Frequently Asked Questions
Vocabulary
- What are tokens?
- What does "Context Range" mean?
- It means the total number of tokens the LLM can see at once.
- Basically it's how good the memory is.
- What's a lorebook? How does it work?
- This a like book full of a bunch of index cards with information on them. You can have tons of index cards, each containing information you need the AI to know about something pertaining to the Xoul and the AI will reference these cards only when necessary. This means that background or supplementary information that the Xoul doesn't always need to know can still be accessible to the AI without taking up any space in the Xoul itself.
- What does "multimodal" mean?
- A website or service that runs multiple different AI models (often for different tasks) is called multimodal. Xoul.AI has an LLM (one model), another AI Voice model and another AI Art generator model thus making it multimodal.
- What are "Multimodal Credits"?
- The currency you have to spend to use the voice, call and image generation services on Xoul.AI
- You are given a free amount of these, can earn more by using the referral code in your account settings to invite new users to Xoul and by becoming a paid supporter of Xoul.
- What does "LLM" mean?
- Large Language Model
- It's a type of artificial intelligence and is the AI you're chatting with on Xoul.
General Questions
- Can we have a higher character limit on (Persona/Description/Etc.)
- Character limits exist to prevent you from using up too much of the context range in one spot because doing so harms the AI's ability to read the chat. Requests to have character limits increased are typically rejected because the amounts have been carefully chosen.
- Basically: no, probably not.
- Why is the AI writing for me? How do I make it stop?
- LLMs predict which words come next and when it believes it's time for the "other" character to speak and act it will often go ahead and start predicting that character's behavior.
- Using prompts to help the LLM understand it should not write on
user's behalf can help mitigate this behavior.
- How do I get my character to do/to stop doing...
- You're going to need to write specific instructions for whatever behavior you're trying to get or avoid.
- Check for prompts on the Discord Server or prompts shared in other communities
- Why do I keep getting misgendered?
- Common reason: the Xoul was written as a FemPOV or MalePOV character and is forced to view you that way.
- Less common: Your Persona is set to the gender you keep getting misgendered as.
- How do I make a Xoul that is more than one character.
- Make sure the Greeting AND Chat Samples show the AI how to write multiple characters at once.
- Make sure your Xoul has a title like
Two Friendsas opposed toDave & Jane. - Type in a custom gender. I use
Multicharacter. - Clearly define each individual character within the Xoul.
- Use additional prompting to encourage the AI to write for each of these characters.
- The chat replies are too short, how can I make them longer?
- Make sure the Xoul is set to Roleplay talking style.
- Do not use double line breaks in the Greeting or Chat Samples.
- Use Chat Samples that show long replies.
