back to directory

Terms:
IRL - Some who identifies as a fictional character due to psychosis or delusions. They cannot control this and truly believe they are that character. They can experience “shifts” like otherkin can but they truly believe they are that character unlike with most otherkin who know they are not physically the thing.
Nubil - A term for when the line between fictionkin and IRL is blurred due to the nature of one’s delusions. This can be affected by or heightened by other neurodivergency but that is not always the case. The verb form would be nubi, for example, I nubi __.
Double - A term for when two people IRL the same character. Some IRLs are fine/comfortable with meeting doubles, while some are not. Ex. Two IRLs of Pinkie Pie would be doubles.
Reality checking - which is basically informing an IRL or person with delusions about them not being that character/their delusion not being true and can be harmful and heavily anxiety inducing.
Synid- a term for an identity different than your bodily one that is affected/causef by neurodivergence or mental illness. Synid is best defined as a reality-contradicting identity that arises from delusions, trauma, synesthesia, derealization/depersonalization/dissociation, and similar.
