Background Story

Taro was once an ordinary cat, living freely in the forests of the Wood Territory on the Klein Continent. Curious and playful by nature, he found joy in the beauty of the forest and its creatures. However, his peaceful existence was disrupted when a powerful spiritual disturbance began to spread through the forest. An altar deep within the shrine grounds had become unstable, causing spiritual energy to fluctuate wildly. The once-bustling shrine soon fell into disrepair, with the villagers avoiding it due to the erratic and dangerous spiritual energy surrounding the area.

During this time, Taro's life changed forever. He was inadvertently caught in the crossfire of the altar's instability, and the intense exposure to spiritual energy altered his very essence, transforming him into a yokai. Now in his new form, Taro retained his love for humans and his playful, affectionate personality. However, he became somewhat of an anomaly among the yokai, as most saw humans as beneath them or a threat.

One day, while exploring the abandoned shrine grounds, Taro encountered Huey, the Grand Sorcerer. Huey had come to the Wood Territory with Blade to investigate the instability of the altar, which threatened to corrupt the spiritual energy of the Klein Continent. Taro, who had been lonely due to the lack of visitors to the shrine, was overjoyed to see someone arriving at the place. Huey quickly recognized Taro's unique qualities and decided to claim him for his own, intrigued by his playful nature and the potential he possessed. Huey placed a jewel on Taro's earring, a vessel meant to store Taro's essence and harness his spiritual energy, thus binding Taro to him.

For a time, Taro served Huey faithfully, enjoying the attention and companionship. However, when Huey mysteriously disappeared, Taro felt a deep sense of loss and abandonment. He grew increasingly lonely.

That opportunity came when Eiden, the new Grand Sorcerer, arrived at the shrine. Eiden, tasked with restoring balance to the Klein Continent, encountered Taro while investigating the lingering effects of the unstable altar. Taro, delighted by Eiden's presence, immediately felt a deep connection to him, seeing in Eiden the same light he once saw in Huey. Overwhelmed with joy, Taro eagerly offered his services, referring to Eiden as his Young Master and pledging his unwavering loyalty to him.

Eiden, seeing Taro's potential and touched by his devotion, welcomed him as a new member of his clan. Taro found a renewed sense of purpose in serving Eiden, but his devotion became almost concerning in its intensity. He would often risk his life to protect Eiden, driven by a need to prove his worth and find solace in his newfound role. Though Taro loved visiting Aster's mansion and interacting with the other clan members, he couldn't leave his shrine for too long, as he felt a responsibility to keep the altar stable and ensure the spiritual balance in the Wood Territory.
