Innocence

Lets play together
Pull out your toy
A game we shall play
I brought my toy, a bunny plushie
Hop hop hop, it goes
"This bunny is hungry, do you have any carrots?"
"Yes I do, a carrot a cent"
"Very well then, give me the biggest and juiciest carrot!"
The bunny is hungry so the bunny pays and eats the carrot

We decide to go outside
The green itchy grass tickling our ankles
"Lets make a salad!" said the bunny,
You agree and we get up to grab the ingredients:
Collect a patch of grass for the lettuce
Rip the dandelions from its place and use it as other greens,
Mix the dirt with water and make some mud
Slather it on top of the greens, the dressing it shall be
Rocks for croutons, sand for seasoning,
A garden salad it became

Grab a stick and pretend its a fork
Feed the bunny the salad we made
Putting it up to its cloth face, avoiding the muddy concoction from staining its white muzzle
"It's so yummy! Thanks for the food!"
We laugh, having fun
The bunny and the mechabot, how fun it is to play together
Those hot summer days when the cicadas sang loudly
The sun ablaze as a soft breeze kissed our cheeks ever so often
Playing until we argue
You yell at me because I accidentally stepped on your toy, it's arm breaking off
Crying, mom came outside to see what happened, scolding both of us with a frown
"I hate you!" you said
Those words hurt, don't you know?

Looking back, there were a lot of things that happened
That you can only ever understand when you are older
The silly childish things we would do
To escape, distract, and shield ourselves from the harsh realities of the adult world
Those two little kids that were us
Their bright smiles with that glint of happiness in their eyes
Look at ourselves now,
Where did all that happiness go?
I guess we really did grow up after all,
You cannot see that same childish carefree-ness and happiness in anyone who has grown up
Depressing isn't it?
It hurts, those happy kids that we were are lost in the dark
It's sad, they can't get out, they're scared
I wish I could go back in time
I want to be that happy care-free child again
I don't want to grow up
I really don't wanna grow up.
