Hoshi Kendo, Rin Ikeda and Katsuo Kimura were all friends. Rin and Hoshi were friends since middle school and Katsuo was their friend since they were 1st years at Yumenosaki Academy. They were all under Knights as their juniors but due to Hoshi being bullied a ton all 3 of them decided to leve and created Chivalry, they also soon picked up 2 first years Akio Shimizu and Haruki Sazaki. Hoshi had adopted a new personality at the time called the 'King' persona or just king, becoming colder and more distant than his happy self. They recieved a ton of backlash from Knights fans for being so similar and that was the final breaking point for Hoshi, which led to his collapse and complete breakdown. He disappeared for half his second year and that was why he was held back, no one knew what he did for all that time he was gone and he was known as nothing but a victim to the idol fanbase. But, Chivalry had worked hard to hold up their unit again in hopes of salvaging their king's lost and broken dream to act as a way to call him back.
There are other people who were held back like Arata and Hinako, so they're restarting their 2nd year. They were absent for half of their second year. Arata had left due to his father pulling him out of school and forcing Arata to join him on his journey to a convention where he met Shu Itsuki who decided to make him his student for unspecified reasons. During his disappearance, Hinako did not want to participate in idol activities without Arata therefore disappearing as well and leaving their last member, Asahi without anyone putting MACH!NERY on hiatus. When Arata came back, Akane Kiyama one of the 'Phantoms' told Arata about his title and rumors of him being an Eccentric which dangers his unit. He and Hinako made the tough choice to kick Asahi out which led to Asahi disappearing to, thinking he wasn't good enough for their unit almost quiting being an idol all together.
Yumenosaki has a group called 'The Phantoms' who are known to be a mysterious group of people that leave traces of their existence but are never there. The only known Phantoms are Hoshi, he writes on the walls and was discovered by Tsukasa. And Akane who leaves notes of information and only contacting face to face with those who deserve it. The other phantoms was a thief who always stole something from students who stayed late, and the other was someone who was said to be climbing through the vents. Everyone thought it was Mayoi at first but after he graduated and that prescence stayed they concluded its someone else.
There are still other popular units such as CYB3R who had 2 members, Matsuru Tomozaki and Ikuyo Tomozaki. Matsuru had left after hearing about Akane and the rumors around him about being an Eccentric. He took Akane to join his unit, Fantasia and later on recruited Hiroki Shun.
Another popular unit was Morte. They operated as a 3 person unit between Inei Ōtsuka, Katashi Koyama and Tenjin Shino. Inei was a obvlious to the rumors that surrounded him and later recruited Hikaru Sazaki.
Kaito Suzuki worked as a solo idol for his 1st year to the dismay of the council and later on went to recruit others to join his unit Phantom.Thief while also knowing about the rumors, avoiding them hoping their false.
During the start of the new year Hoshi had came back but started a new unit with Tanami Hasumi, Shxwtime. He pretended he was completely different from the person who went through the bullying in Knights juniors and created Chivalry but he could never keep it up for long in front of ny of the people he stuck close to.
During this Hayaki Maeda, a first year was also recruited into Shxwtime. And a new unit had risen, Wonderland, led by Asahi who picked himself up thanks to Haruno Hirose to face off against MACH!NERY. 2 others were in his unit to, Aiki Hirano and Hotaka Ogawa.
As the year begins new producers flood into the school and they get assigned to their units. Kuni Isara had a strange meeting with Hoshi as he kidnapped her out of interest without knowing she was their newly assigned producers. Other producers included, Koneko Kikuchi, Akari Hashimoto, Mari Aoki, Himura Mizuki, Rika Nomura, Ikumi Hirano and Kazuki Murata.
La Vie, a unit consisting of Hatsu Ishikawa, Seina Oukawa, Wakumi Kaneko and Seiko Taniguchi had quickly risen to becoming Yumenosaki Academy's top unit. Along with TAKE AIM following behind them. There was an agreement between the two units that Isamu Shimada would follow whatever Hatsu asks him to do due to having blackmail on him. And with their rise to fame, Hatsu finally put his plan into motion starting Yumenosaki Academy's 2nd War.
The Eccentric rumors created havoc across Yumenosaki. Inei was left with despair with these rumors surronding him not knowing what to do. Kaito had disappeared again to think about where he should go from here. Ayumu was slowly being casted out of his unit, and Haruya Eichiro seemed to notice that to and comfort him. Arata was sort of prepared for this, he just hoped he prepared for enough for what was ahead of him. Matsuru was also ready for this but he wasn't as sure of what was ahead of him but had some confidence due to having Akane with him.
La Vie would later take on the current student council's unit, Syndicate, led by Naoko Adachi. La Vie did manage to win, rendering his announcement for a new era. And those who were on his side were to state their loyalty, and the Eccentrics would all be 'executed'. The current student council was also silenced by Hatsu's powerful family.
Some units decided not to get involved, like Embers and Castle of Cards. They decided it would just be a mess for them who are still trying to make their mark, but might change their mind later on.
After that announcement, La Vie seemed to remain quiet but other units weren't. The first unit that claimed to be on Hatsu's side was Chivalry. They despised how some of these units, Morte and Fantasia were similar to units in ES but did not recieve any backlash for it and used this war as a perfect oppurtunityy to get back at them. Another unit joining Hatsu's side would be RainbowZ.
Some units had conflict between the members, like ASTR☆L. They casted out Ayumu from their unit and later on kicked him out. Haruya followed with him not wanting to leave Ayumu alone due to his strange nature of sleeping a lot and how badly he might react to this. The other two members were left and operated as a 2 person unit for the time being. Meanwhile Ayumu and Haruya did not seem to do anything, seemingly disappearing.
After a while, La Vie started moving again. They had challenged Fantasia to a battle of the bands starting the first executions and Arata feared this challenge. He belived La Vie was too much for Fantasia to handle and they would lose easily. And yes, in the end they did lose. They even had some technical difficulties, watching all his hard work fall apart. This was the first victory of Hatsu.
Wonderland, despite their leader being against Arata, Asahi thought that all of this was wrong. And thus sided with the Eccentrics which surprised Arata. Wonderland was quickly forced into a battle of the bands and they were unprepared, humiliating them as well. This was the final straw for Arata, who had been trying to hold himself together during this entire war but he had finally snapped. Claiming the only way to beat Hatsu in this war was through being perfect. He was so encapsulated by the idea of perfect he lost himself. No one had dared to even try to break him out. Asahi only resented that he couldn't be strong enough if only he and his unit were better maybe he wouldn't be like this.
Shxwtime was collapsing as well. Tanami and Hoshi had a fight, where Tanami shouted at the other who didn't seem to treat this war seriously, as if it's all a game. Prompting Hoshi to run and disappear from Yumenosaki. Tanami resented how he acted and would refuse to talk to anyone until Hoshi came back, locking himself away. Leaving Kuni and Hayaki alone to try and understand this situation.
It was quite still for a while as the others didn't know what to do. The Eccentrics had gone into a hiding and Arata was still losing himself and keeping him and Hinako only in the practice rooms where they would practice for hours on end.
Hatsu would notice this stand still in movement with the Eccentrics believing that they've given up and thinking maybe he won. But he took note of MACH!NERY who he heard rumors about.
Hoshi would only hang around Knights for the time being as he felt comfort in them, and that they'd respect him. He did not want to believe they'd be like Tanami who shouted at him. And Tsukasa would notice that Hoshi stayed for longer and more frequently than he did before. Looking gloomy instead of his usual bright aura. Tsukasa would ask him what's wrong but Hoshi would only huff claiming he's not ready to talk yet.
Tanami on the other hand locks himself in his room contemplating what he'd done. Tanami knew Hoshi would react bad if the person he placed his trust in the most were to suddenly shout at him, the one thing Hoshi feared. While he sat there, Keito had noticed Tanami's odd behavior and would question him about school and Tanami would not answer. Since Keito knew his unitmates, he had met Hoshi in ES to ask him about Tanami's behavior and is also shocked to see Hoshi sad to and didn't seem to talk either. Keito went to his last choice, Kuni Isara, Mao's little sister who was Shxwtime's producer and asked her what was wrong with Tanami and Hoshi. She answered him and telling Keito about the entire war and fight they had. Keito was of course shook to hear that and kept asking more questions. He finally decided to act like a proper older brother and talk to him. While it didn't prove useful at first since they had a strained relationship from the start. Tanami couldn't help but accept his brother's worry as he needed an outlet to let put his feelings and was finally happy to be noticed by the other. Thanks to Keito's words, Tanami picks himself back up to talk to Hoshi.
On the other hand, Hoshi finally talks to Tsukasa, not being able to take it anywhere. At first Tsukasa was ovewhemled with this information but he tried his best to comfort and support Hoshi because he feels bad for someone he sees as a younger brother and doesn't want to see him sad. He gives some advice to Hoshi who lightens up a bit and considers starting a revolution, thanking Tsukasa for the idea and comfort.
Tanami and Hoshi finally come back, meeting at their favorite spot and reconcile. Hayaki and Kuni are so happy to finally see the two back together as Hoshi starts to talk about his plans for a revolution and Tanami can't help but smile and support him. They decide they need to find the Eccentrics and rally them up again to fight back Hatsu.
