How to Solo Clear (?) a Friendly World Class Raid (?)

Two goblins sat in a dingy ally.
They were AFK.
Eventually, one of the goblins sent a message to the other.

Sirens blared.
Lights flashed.
People cheered.

The DUMP DOME, a popular PvP Arena, was packed.

Two huge gates, straight across from each other, were closed to a muddy, brown-green arena.

A large forcefield surrounded the area, preventing any attacks from going OoB.

Murky water gushed out of pipes, and with being constantly drained through grates at the side, the arena was consistently home to a shallow puddle that spread across it.

The two huge gates began to open, and a leaderboard appeared high above in the center of the dome.

On one side of the arena, a huge figure walked out of the darkness. A gargantuan woman wielding an even larger sword stepped out into the light, and was met with a roar of applause.

On the other side of the arena, a slightly less huge figure emerged from the darkness. He wore what appeared to be a shoddy salmon suit similar to the one from that one episode of Spongebob, but it completely hid his face. He had a similar roar of applause.

The two combatants made it to the center of the arena, where they shook hands.

They spoke.

"Hey, Vera."
"Hello, Volq."
"So, you need a Master, right?"
"What? I mean, I guess, but it's ok if I don't have one for a friendly match."
"Aw, c'mon! It'll put on a better show! Here, I got you!"

Volq stepped back and began to cast a spell.
As Vera watched, a small slimy fish came out of a portal.

"Here, this guy can fit in your inventory. He counts as an NPC."
"Aw, thanks!"

Once again, the crowd roared in applause at this amazing showing of sportsmanship.

After Vera pocketed the fish after designating it as her Master, she looked at her opponent.

"Oh, I need to do something for you. You have a 24 hour buff you typically use, right? Go cast it, I won't bother you."
"Gee, thanks!"

Another amazing showing of sportsmanship warranted another round of applause.

Volq stepped further back and went to cast one of his main spells, "Magma Moon."

As a burning sphere appeared above him, the crowd watched the spectacularly boring Werewolf transformation. After about 6 seconds of an unskippable animation later, a fish-like monster stood in place of the large salmon-suit.

"...So, we're ready?"
"I guess. You want me to step back closer, or...?"
"No, you can stay there."
"Alright!"

The fish-beast turned his head upwards and shouted into the sky.

"OK, START THE COUNTDOWN!"

Both combatants stared at each other.

Glowing numbers appeared in the sky.

3!!
2!!
1!!
GO!!

Vera slowly lifted her sword, and Volq did nothing but watch. He cast no spells, he perfomed no actions, he simply watched.

As Vera finished lifting her blade above her head, the fish-beast had been launched across the arena, smashing into the half-closed gate he emerged from.

The crowd watched in silence, as the battle was seemingly won before a single attack was even seen.

The fish was still, before wriggling around and flopping back up.

"That hurt."

In a blur, Vera was already in front of the fish, who was now frothing at the mouth with lava.

He opened his mouth, and a greatsword was slashed across it, causing the beast to be slammed head first into the wall. Magma was coughed up.

Before the beast turned, a downwards slash had hit his neck, and the beast's head had been violently pinned to the floor. His mouth frothed with lava once again.

Volq thrashed around, and with each spasm the sword was deflected, only to be brought down harder again and again. As Vera continually crushed the fish's head with the sword, getting closer and closer to decapitating the beast, Volq had finally cast a spell.

Vera saw the orange glow of heat, and quickly reacted by shielding with her greatsword, being launched back by a cloud of ash that obscured one side of the arena.

Sliding to a stop on the other side of the arena, Vera watched as the smoke cleared.

A great spire of volcanic rock had been erected, and orange light pulsed from with.

Volq was buffing himself.

The spire exploded, and Vera guarded herself once again, this time from flaming stone and molten rock that splattered all across the battlefield.

Volq emerged, covered in an armor of magma.

"Alright! Now, let's REALLY start!"

Vera sprung into action once again, and this time the fish spewed magma in order to interfere with the assault.

As the woman took no damage from the counterattack, rushing through the stream, she slammed the giant slab of metal into the fish's head, connecting with a CLANG.

Behind the cracked faceplate that the fish-beast armored himself with, unfeeling, vacant eyes stared back out, and the beast swung his heavy tail in the direction of the bodyguard as his only reaction to the attack.

As she quickly guarded against the counter, unmoving in turn, she began an assault of her own.

In a frenzy, she repeatedly slashed across the fish-beast, cracking it's armor with each blow, only for Volq to launch his body at full force right at her, causing her to roll away.

As Vera looked up, the Mystic Fis(h)t had finished casting another spell, and volcanic ash streamed out of the beast's maw, obscuring the area.

Vera listened closely with her enchanced hearing, and focused.

Ignoring the cheers of the crowd, she listened for any signs of where Volq could be.

As she waited, she felt no attempt to attack, and sensed no spells being cast.

Instead of focusing on the perfect oppurtunity for a counter, she charged her strength and raised her blade above her head.

In a single swing, a great whirlwind was created, dispersing all of the ash.

...

There was a new opponent.

A hulking, red humanoid with four arms, taller than even Vera, stood next to Volq. A ring of runes surrounded them. That was what prevented Volq from being detected.

The ring dissipated, and the giant growled. Volq felt that an introduction was in order.

"Meet 'Tyrasura Inductil'."
"...Is he a summoned NPC?"
"An 8th Tier spell."
"...Fast cast time, huh?"
"A bit."

The giant charged at Vera, grappling at her with all 4 of its huge arms. Not budging an inch, Vera instead tossed the giant to the ground, and readied her sword for an execution.

Just as she brought down the sword over the giant's neck, a dome of volcanic rock was erected as a barrier to defend it.

Volq began a stance, and leapt up into the air, his mouth frothing with magma, once again.

Seeing an opening, Vera jumped onto the dome and used her sword to similarly vault herself into the air to meet her opponent.

The automaton readied her sword, and as the half-blood attempted to crash into her, she made one clean strike, sending the fish-beast landing into the ground harshly.

She looked at Volq, and saw that his burning armor was starting to peel off his chest from such an attack.

He did nothing in reaction, but began to cast another spell.

Heated energy surging through him, shining light radiated from Volq. Vera went to stop what could possibly be a gamechanger.

Dashing to stop the cast, Vera held her weapon out, straight in front of her, like the horn of a charging bull. As the spell became closer to completion, a ball of black smoke appeared within Volq's mouth.

Before the spell could fully be cast, Vera's weapon reached Volq's chest, and was plunged inside of it.

And the spell was cast anyway.

Black smoke streaming out of the fish-beast's mouth, Vera held her ground, yet glowing cracks appeared beneath her feet.

Vera felt her surroundings change in a subtle way, and she realized that gravity was being reversed.

As she and the fish-beast began to lift up off the ground, Volq freed himself from the sword as he writhed in midair, sending Vera away.

Both combatants landed on the invisible forcefield of the dome, and the murky water that was being pumped out of the pipes started to pool in the center of the new battlefield, this time without being drained.

Vera looked at Volq, and saw that his wound was slowly healing.

As both combatants stared at each other for a short time, Vera charged at Volq, but this time he cast a much shorter spell, if he did at all.

Glowing with a strange, orange light, Volq plumetted back to the normal ground, leaving Vera stranded above him.

Vera prepared a leap to strike the foe that was on her 'ceiling', and midair she was struck by a rock that was spat up by Volq.

As the rock connected with Vera, it did little damage, but expanded into a volcanic wall as it pushed her back to her 'ground', turning into a large rock 'floor' that sealed her there.

With a shallow pool of murky water up to her hips, Vera prepared to destroy the 'roof' above her, and drippings began to emerge from it. Vera watched in confusion as the strange globs of magma formed black dots that acted as eyes, and the elemental slimes began to assault her.

As the slimes landed, the murky water began to boil, causing a steam that made it hard to see. These slimes could do no damage due to their lacking stats, but they would definitely waste time.

One slime came up from behind, only to be splatted with the blunt side of the sword.
Another two jumped at her from both sides, only to similarly be splatted away by a helicopter swing.
An incredibly large slime jumped on Vera to pin her, but she easily lifted it and threw it into the volcanic seal, splatting the slime and cracking the rock.

Vera got an idea.

With each slime that attacked, it was thrown, punted, or catapulted into the seal.

As the steam began to escape through the cracks, Vera saw a ghastly smoke escape through the cracks as well.

Stomping a nearby slime into oblivion under her foot, she saw the same smoke rise out from it.

It was a soul.

Throwing a final nearby slime at full force into the volcanic wall, it finally burst, and Vera saw the souls of the slimes slip through cracks into the shell that held Tyrasura Inductil.

It was not a shield.

It was a cocoon.

As the dome cracked, the giant was released, at an even larger size.

It crashed down like a meteor onto Vera, and that's when she heard Volq speak up again.

"VOLQANIQ DOMAIN!"

As the giant pinned her under itself with all four of its huge arms, Vera finally started taking some damage.

Almost none, but bit by bit, she was taking residual damage that her natural regeneration could barely overcome.

She could tell that light around her turned hot, and just behind the giant, the normal terrain of the arena was turned into a volcanic hellscape.

With two of the giant's arms that now burned at the touch still pinning her down, the giant freed the use of its other two, and starting striking Vera in the face.

Bolstered by the elemental energy of the slimes, the giant was much stronger than before, and was disorienting Vera with each blow. But the more pressing issue was Volq, who would still be casting another spell with Vera's inaction.

Mustering up her strength, she freed one arm from the grapple, smashed the giant in the face, and used the time to free her other arm. Gripping her great sword, she swung it straight through the giant's midsection, completely bisecting it in two.

And then Volq finished casting another spell.

A huge stalactite of volcanic rock was released out of the fish's maw, growing to a great size and simultaneously piercing through the giant's chest as it was bisected, landing and keeping Vera in place.

The giant itself ignored the lack of its lower half, and used its four arms to grab and press Vera back down with the aid of the weight of the spire.

Four, spider-like legs emerged from the spire, and lifted both itself and the giant above Vera, before crashing back down.

Vera defended against the sharp earth with her sword over her chest, and the giant tried to grab and yank her sword from her to make the next attack successful.

Instead, Vera overpowered the giant, tossed the spider-giant-thing to the side, and rose back to her feet.

She grabbed the abomination, and began to spun around, building up centrifugal force.

As she directly looked at Volq, she saw that he was casting a great spell. She was going to stop that.

Finallu hitting her peak speed, she sent the abomination spiraling at Volq.

It was a direct hit, causing an explosion of heat.

...That wouldn't kill him.

Vera waited for the smoke to clear, and the gravity around her changed back to normal, dropping her into the smoke. Although the ground underneath her feet still burned, the reversed gravity effect had at least stopped.

Due to the smoke, she couldn't see what Volq was doing, but she could hear a strange bubbling noise.

Readying her blade, she watched as as the smoke cleared, and Volq was nowhere to be found.

She did see the bubbling magma beneath him, however.

A horrible burning leviathan, as tall as a great fortress, rose from the ground.

And it spoke.

"GRAHAHAHAHAHAHA! YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BUST OUT ALL THE STOPS FOR A GOOD SHOW! ONLY THE GREATEST OPPONENTS GET TO BEHOLD THIS RESULT OF A SUPER TIER SPELL; 'SHASTA MONS LEVIATHAN'!"

"Seems strong."

"YOU BET! NOW, LET'S FINISH THIS! THE PEOPLE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH FOR THE GRAND FINALE!"

As the behemoth gathered burning energy in his mouth, Vera prepared a stance. She decided to utilize a Super Tier Spell of her own; the strongest one she had.

This will be finished in one blow.

The horrible fish-beast, stronger than ever before, aimed his head to raze the automaton with one final attack.

Vera looked up at the monstrosity, and readied an attack of her own. Golden energy surrounded her blade.

Vera lept up at Volq, connecting her blade with the ball of energy just as it was about to be unleashed.

An explosion of burning energy swept across the arena, completely filling the forcefield it, and wind blew across the audience.

The audience waited with baited breath as the energy cleared from the arena.

The castle-sized leviathan stood proud and dead, with the top half of his head finding its new location on the charred floor.

Next to it, a burnt robotic frame laid still; destroyed.

The crowd roared with one final roar of applause, and many in the crowd used the Throw Rose emote to show their joy.

This truly was a show for the ages.

Backstage, Volq and Vera talked.

"Well, that was fun, I guess."
"You bet! I thought it was great!"

Both of them were respawned and chilling, no worse for wear due to the nature of the arena.
Volq had a strange sense of sadness.

"Yeah, I can't top this. This is probably gonna be one of my final showings on YGGDRASSIL, though, so I'm glad that this is my magnum opus. I know it's shutting down soon, and I already found a cool alternative! It's called SUPER FANTASTIC OCEAN SIM, or SFOS! Maybe you should log on sometime! It's great FIN! Y'know, like fun? Hah."

Vera wasn't really paying attention.

"Uh, sure, maybe."

Volq perked up again.

"Welp, it's been good! See ya!"
