Fortune Girl

Written by Eli Khaos

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who was born in a loving family within a small village. Beloved by all, she was blessed by a deity of life and fortune.

She was loved, cared, and she did the same for others. Though, she had an extraordinary power, which is the blessing to give fortune. For that, is the reason why many deemed her as the Fortune Girl.

One day, a man was having an unlucky time. He went to the Clover girl, and pleaded.

He looked up to her and cried, "My blessed girl! Please heed my request! For I have been suffering with misfortune! My wife has lost our child the day it was born! Our mirror shattered when I looked into it, and my mother is sick with an unknown disease! Please, oh dear fortunate girl, help me with my misfortune!"

The girl would smile softly and she would say, "poor poor soul, you have been hit with misfortune. Would you like a clover? It will grant you fortune at the cost of how your actions will go."

"Please! Anything! I simply wish for my misfortune to go away!" He begged upon his knees, where the blessed girl would smile softly.

"Very well, take this four leaf clover. This shall rid of any misfortune you have. But remember my warning, or misfortune shall fall heavier than before," she said softly as the man cried.

He gave his gratitude, in which he hurried away to his misfortuned family.

Once back to his family, he prayed upon the clover with a soft kiss, and in a matter of days, the misfortune was gone! His child came back to life, his mother's illness went away, and the misfortune that has falled upon his family has disappeared completely!

Word spread around the village, the blessed girl was soon filled with pleas, cries, and calls for help with their misfortune.

One day, a woman came, moaning a weary cry.
She fell upon her knees, and pleaded, "Oh Clover Girl, Clover Girl! Please heed my request! I am suspicious of my husband being unfaithful, for I am unsure if he is! Bless me with a bit of luck to find out the truth!"

The girl pondered, unsure for the first time if she should help. This problem can be quite simple to resolve, but it seems this woman had the misfortune of not being able to resolve it. So she smiled softly, and said, "poor poor soul, you have been hit with misfortune. Would you like a clover? It will grant you the fortune you need at the cost of how your actions will go."

"Yes! I need the luck! I want it, please give it to me!" She cried, taking the Clover from the girl.

The blessed girl frowned upon that first action, in which she said, "very well, take the four leaf clover. This shall aid you in finding the truth. But remember my warning, or misfortune shall fall heavier than before."

The woman got up, already hurrying away as she "yeah yeah! Thank you and good day!"
The woman hurried away to seek her husband back at her home.

The week after that, a man came in, distressed. "Sweet child blessed by the stars! Please heed my request! For I have the fear my wife has been hit with a misfortune! She has been cursed I say! For every misfortune falls upon her! Please, heed my request to help my wife! I fear that by the time I gift her my gifts for our anniversary she might fly away! I have been planning this surprised, and I have been spending time with my wife's childhood friend to find the perfect gifts for my beloved wife! I fear she might be suspicious of the surprise!"

The girl smiled softly, reassuring the man. So she said, "poor poor soul, your wife has been hit with misfortune. Would you like a clover? It will grant you the fortune you need at the cost of how your actions will go."

The man smiled, taking the offer as he cried his pure gratitude.

"Oh thank you! Thank you child blessed by the stars! I shall heed your warning and you shall forever have my gratitude!"

And so, he went away.

As time passed by, there was sudden word that a couple have gotten into a tragic accident.

Apparently the wife was suspicious of her husband of committing adultery behind her spouse. In which, the husband was merely planning their anniversary for the two with the help of the wife's childhood friend.

But to the husband's demise, it was the wife who has been with a lover all along and simply wanted to keep her husband in check. With her negative actions came consequences. The couple argued for days on end, and one day, they both have fallen into misfortune. Their lives were set ablaze after knocking over a candle. Quite a tragic ending.

Clover Girl shook her head, sad to see such a tragic ending in which she offered her help.
"Poor poor souls, I have told them to heed my warning. For fortune goes both ways, what fools they were in the very tragic end."
