); God bless you :)
My response is as follows:
To those who think that calling oneself a Christian furry is a contradiction in terms, even to those would would say or have said unkind and/or judgmental things to me or others or are otherwise unkind about it:
First, I want you to know that I have no ill will toward you; rather, I love you with Christian love, and I bless and do not curse you. In response to your concerns, I think the following statement could help foster a greater understanding of my viewpoint:
I call myself a Christian furry without contradiction, this being true because I refuse to allow the unnecessary, sinful distortions that some try to mix into a harmless interest to characterize my own.
To elaborate, the definition of a furry is simply: "a fan of anthropomorphic animals". There is nothing innately sinful about that in and of itself; therefore all of the sin that is present in the furry fandom is due to the unnecessary, sinful distortions that, sadly, people have tried to mix into this harmless (and nonsexual) interest in anthropomorphic animals as defined above; I do not support those (or any) sinful distortions. My aim is to go about my interest in anthropomorphic animals in a Christ-centered, God-honoring way, relying on God and His glorious grace to have a pure heart and to keep myself unstained from the world, and by doing so, being a positive example for the furries who are living in darkness, shining the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ into that darkness, that they may be saved.
"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8 ESV)
Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV: "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." God bless you :)
