Backstory

As a child, Akuma Fuyu was cherished by his family. However, when his sister, Akuma Crystal, was born, everything changed. Crystal quickly became the favorite, and Fuyu found himself neglected and overlooked. His parents gave everything to Crystal, while Fuyu received nothing. Fortunately, Crystal saw through their favoritism and showed kindness to her brother, offering him the warmth and attention their parents denied, much to their disapproval.
At 15, Fuyu fell deeply in love with a fiery-haired girl named Flammia Blali. But after a few months, Blali left him for someone she deemed better. Heartbroken, Fuyu moved on and found comfort in Yoshino Amaya, a girl who shared a passion for the sea. However, their relationship was short-lived too when Amaya had to move away, leaving Fuyu behind once again.
Then came Yokata Nao, who became a crucial figure in 16-year-old Fuyu’s life. Nao supported him, challenged him to step beyond his comfort zone, and helped him discover parts of himself he never knew existed. But just as Fuyu began to trust again, his heart was shattered when Nao accused him of stealing a treasured gift from his deceased grandparents.
On his 17th birthday, Fuyu decided to give his parents what he thought would be the greatest gift he could give them: he ran away from home. Though his sister was devastated, Fuyu promised her he would return one day — but only for her.
For the next few years, Fuyu lived out in the snow-covered forests that blanketed the continent. The icy winds and biting cold became his constant companions as he learned to survive, finding solace in the quiet isolation. After one of his hunts, as he was washing the blood from his hands in a river, that he noticed a small snow fox watching him from a distance. At first, he dismissed it as a curious onlooker, but day after day, the fox continued to trail him. Eventually, Fuyu extended a tentative hand, and the fox approached, nuzzling his fingers with surprising warmth. Though he has yet to name it, the creature seems to have adopted him in its own way.
When Fuyu finally returned home, hoping that time away might have healed old wounds or that his family might have changed.
Fuyu soon learned that their parents had disapproved of Akito's transition, having wanted a daughter, not two sons. Akito had endured the same mistreatment Fuyu had, rejected and ignored. But now, with the crimson of their family staining his hands, Fuyu realized he could no longer stay. Without a word, he turned and fled once more, leaving his brother behind. But nothing had changed. His parents were still as cruel and dismissive as ever, and his sibling, now living as a male going by the name Akito, had endured the same mistreatment Fuyu had. Their parents had rejected Akito as they had rejected Fuyu, cruelly disapproving of the transition. They had always wanted a daughter, not two sons, and in their eyes, Akito was as much of a failure, if not more, as Fuyu had been.
Akito, the one person in his family who'd ever shown him love, being subjected to years of mistreatment, abandoned and ignored by the same family that had once supposed to love them, broke something inside him. And with the weight of his family’s rejection crashing down on him, Fuyu snapped. He couldn’t stand it any longer. His family, once the source of his pain and neglect, would never change. The crimson of their family stained his hands as he shed their blood, no longer willing to let them live in the same world that had torn him apart.
But Akito wasn’t home when it all happened. Fuyu stood over the bodies of their family, the wreckage of years of trauma and hate before him. For a moment, he felt nothing but the bitter satisfaction of finally taking control of his fate. But then, the weight of it all pressed in. He realized that, no matter what, he couldn’t stay. This house, this family, was no longer his. It was tainted by too much blood and too many scars.
Without a word, Fuyu fled once more. He couldn’t stay here—he wasn’t welcome, and the ghosts of his past would only haunt him if he did.
When Akito got home, he found the police at the door. The horrific scene that awaited him was a reminder of the pain they’d both suffered for so long. Fuyu was gone, vanishing into the night, just as he always had. Akito had been the only one to stand by Fuyu’s side all those years, but now, he was left alone to deal with the consequences of a family that had never accepted them. The devastation was too much to bear.
Before Fuyu left, he found Akito. His final goodbye to the one person he knew truly loved him in his life before he disappeared once again as a wanted fugitive. But to Fuyu, it was better that way.
