Custom Dye Slots for Undyable Gear

By Nasrin

This guide is for making both undyable gear or single dyable gear have dual dye slots.

To start, you will need the following:

  • Penumbra
  • Glamourer

In Glamourer, select the gear you wish to modify (for this tutorial I will primarily use the Postmoogle Cap)
In Penumbra, make a new mod, name it and enable it, then go to Advanced Editing.
In Advanced Editing, go to the Import from Screen tab.
In the Import from Screen tab, open the gear you wish to modify and import the Material.

Now, go to the Materials tab, and select the material you just imported.
Open the Color Table menu and tick Dyable (if it isn't already).
I suggest making the preview dye different than the base color (for example, the Postmoogle Cap is naturally Indigo, so I will make it red and green.)

Here's where the fun begins, hover over the crosshairs on the left side of the Color Table to highlight that specific part.
In our case, the main parts of the Postmoogle Cap is 2A.
Note: If you play Miqo'te (or other races with ear covers) you will need to find the ear cover part (which is 5B for the Postmoogle Cap).
What you'll want to do is click the space to the right of the Diffuse and Specular color boxes to make a paint bucket icon appear.
On the right hand side of the Color Table, you will see the number 0 (zero), select the number you think looks best, in our case, we going with 100.

To add a second dye channel, take where it says 1 (next to the 100 in the above pic) and set it to 2.

Sometimes, you don't want to use 100, because the part you want to dye has multiple colors, like for instance, the Scorpion Harness.
If that is the case, you might want to use 101, HOWEVER, sometimes, that will look bad, so use your best judgement, and select the one that looks best.

Once you are done, click Save to File, and close out of the Advanced Editing window.
Open Glamourer again, and test it with dyes.
If you've followed this guide correctly, it should look like this:
