Solitude
I've never had many friends growing up,
Everyone I knew always seemed to stare at me and judge me
Everyone I looked at always looked at me as an alien,
Everyone I considered friends never even considered me a friend
And so, I sit here with my best friend, Solitude.
At lunch, Solitude sits beside me
Comforting me with their calm silence,
Although I wish they could speak,
It'd be a bit better if it were possible.
At home, I sit in my room--
On my bed, in the corners of the walls that keep me safe,
Solitude sits beside me, curled up with their knees to their chest,
Imitating me as I do so.
Solitude is the one I can be comfortable with,
Although I fear their twin, Absolute Solitude
I'd rather stuck with Solitude than their twin,
At least i'm not breaking down due to autophobia with them.
Solitude is very nice,
Who needs friends when you have Solitude?
They keep you company when there is no one around to help
That's one nice thing about my best friend Solitude.
Solitude, the one who will always be by your side;
The one who would never abandon you,
The one who would always follow you to keep you company,
A quiet company in which the silence brings a soft uneasy comfort.
Solitude, the one who never talks;
A soft silence, a small whisper,
A soft gaze from Solitude's eyes as they smile with lips of silence
Lips in which never part nor open; a soft kiss of silence to one's heart.
Solitude is my best friend,
Who needs friends when you have Solitude?
You can talk with Solitude for hours, talk about anything and everything
And Solitude would always be there to listen to you.
Even though it does get lonely with Solitude,
I at least know by far I am not alone
Solitude might not be seen by anyone
But I know best that Solitude is always here for me.
Solitude is my best friend,
But I miss my friends...
The ones I can talk to for hours and they would talk with me too,
The ones I could play with and spend my time with,
Even if we were far apart.
Stuck inside a small cube
With furniture and a bed,
Solitude sits next to me, holding my hand
And for once, it whispers softly to my ear,
"It's okay, I'm here. You are not alone."
And so, I am stuck with my best friend Solitude.
