Tinkaton Story: Innovations in Gremlin Technology

Your alarm clock rings.
You've been having sleep issues for years.
Thanks to a fucked up sleep schedule due to working night shift once every few weeks.
It's time for you to wake up.
Head hurts, eyes fucked, you just want to go back to sleep.
What time is it?
10AM?
Fuck it, you don't have work today, it's your week-end, just a few more hours of sleep wouldn't hurt now would it.
After another dream, you wake back up.
Nothing changes.
12AM.
Gotta get up eventually.
It would be so much easier if you had something like gym rings hanging down from your ceiling that would pull you up once you grabbed them.
Alas, you just sit to the side of your bed and let gravity do it's work.
Except this time, you just fall down and crash onto the ground.
That actually was a pretty big fall!

"Ow... That's gotta leave a mark..."

It's almost as if your legs didn't respond this time or were still asleep.
One thing is certain, your brain still is asleep.
You walk like a zombie to the door to go to the bathroom.
Bad taste in your mouth.
You're usually in a pretty bad shape when you wake up but this time? That's got to be the worst.
You try to open the door.
Can't find the door handle.

"Huh?"

There's like... Actually no door handle.
And the room is completely black due to the shutters being closed.
You don't really understand what's going on yet, it's almost as if you were going on autopilot.
The good thing is, you don't usually close the door, you just push it enough so it looks closed, so no need to pull on the door handle to open it.
To the bathroom you go.
Washing your face may be enough to fully wake you up.
Then a drink.
Once you get into the bathroom, you don't find the sink either.
Or more like...
It's here but... Taller? Somehow?
Did everything got bigger or did you get smaller?
You can't find the light switch either.

You can feel the sink when trying to reach for it, but it's like you're twice as small now.
Something ain't right.
You can barely reach the sink with your fingers.
But somehow, despite not being really muscular or a gym rat, pulling yourself to the sink feels rather easy.
And when you turn on the light above the mirror...
What the hell!?
That's not you, that's some...
Weird looking pink thingy!
You slap your own face, trying to put your brain back in place.
That was a pretty strong slap, you felt that one quite a bit.
Nothing changes.
Looking at the mirror.
The creature has big creepy silver eyes looking right inside your soul. Two weird teeth looking things on it's mouth.
Pretty large hair-like growths on your... On it's head.
That's got to be a dream, right?
It has to be.
You've heard about those news saying some people are turning into creatures.
Dreams are made of stuff you see or hear throughout the day.
That's got to be the reason, right?
And you being aware of it...
That's what a lucid dream is, right?
Yeah that's it!
A dream, plain and simple!
You've even heard of people claiming they lived years in their dreams due to an altered sense of time.
Could explain that whole situation.
Those unbelievable stories about people and animal turning into characters from a video game.
You try to remember what you did yesterday.
Work... Eat with colleagues. More work. Go back home.
It feels a bit blurry in your head.
In fact, a lot of things feel blurry now.
No other explanations needed, a dream it is!
You look down at yourself.

"Wow, I'm really small now, I can just fit in the sink."

You should panic, but it's just a dream. Although a fairly realistic looking one if we ignore what you see in the mirror. And pretty detailed too.
You touch yourself, you can feel your fingers.
Even if those fingers are light pink, with your finger being as pink as your body, and your hand being fairly large.

It almost looks like you've gained a bit of weight with what seems to be metal on your hips, but that's not accounting for the face you're smaller now.
And... Elephant-like feet? But without toes.
You're like a doll now.
Dreams are fucked up but this? This is something else.
Might as well make good use of it after all! Just think of all the possibilities one could do within a dream! And without consequences too!
But there's something in the back of your mind...
Something like an intrusive voice that tells you something's wrong.
Or more like something's missing...
Food perhaps?
You book it to the kitchen after jumping down from the sink.
Feels weird to walk and see everything from a smaller perspective.
Almost as if you were a kid again.
Inside the fridge, you find...
...

"Yeah of course."

Everything is bigger so most of the good stuff is unreachable.
You're craving some sausage right now, but the problem is, it's on the very TOP SHELF!
And you can't reach it.

"Haha, very funny, I'm laughing my ass off right now."

You go grab a chair.

"Hm?"

It's surprisingly light, you can lift it with a single hand. Even if a chair isn't heavy in itself, a small thing like you should have more trouble lifting it up.
"Yeah, dream logic." you think.
With the added height, you finally reach for the nice smelling snack and bite into it.
More than biting into it, you devour the entire thing, and another!
Now that you're nice and full, you feel something is still missing...
Feels like you should have something with you at all times.
An odd feeling.
What could it be...
Oh and that headache...
It's like someone is putting nails into your skull and hitting them with a...
Hammer.

"Ohhh, that's a good idea!"

You blink a few times and shake your head.
Why made you said that?
Why would you need that sort of stuff? To throw at people?
Why would YOU throw that at people!?
Why why why?
Whywhywhywhywhy?
You slap your face again.
At this rate, your head will fall off.
Are those really strong intrusive thoughts?
It's not really a need to have something with you.
But more like... The need to have a weapon to defend yourself with.
Because the world is hostile and dangerous out there.

Pipe wrench.
Too... Video game.
Combi drill.
Not bad, but the drill bits may break and the battery may run out eventually.
Hacksaw?
What is this, a slasher movie?
Ah, grandpa's hunting rifle, now this could be useful!
Except... It's too big for you to handle properly.
Too bad for you, they don't make them gremlin sized.
A hammer it is then!
Can be swung around, decent blunt instrument and the claw part used to remove nails could be used to stab others with a bit of imagination.
Except, the one you have in your garage is... Well it's a hammer, it's hammer sized.
You remember that news broadcast about that huge metal creature on a rampage.
That hammer isn't going to cut it, you need to improve it somehow.
Lucid dreaming isn't a new experience for you, so you might be able to summon something more fun... Useful to use!
You think about the tool you want to use to defend yourself.
A nice and big hammer.
And then you imagine it waiting for you in your living room!
And when you go there...
Nothing.
"Alright, plan B" you say to yourself.
You imagine a door in your bedroom. With an entirely new room behind that door with your prize waiting for you inside.
You rush to your bedroom...
But still nothing, just your classic bedroom with some shelves and your computer.
"Aw come on, throw me a bone here!" you say, starting to get annoyed by the dream refusing to cooperate with you.
"Fine then." you think. "I'll do it all by myself!"
You're not really a good handyman, but with the power of bullshit and dream magic, you might be able to make it work somehow.
You just need a bunch of steel, but where could you find some...
You check the garage again and check your car.
Dismantling your own car is out of the question, it's your first car and you like it too much to ruin it, even if it's in your head.
Where could you find a large amount of steel...
You don't even notice how such a stupid idea came to your mind to begin with.

You slowly take a peek outside.
Just life as usual in a world where...
What do they call it again?
Fictionalization or something?
A world where people are turning into fantasy creatures.
Ahem, a DREAM world where people are turning into fantasy creatures.
And as a pink gremlin hidden in a bush, needless to say, nobody is going to be alerted by your totally normal presence.
Why do you even need a weapon anyway, this isn't like panic is going to ensue if someone sees you.
...But.
Now where could you find a large amount of stee...
Scrapyard.
Oh that's a good place to be!
You grin and remember there is one at the edge of the city.
Could be some FUN things to find in there.
Problem is, you have to go there first.
On the way, there is a garden near a small local castle, a large river, railroads and a few houses.
The first one might not be dangerous, but the others...
Dangerous?
Why would it be dangerous? Why are you thinking about danger?
You grab your (small) hammer and your combi drill and...
Wait, why do you want to risk getting caught during the day?
You could just wait for night time and not have to deal with people outside.
Time to go back inside the house and be lazy for the rest of the day!
That's what dreams are for!
So, you spend the next 7 hours slouched on the sofa, drinking cola and eating junk food while watching stupid stuff on television.
That's quite a long dream.

Getting through the garden was child's play.

There was a few weird birds on the way, but nothing too threatening.
The bridge over the river though...
Well, a few cars might've spotted you as you were running through it.
Makes you wonder for a brief second what was their reaction.
And that bridge also felt much bigger than before, mostly due to your small legs.
The houses? Thankfully, none of them had guard dogs, that would've been scary if one of them jumped on you while you were going through their backyard.
But here it is! The scrapyard!
Closed down of course, it's getting late, almost midnight.
It's a good thing you took a flashlight with you, there's barely any light in that place.
The gates are closed.
You put your hands in front of you and try to open them with telekinesis...
...But it doesn't work.
"Oh come on, why does nothing works in this dream! Even in Inception they did interesting stuff!" You say to yourself, getting annoyed.
You walk around the scrapyard and spot a wire fence.
You grin and put your hands on the fence, then pull on it.
Surprisingly, you rip it off entirely with minimal effort.
"Ahhh, finally, some dream fun!"
That fence was probably rusty and very old.
Now you have an entire playfield all for yourself, full of steel and metal.
Lots of cars were stored here, even a semi-truck. Most of them were crushed, totaled and generally unusuable.
All of a sudden, the perfect blueprint for a nice hammer comes to your mind.
Large, very large, an axe on top, long handle...
It surprises you how quick you came up with this idea.
Is it the dream doing this? Or something else...
You're not exactly sure why, but you decide to ignore it and go along with the plan.

You scoop around the place, gather a few pieces of scrap metal on a pile, then check a pick-up truck.
Perhaps you could salvage the driveshaft from it.
You try to look under the truck but crawling under it would be pretty inconvenient.
You put your hand on the truck and look under it.
The truck gets pushed back and you fall to the ground.
But when you look around, you see nothing.
You thought something pushed the truck, yet you're alone in this place.
...Was it you?
Dream magic again?
Intrigued, you put your hands under the pick-up truck and try to slightly lift it.
As ridiculous as it sounds, and despite it being really heavy, you somehow manage to slightly lift it.
What the hell!?
Super strength?
You don't know about it because Pokemon is only a thing you played as a kid a long time ago, but if a Tinkaton can lift a 200 pounds steel hammer and very easily swing it around, who knows how much weight they can lift...
You take a deep breath and get a good grip on the truck.
And with all of your force, you flip the damn thing on it's side!
Then, you grab the driveshaft and rip the damn thing off the truck!
You can't help but grin and let out a slightly evil laugh.

"Hehehehe, now this, this is fun!"

With the driveshaft in your hands and a good pile of scrap gathered from nearby vehicles, you grab your small not-amazon basics hammer and start banging on the steel with it.
You're not exactly sure why you're doing it, but it feels good to just smash metal together.
But you feel like it has the potential to craft something good.
With a lot of strength, the steel from the hammer quickly heats up the metal taken from the vehicles.
Also produces a few sparks, but it also does quite the noise.
If you could just heat it up enough so it becomes slightly liquid...
You feel like this is ridiculous, you can't just smash it enough that it just melts without a furnace...
But you can't stop yourself, it just feels good to just bang on that damn metal!
And bang on it...
Bang.
Bang!
BANG!
But that stupid tiny hammer is too weak, and at this rate, the wooden handle will break in your hand.
So you grab a small metal bar and a bit of scrap.
And you smash all of it to make it stick together...
Bang!
Bang!!
Bang!!!
Oh that feels good!
With this makeshift hammer, you can bang on the steel even harder...
BANG!
Why.
BANG!
Are.
BANG!!!
You.
BANG!!!!!
Doing.
BANG!!!!!!!!!
This.
You catch your breath, exhausted, the metal is bright red, extremely hot, almost reaching it's melting point.
Your arms and hands hurt.
This is completely stupid.
Why are you doing this when you could just do something more simple and fun like you always do in your dreams...
And that pain in your arms...
And you being exhausted...
It feels too... Real...
But it's a dream...
Right?

huff huff
You drop the small handmade hammer.
The huge pile of scrap is bright red and smoking.
It's so hot, it even lights up the area around it.
Just need to let it cool off now.
You walk a few meters and sit down on the ground, exhausted and out of breath.
You feel a wave of relief as you finally get a break after that intense workout.
Which is surprising since you were never really into sports or physical activities.
In almost an instant, your brain goes from 200% to 0%.
And you quickly fall asleep.
...
But while you're asleep, a few blue flashing lights illuminates the area.
Then flashlights.
It looks like someone has been alerted by your presence.
Quite the understatement, in fact, hour roided up caveman behavior has woken up the entire neighbourhood with all that noise.
Two men in police uniform are investigating the scene and shines their flashlights on you.
"Is that one of those things? Looks weird." Says one of the officers.
They quickly equip face masks. Just in case your contagious.
"Looks like a... Little girl creature. And it seems asleep. What do we do? We can't just arrest it for trespassing can we?" Says the other, a taser in hand.
"I'm gonna be real with you, I have no damn clue. And it's not like the CDC would be useful, they have like... Mountains of work right now so, y'know."
The duo slowly and quitely walks towards you and begins to take a close look while whispering to each other.

">What about animal control?" Says the clueless taser dude.

"Dude, I really have no clue. I don't think they'd want to risk it with a potentially dangerous beast. They're like scared shitless these days."
The first policeman takes a few seconds to think about what to do next.
"I guess we could stick it in the car and keep it at the station until the CDC has time for it?" The officer says.
"Alright."
"If it tries to bite, you tase it!"

The two officiers carefully pick you up and carries you to the back of the police car, trying to not wake you up.
But once you get sat in the car and the door closes, you wake up.
You feel kinda dizzy, a bit disoriented and wondering where you are.
A car?
There is a large glass separating the back seats and the front seats.
And those lights outside.
Police car?
Did you get arrested?
You think you might be in trouble.
The two policemen are still outside.
Oh this won't do!
You remove the seat belt and try to open the door.
But obviously, you can't open it from inside.
As the two officers check for more Pokemon around the area, a metallic noise coming from the car alerts them.
And they witness you straight up ripping the car door out if it's hinges.
And that door is armored too.
"Jesus fucking christ, tase it!" Screams one of the officers, panicked by the display of strength you just did.
The other struggles to take his taser in noth of his hands.
But you just happily walk back towards the pile of scrap with your happy Tinkaton face, ignoring the officers entirely.
The duo looks confused.
And there it is, the fruit of your labor.
The scrap cooled down and looks now like a perfectly normal Tinkaton hammer.
You grin and grab the handle and raise the 200+ pounds weapon with little effort.
Then begin to swing it around, not being affected by the inertia at all.
The officers briefly look at each other, their mouth agape seeing you casually lifting off such a heavy item with ease.
Your eyes shine towards them as you turn your head in their direction.
"Let's fuck off." One says.
"Agreed." Says the other.
And they begin to run away as quick as they can, screaming for backup in their radio.
As you walk with your brand new weapon on your shoulder, you go towards a car that has been sitting here for a while.
And you SMASH IT with your hammer, flattening it entirely.
"This is where the fun begins!" You say, happy with your craft.

You wake up to the nice and annoying sound of your phone alarm.
Your mattress feels... Harder than usual.
But it's not exactly a bad sensation. If anything, it's betters, feels like a massage.
You try to reach for your phone, but... It's not here.
You turn your head.
Why is your shelves so close to your bed?
You turn your head to the other side.
Why is your... Bed here?
You look at your hand.
Pink.

"Oh."

You're sleeping on the hammer.
Still in a dream?
This is really like Inception now.
That's... Odd.
And why did you sleep on that ha... Your hammer?
You decide to brush it off.
Time to turn on the computer and check for news.
...
Oh right, you can't really reach the keyboard now.
You raise your office chair height and turn on the computer.
You decide to go to your favorite imageboard, /v/.
...Oh.
Oh god.
There is a nuke siren sound effect playing on the catalog
And a pinned thread with a picture of Chris-chan that says "THE MERGE IS ON!"
Pictures of Vegeta kneeling saying "I KNEEL"
Half of the threads have a picture of Chris that says "APOLOGIZE"
One saying: "Imagine living in a world with people turning into Pokemon and you're still stuck as a human" with a picture of Sonichu attached.
You decide to not go to your favorite imageboard today.
/x/ is doomposting.
/pol/ is /pol/
And you can't even begin to imagine what's being posted on /b/ and /trash/ right now.
...
You decide to go grab a snack.

A few conveniently placed boards around the wired fences of your home...
The tall hedge making sure no one sees you from the street...
And ta-da, you just made the perfect dream training spot, 100% secure and without anyone being able to see you!
Except the flying birds in the sky.
Fuck them birds.
It's time for you to try out what you can and can't do in this dream.
First, trying to fly!
Mankind already dreamed to fly, and you're in a dream, so surely you can fly!
You get on your hammer and... JUMP!
...And you land on the ground.
So you do it again and...
Land on the ground.
You let out a groan of frustration.
Alright, now it's time to... Breathe... Fire?
You breathe in as much as you can...
And... EXHALE!
So much that you start to cough once your lungs are completely empty.
Nothing but air came out.

"Fuck!"

"Fuck this" you think before grabbing your hammer.
You take a decently sized log of wood with one of your free hand and place it on the ground.
Super strength test!
You raise the 200+ pounds steel hammer over your head and SMASH THAT DAMN LOG WITH IT!
The impact is so strong, you get lifted off the ground!
Gigaton Hammer.

"Oh."

The log of wood is now buried into the ground.

"Health authorities are still clueless about the current epidemic affecting the country. No one is really sure where it originates from, or why it turns people and animals into creatures from the video game franchise "Pokemon". For now, no traces of viruses or any bacterial infection have been found on the people tested. The government is talking about shutting down airports and closing borders."
The woman on the news broadcast seems a bit concerned about the situation.
"Now onto local news, police received a report that a burglary took place during last night at a supermarket in [Insert city name here], the perpetrator seemed to be one of those previously mentioned Pokemon and entered the supermarket by blowing up a hole in a wall. Strangely enough, the only items stolen were food items and a booster seat. The suspect stays unidentified but seems to be of a relatively short size..."
"Heh, I sure hope they don't think it's me because I'm also short." You say before shutting off the television.
It's been three days now.
Must be like Inception, trapped within a dream or... Something?
Feels concerning.
But the little voice in your head tells you it's okay and you should just have fun!
Which is exactly what you're going to do!
Now, traveling during the day and on foot with this appearance might not be the best idea.
If only you could use your car...
But you're too short now, you can't even see the road while sitting on the driver seat, let alone reach the pedals!
Maybe you could just... Find a way to reach the pedals with your tiny little feet?
The good thing about having strong arms and hands that can lift a 200+ pounds hammer is that you can also... Bend steel bars.
So, with a few conveniently crushed objects you didn't need...
And some more crushing and heating up metal to solder them together...
You just made stilts and fixed them to the gas, brake and clutch pedal!
How clever you are.

And with this booster seat you acquired recently, you can now sit on the driver seat, reach the pedals and drive your car as a small pink gremlin!
Now where are you going to store your hammer...
On the roof?
No, it'll fall down.
Fuck it, in the trunk it goes.
You lower the back seats and carefully place your nice hammer in.
The suspensions are not really liking this.
You're all set, time to go outside!
What could possibly go wrong?

Good news!
You don't have to go to work today!
Turns out, your boss isn't too happy about letting a walking health hazard walking around the workplace.
Because nobody knows if you're contagious or not.
And this isn't accounting for the multiple OSHA(wott) violations you might cause by carrying that giant hammer around.
So fortunately, you are exempt for work for the time being.
Would suck to have to go to work during a dream...
At least your coworkers are talking about you now.
Gee, the weirdo turned into some pink gremlin with a... Huge hammer?
How is he lifting this thing?
Why pink?
The policeman that just stopped you is not really convinced of your story.
And besides, you are being stopped because your car looks like it's doing a wheelie.
Plus the whole Pokemon thing.
And the pedals.
Obviously, it's going to be a pain in the ass to identify you with your ID and driver's license.
At least you're not underage.
You think it would be fun to try and reach for the officer's gun.
...Maybe another time.
Due to... Unique circumstances, the officer is okay with letting you go.
Not like he could've stopped you.
His decision might've been influenced by seeing you casually lift the impossibly heavy hammer before saying "Nope, fuck this, ain't paid enough for that shit."
People are aware of your existence now.
But it's still a dream after all.
