For Merth:

You hurried down the dirt path, narrowly dodging a passing merchant. You ignored his grumblings and relied on an instinctive, quick bow of your head to half-heartedly pacify as you continued down the road. The merchant may have been heading to his job, but you were bound for something far more important - something you were woefully late for.

She stood at the bridge, gazing across the small creek under it. Mononobe no Futo, the strange yet enticing beauty. She might have been short and dressed in odd clothes, but there was a charm to her. How she held herself, how she talked, and how she interacted with the world. Those unfamiliar with her assumed her to be closer to what one would expect of a hermit - a person with wisdom who could sustain herself on only the dew of a leaf. You knew her a bit better, though. You had begun to learn about the unique innocence she possessed beneath her Taoist knowledge. A great example would be this moment on the bridge. An outsider might have assumed she was deep in thought, but you knew it was more likely she was watching the water striders dance below.

When Futo saw you coming, her face shifted into a glare. "Thou art tardy." You apologized to her, giving her your best excuse. It did little to move her. "Verily, I must speak true, dost thou deem such conduct acceptable? When a rendezvous is ordained, thou must uphold it, come what may. To falter therein is most untenable." Her eyes were closed when she gave her short scolding, and the harsh expression she bore immediately softened once she turned to see your face. You must've looked dejected as the petite girl changed her tune. "Yet, thou hast arrived now, and that is what holds weight. Provided this doth not render itself a common occurrence, all shall be well."

You thanked her for her mercy. At least, you assumed she was being merciful. It was oftentimes difficult to decipher what she was saying. You hadn't seen her give a stern lecture like that in... well, really ever, you figured. "Truly? Perchance the other hermits doth influence mine own thoughts. I have been yearning to assume the mantle of a mentor and enlighten those who dwell in mine company. Pardon me if mine judgments be somewhat harsh." You told her to think nothing of it. You were glad to see her passionate about something.

The two of you headed into the village marketplace, searching for somewhere ideal to have dinner. You were hoping for something more Western, like burgers, a rare delicacy in Gensokyo, but not unheard of, but Futo was more excited to have some udon. Since you had arrived late, you yielded to her request.

Inside your booth, the girl began talking about how her day prior had gone. She prattled on for almost 10 minutes about all the mundane things she had experienced. You simply listened, content to hear her voice so eagerly tell you about things you had slight difficulty understanding (partly due to her speech patterns, and partly due to the esoteric nature of her studies).

After the udon was brought out, Futo began discussing the specifics of a topic that seemed to have captured her interest. "Upon a recent discourse with fair Seiga, she did impart unto me a matter most intriguing! Her utterances bear wisdom, yet oft she doth weave falsehoods and cunning within. However, I perceive them with clarity, fret not! In sooth, the lesson she unveiled pertained to the arcane secret of acquiring vigor and its refinement 'twixt two souls!" Futo leaned to the side to dig through a small bag she had, until she pulled out a strange box from the outside world. It took you a few seconds to identify what it was, as your memories of outside products had grown fuzzy after all your time here. "These delectable confections are most ardently cherished in realms afar, and they serve to aid two souls in garnering greater puissance! Behold, I dost take one of these sugary canes into mine own mouth, whilst thou dost bite the opposing end. Thereafter, we shall alternately advance and partake further of the stick until one amongst us doth yield to the other. Thus shall our energies find harmony and enhance both our arts!"

Was Futo serious? As the girl put the stick of candy into her mouth and looked at you with eager excited eyes, you realized that, yes, she was serious. She placed her hands on the table and leaned forward, sticking the stick of candy out of her mouth eagerly. You decided not to argue with her (her eyes were too bright, too eager to fight) as you carefully bit the tip of the other end of the stick. Staring straight into her face, she smiled, mumbling something that failed to come through, as she moved forward.

You had no intention of being outdone, and so you moved forward, taking another small bite.

Futo followed suit.

As did you.

Futo's face was beginning to change color as the two of you were getting closer and closer. Growing red, the poor girl realized what was happening. Did she not logically think about what would happen if neither of you yielded in time?

Probably not. And no doubt she wasn't planning on giving up just yet, as she took another bite.

You did too, leaning forward, not to be outdone. You were close to her now, looking down at her. Her short frame made it difficult to remain eye level with you, and now at such a close distance, you could nearly feel her breath. It was her turn now, and with her face beet-red and clammy, she took anot-

Futo had leaned so far forward against the table that her last attempt to bite the pocky stick ended with her falling forward, crashing into the table. The still-hot udon fell, staining the poor girl's white robes. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! O, ACCURSED VIANDS! HOW DAREST THOU SCORCH ME! PRAY, SOMEONE ASSIST! IT DOTH SCALD MY DERMA, THIS IS A TRAVESTY! CURSE THEE, SEIGA, THIS TWISTED MISERY IS THY BLAME! WRETCHED SIREN!"

You later took the poor girl to a bath to clean her off and a hot spring to help her relax. And since it was a mixed-gender hot spring, the two of you fucked like rabbits.
