Winter Melancholy
Looking out the window
The fields painted white
Cold, crunchy, yet soft
Snow for miles, a pure cool sight
First snow, it's so much fun
Play around, shovel a ton
Make a snowman, stick out your tongue
A pleasing memory, excitement lasts with the sun
Second time, it is pleasing
Cold, fun, and a new memory etched into my brain
Yet now it starts to change
The white is starting to look plain
Each year, more passes by
Colder, I feel colder
The white starts to feel very plain
Smile fades into one longing for those hot and humid days
Sitting on the bed, wrapped up in warm thick blankets
Empty mug on the desk
On the floor lies a pile of mess
Half empty pill bottle to numb out the emotional pain
Fields of snow
Glimmering beneath the sunlight,
Why must you be so beautiful yet bring me such a melancholy?
Your coolness makes me feel cold, isolated
Yet you are billions gathered together
I am one
You make me feel alone
Cold, distant, and lonely
A small smile
Hide that sadness with a bit of jolly
Yet that blissful happiness merely lasts so much
And so I return to that same melancholy
When will you pass?
I don't want to slip and fall into that icy despair
I do not want that avalanche of depression to bury me
I do not want to be blinded and hit by that blizzard of emotional stress and mess
You're so pretty and cold
I don't like that
I would rather have you be ugly and warm
Like me
I know you're temporary;
Merely a season in a year
Out of the four seasons, winter is the most depressing
I love the aesthetic beauty, not the emotionally-draining part
I can't wait for spring
I miss that blooming warmth
Yet as usual, it won't last
And we will be back to this endless cycle yet again
