Growing Up
Born a child,
Growing up to be a young adult,
Time passes so fast
It gives me mild feelings.
Reality gets bitter
The more you grow up,
Losing innocence is easy;
But growing up is hard to face.
Childish days—
When you had but not a care in the world,
Playing with toys without an end,
Playing games with your imaginary friends.
Growing up is but a pain,
You’re expected to act proper and mature,
Money down the drain,
Painkillers to end the pain.
I need something to hold on to,
To hold onto those innocent days,
Losing innocence is easy;
But growing up is hard to face.
I want that innocence back,
When I was clueless and naive—
I don’t want to grow up,
I want my innocence back.
