Evanescent
Perhaps it was a long time ago,
Maybe it was just yesterday,
To remember those simple times
Where you and I played carelessly for a long time
When was that? Three, five years ago?
It feels like if it were just yesterday.
Ah, the feeling of my bones aching
Just by sitting up and adjusting my body;
They just snap, crackle, and pop
Like that one sweet marshmallow fluff and puffed rice treat
Just the mere thought of remembering my childhood, I feel old
Yet I am only eighteen, living a life feeling as if I have been alive for over three decades.
Last time I looked outside, flowers were blooming and the mulberry trees started to grow their sweet berries
Yet now the evenings are hot, cicadas buzzing loudly as the leaves of the trees start to brown slowly
The melodic chirping of birds as their little babies hatched and cried for their mother and food
Now they're all grown, feathers ready and getting ready to fly away from their nest, preparing for long flights to the south
Soon enough, the trees and fields will be covered in that cold, soft, icy and crunchy powder
Maybe if I blink again, I will see that winter soon.
It was merely 9:23 PM when I blinked, 11:02 PM now...
It's close to midnight, it feels like I've done so little within so much time-
It scares me to know how fast it's all going,
It scares me that if I blink again, I would have missed out on other important things again
It feels like I am growing up too fast
Is it bad I don't want to grow up?
Perhaps if time would slow down a bit, everything would be fine
1:24 AM hits the clock, I am still wide awake
Time is nothing but a blur,
And to catch a moment of time, I'd have to lure it back like a fish
But going on in life, just you and me, is there anything else we could truly be?
Stars, please just don't let time pass by so fast.
