APK PATCHING GUIDE WITH REVANCED
Patch, Install and Update your modded Android Apps. You can find the list of supported apps on the official Revanced website.
Patching (and Updating) Guide
If you already have Revanced Manager installed, you can skip the Get the tools
section. To update a modded app, just patch the new version and install it. You don't need to uninstall the old one as long as it was patched using the same exact Revanced Manager App.
Get the tools
- Download and install Revanced Manager from the official website -> direct link.
- Open Revanced Manager and grant the required permissions. Download the necessary files (the patches) when prompted.
- If you have never used or are unfamiliar with the Manager, read Revanced Manager 101.
Patch the app (this is also the Updating guide)
- Open Revanced Manager and use the bottom menu to navigate to the
Patcher
tab. - Use the
Select an app
button to search for the app you want to patch. - Tap on the
Suggested Version
pill to search for the app on Google. - Download the .apk (but do not install it yet) from the first result (it's usually apkmirror, which is a trusted source). Even if apkmirror tells you that "A more recent upload may be available", stick with the Suggested Version Revanced Manager told you to use.
- Return to
Revanced Manager -> Patcher -> Select an app
and tap theStorage
button in the bottom-right corner to select the downloaded .apk - The default patches are automatically selected, but you can customize the selection by tapping on them. Note that to apply any changes, you need to activate the
Allow changing patch selection
switch in the Manager'sSettings
tab. This is almost never needed. - Tap the
Patch
button to start the patching process. Depending on the .apk size and number of selected patches, this could take a while. - Once the patcher is done, you can
save
orInstall
the patched .apk. Sometimes the installation process gets stuck, so I recommend saving the patched .apk before trying to install it; this way, you can directly install the patched .apk without having to re-patch it if something gets stuck. Return to Step number 5 if nothing works or you encounter the "Installation Cancelled" error.
After saving the patched .apk, tap onInstall
. If the installation fails, uninstall the previously installed version of the app you patched. - You might want to uninstall the unpatched official version of the app to avoid confusion.
- Go into your
device settings -> Apps
, select the official app and tap onUninstall
(orDisable
if it's a preinstalled app you cannot uninstall).
- Go into your
Fix the links opening in the browser/unpatched app instead of the patched app
Apps installed from outside the Google Play Store don't open their related links in the app by default; instead, the links open in the browser. This behavior can be changed, although the steps may differ slightly depending on the phone brand and version. Below is the general idea
- Go into your
device settings -> Apps -> Default Apps -> Opening Links
. - Make sure that the
Open links in apps
switch is enabled. It should be enabled by default on all devices. - Select the patched app from the app list.
- Enable the
Open supported links
switch. - Enable all the supported web addresses from the switches' list.
If you also have the unpatched official version of the app and prefer opening links in the patched version, repeat steps 3 and 4. Select the official app and disable the Open supported links
switch this time. You can also uninstall the official app if you don't need it, by following step 9 of the "Patch the app (this is also the Updating guide)" section
Additional steps
Some apps require extra configuration steps to work correctly or to take full advantage of the patches

The patched apks use different signatures and package names from the original apks. In simple terms, this means that you can install both the patched version and the official version (which is uninstallable on some devices). The catch is thatGoogle Play Services
(a component of the Android operating system that manages Google accounts on the device) does not work with modded apps. This issue can be solved usingGmsCore/microG Services
, which is an open-source implementation of Play Services that can also work with modded apps.- When you open the patched Youtube or YoutubeMusic you will be redirected to GmsCore's Github page. This usually only happens the very first time, because you don't have GmsCore yet.
- Just download and install the
Default
option, or theHuawei
version if you are using one. You do not need to open the app after the installation. - Once you have installed GmsCore, open the patched Youtube/Youtube Music app again to login into your account. Disable the battery optimization for GmsCore if prompted to do so.
- Transfer Your Spotify Library to YouTube Music
Follow this guide - YouTube Settings for Custom Features and Personalization
In the modded Youtube app, tap on your Account/Library and open the settings. Select the first entry to customize Youtube Revanced settings. You can customize almost every single app component. Need more info about a switch or setting? Check out this resource.
