I'll take you to the seven seas of rhye!

Rhye is a fantasy world Freddie Mercury created with his younger sister when they were children, and he'd end up writing a few songs about it . . . Which I'm now ripping off
Rhye is a universe with original ( debatable ) characters I've made ( stolen ) usually based on Queen songs, a lot from the Queen I & II albums
this shit has led me down so many hyperspecific rabbit holes that some of the references / inspirations are a bit out there
i love queen

Shortly after the Rat Race, Cytora found himself in need of someone who could fetch things for him. He was still fresh in most people's minds at this point, and thus hadn't been able to get any new clothes or anything to change or hide his appearance with, so he couldn't do much of that himself without running the risk of being identified. This was, however, the extent of Cytora's caution. Still reeling and out of his mind from the total upturn of his life after the Rat Race, Cytora wasn't thinking very straight and hadn't been able to process everything yet; because of this, he still had a lot of naivety in him. So, when observing a small village's square from a large tree on it's edge and he saw another fairy enter a tavern, he assumed they must have good intentions and would be willing to help him. Cytora waited for the fairy to leave again, which they did once the sun started to set. He waited until they'd set off down a street and then hurried across the town square to follow them. Cytora reached them when they were about halfway through an alley and he spoke to them. This fairy was Zela M. Mark, a traveller who wandered between villages finding and doing tasks given to him in order to make enough money to be able to travel as much as he wanted. Worried Zela might not believe it was really the Fairy King, Cytora got his damaged crown and handed it to Zela as evidence of his identity. The traveller however already believed him, and immediately handed him his crown back, commenting on how dumb it is to just give it out to strangers.
a big reason that cytora knows zela doesn't have ulterior motives or would betray him is the fact that when they first met, zela didn't run away with his crown or sell cytora out for some quick cash, and that was all before zela even knew cytora personally, so it's only amplified now

"Every second word he swore, yes he was the son of a whore"
Muridae Korinch
great king rat -- Queen I
full name: Muridae Korinch
Muridae is taken from the Muridae / murids rodent family, which have a shit ton of rats n mice n gerbils n shit. Korinch is derived from Korinch's Rat, a random rat species i found which, lucky me, wasn't named after a probable coloniser. unlike some other species
nicknames or aliases: great king rat, 'könig' ( i guess they can speak german. lol )
songs:
Great King Rat -- Queen I
Liar -- Queen I
Mad the Swine -- Queen I
Muridae's father, Norvegicus, wanted to teach him from the moment he could speak to never trust a single soul as he believed everyone lives only to live the best life they can—whether that be at the expense of others or not, deceit and betrayal on the table. With "not a single soul" he meant not a single one, which he made very clear to Muridae when he was ten by attacking Neotoma, ratting out her war plans to other kingdoms, and attempting to abandon them both. From this point on Muridae knew the only thing he could believe was what his father told him, though in spite of that, he still trusted and believed his mother, something which would never wane until right before her death. This exception was because she "raised him right" (in his words, probably not the opinion of most) and never showed any want to betray him, nor did she even have a reason to. She wanted to bring him into this world, after all. Muridae feels he owes her everything for that.
The trust Muridae had for his mother only faltered shortly before her death. Neotoma had never been that stable of a person, but what was consistent was her believing or attempting to understand Muridae. As she entered the last few of her years however, she started getting plagued by disease and illness, causing her to become more bedridden and erratic. Muridae, of course, tried his damndest to keep her alive and healthy for as long as possible, using any resources he had available to him to try and achieve that and diverting all his attention to her; but death stops for no one, and Neotoma's ailments reached their zenith in her last month alive. She started believing her son thought of her as a burden and wanted her gone already, and that he had been poisoning her food, which was why her condition had worsened; because of this, she refused to eat or drink anything offered to her. Naturally this didn't help anything. This sudden switch was something Muridae had never expected, especially given his recent uptick in care for her. He didn't know how he felt*—he'd never been good with emotions—but it was all muddled into rage. Neotoma's stubborness and unwavering, constant accusations led him to get fed up with it all, indeed thinking of her as a burden, just as she had initially thought he did. Ultimately, Muridae ended up killing Neotoma by strangling her to death in her bed. If he hadn't done this, she would've still died a few days later.
*In reality, Muridae felt heartbroken and betrayed at this sudden accusation, disappointed due to his care not having 'been enough,' and angry at Neotoma's ungratefulness for everything he'd done for her.
After this, he started thinking about his father a lot more. It'd been ages since he disappeared, hell, probably died, but his words always stuck with Muridae. He felt stupid for not taking them to the extreme, for still having an exception. It was clear as day to him now, more than it had ever been: you can't trust anybody. So why should you care if others trust you? Betrayal is just survival. It is a rat race, after all.
In Great King Rat
, a song which I imagine Muridae's cronies™ made after his death, his mother is referred to as a whore, so I imagine he never changed his mind about Neotoma and always loathed her from then on and spread this opinion to everyone he had sway over.
"And that's no lie!"

"Not a word, not a word"
Neotoma like Neotoma / pack rat genus
Muridae's mother
she's the typa mother to say "I brought you into this world, I can take you out of it as well"
she wanted muridae to stay out of crime and debauchery because she knows how you can't trust anyone in their circle . . she hoped he'd find more trustworthy people in different circles . the reason he still did though was because she knew she couldnt and shouldnt absolutely control his life to such a degree, so he was still able to interact with whoever he wanted
"Or else you'll find yourself being the rival"

at least seven seas ( as in the seven seas of rhye I & II)
i imagine that seven seas of rhye II
is a folk song that almost every being from rhye knows and is. like. the sentiment everyone shares
place names:
Cytora's kingdom: also called "the promised land"
Semper's kingdom: "City of the Fireflies"
Muridae's kingdom: "The Rat's nest" or simpy "The Nest"
the seven seas:
they're named after the planets in our solar system, excluding Pluto and the Earth . . . i thought of this because of the
line in My Fairy King
, which I've made be about some kind of deity . and maybe she's associated with one of the seas i guess
so theres Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune
since ive made no map yet theres no real distinction between any of them yet, though i might make it that theyre named according to size, so that the biggest sea is named after jupiter, the second largest saturn, et cetera
