Midsummer Nights
Breathe in the subtle cold air,
The nightly winds as they brush past your hair,
Those sweet evenings in where the sun would set
And the night would wake to give you a gentle whisper
That it is time to let go
forevermore.
Don't worry, there is nothing that you cannot bare
The moon will rise high to greet you with a soft cool smile
The stars glimmering and shimmering like the reflection of light upon a gentle ever flowing lake,
Swarmed with the soft songs of crickets as the fire flies dance and swirl during these summer nights
The grass rustling and blowing away as the sound of branches rushing and creaking during this gentle night
Watching the stars gaze by,
dropping and running across the sky like rain
Wishing upon a shooting star:
"How long will it take?"
How long will it take until I can no longer make?
Rather, it must all have been done in my head then,
The hot humid sunny days would make me feel quite braze
The heat getting into my head and making it spin
Was it all done for sanity's sake?
Even then
I prefer the cool summer nights
Where the calm coolness would wrap me up,
Watching the stars and fireflies twinkle ever so slightly,
The soft calming orchestra of the soft chirps of crickets and the rustling melodies of the flora surrounding me
Sitting within my little enclosed box with a window
Longing to step outside and into the dark,
Where I could stay up all night
To watch the night rise and then fall asleep at daybreak,
It's those midnight summer nights I long for the most.
