Melatonin

After long hours of the sun shining,
The sun starts to set gently in the horizon,
The night comes along,
And others grow tired
Of all the things I said,
How I sometimes wish I could shut up and fall asleep.
The sweet scent of the blooming of night flowers,
Something I want to keep and hold
Precious to me I hold,
Holding dear to me the calming sense of the night.
Let the moon rise high,
Golden yellow or silver white;
The lunar craters that are visible from this earth,
Something magnificent to be seen.
Let the fireflies float and spark,
Flying on about as they flash their lights
Hoping to gain a mate or to tell their friends to watch out
They look like tiny floating green and yellow stars from afar,
Something that in midsummer evenings I hold close to me.
Give me that bottle,
The sweet sweet sleepy candy that I need;
Let it taste sweet and chemical in my mouth,
Let it make me grow tired and sleepy,
Let it make my eyes heavy as I yawn,
Longing for my bed do I cry to sleep.
That sweet sweet taste of berry-flavored medicine,
It's been past midnight and I grow old and tired,
Let me sleep once more,
And by force shall I rest once more.
Near twenty or forty pills shall I take,
Of that sweet sweet melatonin
To put me to rest
Once more
For ever.
