Wild West CYOA

Last week you received a telegram informing you that your older brother out west had been found dead and that in his will, he had left you his ranch. You were sick of working at the docks and sleeping in a cramped apartment in the city, so you packed your things, bid your parents and siblings farewell, and boarded the next train to out west. Two days and 4 connections later, you finally arrive in Fort Furston. As a canine porter unloads your luggage for you, you take in a view of the town. Ft. Furston is a moderately sized settlement, mainly serving as a rail hub where cattle ranchers could load up their cattle to be sent to the slaughterhouses back east. It has everything you would expect of a modern town: a bank, a bar, a hotel and some local businesses, and even a theatre. Some of the roads closer to the train station are even paved. After getting your bags, you walk over to the hotel and rent a room for the night. Your brother's farm is located further out near a town called Cattle's Stead, so tomorrow you'll need to buy a horse and ride over there to legally take ownership of the property. For now though, you can relax. The sun won't set for a few hours, so there's plenty you can still do today.

Back in the city, you never owned many things thanks to your low wages and lack of space. You only needed a single steamer trunk to pack your belongings. Inside the trunk, there is your blanket, a few sets of clothes, a framed photograph of your family, some books you bought for the trip, a few hundred dollars you were able to save up, and the single action revolver you purchased from a gun store back in the city, along with some ammunition and a holster. You take out the holster and affix it to your waist, load your revolver and place it inside its resting place by your hip. After checking yourself out in the mirror, you leave your room and head downstairs out of the hotel. As you've previously noted before, Ft. Furston is a rather large town, with many business establishments catering to the ranchers and railroad workers who routinely visit the settlement. It seems to be doing very well economically, with the main street being paved with stone and lined with electric streetlamps. It's late afternoon, so the bank is already closed, but you can see that the theatre is still open, as well as the bar and a few restaurants. Further down, in the more run down part of town, you can see a whorehouse advertising "The Best Anthro Entertainers in the County".

You decide to spend your evening watching a play at the theatre. You pay the ticketman the two dollar entry fee and take your seat. Tonight's showing is set in the age of knights and olde, and starts with a humble human guard getting promoted as the guard captain of his town. Meanwhile, a viscious band of wild anthro bandits, led by a fiendish scheming fox, arrive in the area and begin terrorizing the populace, murdering traders and burning down farms. Naturally the new Captain tries to stop them, killing some of bandits, but with their vulpine leader scurrying back into the forest whenever he senses the tide turning. The story reaches its climax when the gang kidnaps a vixen noblewoman and tries to hold her for ransom, leading to the captain leading his men to storm the criminals forest hideout, and rescue the maiden. After a short but intense duel, the noblewoman is saved, and the bandit leader is hung while the Captain and vixen kiss. As the actors bow, you leave the theatre feeling entertained. It's dark now, but there is still a few hours until midnight.

You haven't eaten since yesterday evening and your stomach is running on fumes. Thankfully there is still one restaurant open at this hour, an establishment by the name of Jeremiah's Saloon. A stocky mustachioed human male, presumably Jeremiah, stands behind the bar counter polishing a glass. "Coming in for a drink, or you want something to eat?", he asks you. "I'd like some food, please" you reply. "Make yourself comfortable at any table. Dinah will be with you in just a minute." Sitting down at an unoccupied table, you observe the interior of the restaurant while waiting for your server. The dining hall is mostly empty at this hour, with a few patrons still lingering at the bar, and a card game going on in one of the booths near the back. A well-endowed orange vixen wearing a frilly blue gown walks over to your table, holding a menu in her hand. "Hi, I'm Dinah, I'll be serving you tonight. What can I get for you?" You look over the menu for a moment, and decide to order a beef stew, along with a bottle of whiskey. She leaves, and returns a minute later with your booze. Ten minutes later, your stew arrives, which you quickly consume. "Would you like anything for desert?", Dinah asks, taking away your empty bowl. You decide to order a nice peach cobbler to finish off the meal. As you dig in, the vixen returns, strutting seducingly towards you. "Is there anything else I can do to please you, sir? Maybe I can give you some milk to go with your cobbler? Or perhaps something more... personal, a dance maybe?"

"Some milk to wash this cobbler down would be nice" you answer. "You want a glass, or straight from the tap?" Dinah asks, cupping her breasts. "Tap, please." The vixen smiles as she begins pulling down the top of her gown, exposing her large breasts. She cups one of her mammaries and leans in closer to your face, beckoning you to drink. You oblige and begin sucking on them, and your efforts are soon rewarded with foxmilk beginning to flow into your mouth. As the creamy and slightly sweet liquid gushes down your throat, Dinah adjusts her body so she is sitting on your lap facing you. When you suck her first teat dry, she grabs her other breast and places it in your mouth, allowing you to continue to feed. Soon, both teats are completely emptied of breastmilk. The saloon girl gets up, readjusts her boobs back into her gown, and sticks out her palm. You fish around in your pocket for a moment, then pull out some coins to pay for the meal, as well as a tip for excellent service. "Thanks for stopping by Jeremiah's, hopefully I'll see you come again real soon" she giggles, then walks back into the kitchen. You leave the restaurant and walk back to your hotel room. You walk in and flop onto the bed before turning out the lights.

You wake up the next morning to the sound of roosters crowing. You get out of bed and wash up, then walk out of the hotel towards the stables on the outskirts of town. A human man is leaning outside smoking, while a scrawny male mutt is carrying a bundle of hay inside. The man notices you walking towards you. "What do you want?" he grunts. "Well, I was hoping to purchase a horse, and this place seems to be the place for that." The man grunts, then yells inside the barn. "Baxter! Get out here!" The mutt comes sprinting out of the barn. "Yes sir, Mr. Crowley?" Crowley gestures towards you. "Show this gentleman here our horses." "Yes Mr. Crowley. Right this way sir." You follow after the dog. "We currently have 3 mares right now, all of them very well-trained and well-tempered" the dog says. He points to a brown-furred Quarter horse standing about 7 feet tall. "This here is Cinnamon. She's fast, good for riding. She can pull a wagon, but not very well. If you want a dedicated wagon-puller, we got Helga over here." He gestures towards an 8 foot-tall Belgian Draft horse sitting on a pile of hay. "Her previous owner had her plowing fields and pulling produce to market, but he had to sell her, on account of leaving for some family problems back east." He walks by a tan Kentucky Saddler snoozing on some hay. "This is Hot Sugar. She used to be a racehorse until she had an accident six months ago. She did eventually heal, but her owner was an impatient man and decided to cut his losses rather than wait for her wounds to heal. She still runs fast in spite of that." With that, Baxter turns back to face you. "So sir, which one do you want?"

You walk over to the Quarter Horse named Cinnamon. She's a young mare currently standing in the nude, with a somewhat athletic build and perky breasts. Standing a little over 7 and half feet tall in height, she is still taller than most humans, but shorter than the other horses on sale. Her black mane has been done into a pony-tail, while her tale swings freely and naturally. She looks at you with hopeful amber eyes. "How old are you, Cinnamon?" you inquire. "I turned 20 two weeks ago sir" she nervously replies. "Have you ever been ridden before?" "Only while I was still being trained." "Do you reckon you could do farm work like pulling a plow?" She nods her head. "I'm sure I could sir." "And you wouldn't complain if I had you carry heavy loads?" "Absolutely not, sir." "Could you do a little spin for me?" She slowly spins around, showing off her strong back and shapely round behind. You think it over for a minute, then turn to Baxter. "How much?" "For her? A hundred dollars." "I'll take her." The mutt smiles and nods. "Excellent choice sir. I'll go get the deed ready as well as your complimentary horse tack." With that, the dog walks out of the stable, leaving you and the mare alone together. Cinnamon whinnies happily. "Thank you for buying me Master. I won't disappoint you." You reach out your hand and pat her on the head. "I'm sure you won't Cinnamon." She seems to enjoy your headpats. Baxter soon returns carrying your free equipment in his arms, as well as a folded piece of paper in his shirt pocket. "Alright, sir, if you're all ready, we can finish the transaction at the table near the front." You pull out a hundred dollars from your wallet, hand it over to the dog, and sign your name on the deed. With that, Baxter shakes your hand. "Alright sir, Cinnamon is now officially yours. Would you like me to attach the tack for you, or would you prefer to do it yourself?" "No thank you", you politely decline, "I'm planning on going back to my hotel room to get my things, I can do it then. Besides it shouldn't be too hard, I've seen other folk do it before back home." You motion for Cinnamon to come over and pick up her gear. As the two of you walk out of the stables, Mr Crowley is waiting to greet you. "Just before you go, I should probably let you know that there's a store near the train station that sells clothes for horses, so your mare doesn't have to run around with her lady parts all exposed. Just tell the owner that Crowley sent you, he'll give you a good price. Or you could just keep her in the nude, plenty of guys do that too."

You decide you'd rather not have the entire male population of Fort Furston ogling your new property. "Thanks for the advice, Mr. Crowley, we'll head over there right now." Crowley flashes a toothy grin beneath his unkempt mustache. "Don't mention it mister. You just have a good time with that new mare of yours." You grab Cinnamon's hand. "Come on Cinnamon, let's go get you dressed up." The walk to the store isn't far. Just like Crowley said, it's located about a block away from the train station. The signage on the front of the building reads "Abbott's Custom Equine Tailor". Inside the store, a balding man with glasses appears to be scribbling down notes behind the counter when he hears the bell ring and sees the two of you walk in. He immediately stops what he is doing and greets you cheerfully. "Welcome to Abbott's Custom Equine Tailor, the number one clothing store for horses in the state! How can I help you today?" "Hi, I just purchased Cinnamon here from the stables in town, and now I need some clothes for her to wear" you explain. "Mr. Crowley recommended you." "Did he now? It's always good when local businesses support each other, keeps the community strong. Now, what kind of clothes are you looking for your mare?" "Well, I plan on having her do farm work most of the time, so some durable work clothes would be great." Abbott grins. "Our mare's work-clothes are in the back. If you find anything you like, bring it back to the counter and I'll ring it up. Changing room is to the right." You take Cinnamon over to the indicated section and begin browsing. You find a nice work outfit for her to wear consisting of a button-down flannel shirt, denim shorts, and leather chaps. In addition, you also grab a buckskin jacket for it gets cold, as well as some panties and extra work shirts. After sending her to the changing room to get herself dressed, you both return to the counter. "Will that be all?" Abbott asks. "Yep, I think that's about it. How much?" "Normally, I'd charge $60 for everything here, but since Crowley sent you, I'll make it only $55." You slide the bills over the counter and lead Cinnamon out of the store. "Have a nice day!" Abbott waves as you leave. You lead Cinnamon back to the hotel and up the stairs to your room, depositing the horse tack and spare clothes on top of your steamer trunk. You flop onto the bed and ponder your next move while Cinnamon sits in a chair by the window. You could pack up and set off for the ranch now, reaching it by the time night falls. Or you could try out Cinnamon, and wait until tomorrow morning to leave.

You decide you don't want to pay for another night and prepare to set off for the ranch. Cinnamon helps you pack her spare clothes into your trunk. Now it's time for the horse tack. You order Cinnamon to sit on top of the bed, so you can help her put on her gear. You pick up the saddle and inspect it. It's a fairly common design, with a leather harness wrapping around the torso and over the shoulders, a stiff back brace for protection of the spine, with padded cushioning on the straps and along the brace for the horse's comfort. The leather rider's seat is positioned perpendicular to the back for a piggyback style ride, and are attached to the back brace with nuts and bolts. Underneath the seat are straps used for securing luggage. The stirrups are attached to the bottom of the harness, next to where the horse's legs would be. You help Cinnamon slip on the harness and straps, and then tighten the nuts and bolts with a wrench. Next you slip the bridle onto the her head, and adjust it until she's comfortable with it. Finally, you place the bit inside her mouth and attach each end of the reins to the rings, and let them rest on top of the saddle seat. With the tack assembled, Cinnamon is finally ready to be ridden. You strap the steamer trunk to the bottom of the seat, making sure it's secure, and lead your mare out of the hotel. Once you are outside, Cinnamon kneels down, allowing you to mount her. You get your feet into the stirrups and grab the reins, and with a simple "Heeyah", you finally set off for your late brother's ranch.

The ride to the ranch takes about 4 hours on horseback, including the half-hour the two of you stopped to have some lunch by the side of the road. By the time you arrive, it's already starting to get dark. The ranch consists of a large two-story plain wooden house, a red barn, a grain silo, and a smaller wooden building near the main house. A wooden fence surrounds the entire property, while a smaller fence encloses one side of the barn. A small vegetable garden sits next to the entrance of the main house. As you ride past the outer fence and approach the house, a female border collie in a blue dress runs out of the building aiming a double-barreled shotgun at you. "You too stay right where you are! No funny business!" she barks. You and Cinnamon both slowly raise your arms in surrender. "Who are you and what are you doing out here?" the dog asks. "The owner of this ranch is John Mous?" you ask. "That's right" the Collie replies. "Well I'm Anon, his younger brother. I received a telegram last week about his death. I've come to inherit the ranch as per his will." The dog hesitates, then slowly lowers her gun. "You're Anon Y. Mous? You're the new master?" "Yes, like I just said, I've come here to take ownership of the ranch." The Collie's mood shifts instantly. "Oh my goodness, I am so sorry! It's just that we've had a lot of scum skulking about the past week looking for things to steal, everyone here's been on edge. Please forgive me!" "It's fine, don't worry about it" you say as you dismount from your saddle. "Please come in and let me help you get settled, my name is Abby by the way." "Nice to meet you Abby, this here is Cinnamon" you reply, patting Cinnamon on the head and leading her into the house following after Abby.

"The others are away in town buying supplies, but they should be back in a few hours," Abby says as you enter the farmhouse. The entrance leads into a relatively spacious living room with a couch and a few chairs facing a stone fireplace, and a piano and a cabinet on the other side of the room. "John had that piano shipped in from all the way back east. Every Sunday evening, we would push the furniture to the side, and he would play it while we all danced to his music" Abby reminisces. Opposite of the living room is the dining room, with a table large enough to seat 10 people along with a large, well-stocked kitchen. "Bertha usually does the cooking, she knows how to make a fine stew, I promise you." On the other side of the house is a hallway leading to a storage room and a large bedroom with several beds, divided by curtains hanging from the ceiling. "Most of the girls sleep in the barn, but some of us, myself included, are lucky enough to get to sleep here in the house." Upstairs is the master bedroom and the study. Inside the master bedroom is a king-size bed with nightstands on either side, as well as a dresser and a closet.

"Well that's about it for the tour", Abby says. "I'll go and let you unpack, the others should be back in about an hour, and I'll introduce you to them then. Afterwards, we can have dinner." With that, the border collie exits the room, leaving you and Cinnamon alone in the bedroom. After helping Cinnamon to take off her gear, you begin unpacking your luggage. It doesn't take too long, considering you packed so lightly for the trip. You glance at the clock mounted on the wall. You still have half-an-hour left before the other workers get back.
